  • Today Philippa and I talked about all aspects of history and visiting historical locations. Philippa covers all periods of history , and so was able to give a really broad perspective of how we look at and explore history today. She is well placed to do this, as she has been running her flagship business, British History Tours, for several years now. Here, she creates bespoke tours for history enthusiasts and runs luxury tours, with overnight stays at locations like Hever Castle.
Philippa is also the 'Roving Reporter' for The Tudor Society, and so is able to make use of her touring skills there as well!
This was a fun chat that dug into all sorts of corners and threw up a couple of cheeky questions! I hope you'll enjoy it.

Thanks for this. I’ve just booked onto one of Philippa’s tours next year and can’t wait. Like she said, it’s a trip of a lifetime and I’m going on my own and hoping to meet and make friends with other history mad ppl :-)
The discussion about History being more accessible today is also a great topic and I agree it’s because we have so many more historians on the telly, doing book tours, and just being in the public domain. As a history lover making history more mainstream and accepted is just great. I do hope that modern school curriculum doesn’t do anything to turn students off history - my children are ‘bored’ by it so I’m sincerely hoping things will improve. I enjoyed this video. Thank you!
