Congos have topped my wishlist for a long time. As soon as my trustee Fish Shop had them, I made the purchase and now I'd say they probably are the most beautiful fish I have ever kept - The colours are unreal, an almost literal mind-blower. I don't know what's the evolutionary advantage of it, just know, provided your tank is big enough (at least a 40 gallon / 150 litres for a species-only setting), they are perfect as aquarium fish.
Thanks buddy. Yes, Congo Tetra so far is one of the most beautiful fish that I have ever had. To see them everyday is a blessing. 🥰 It's really mind-blower. 🥰✨
We have congo tetras in the pet store where I work, and once I discovered how beautiful they actually are, I put them to my wishlist as well. Now I'm reading as much as possible about aquariums, planning to get one as soon as possible and then hopefully be able to have congo tetras :)
Beautiful drawing at the beginning, also beautiful tank and fish 😍 the first time I saw Congo tetras in person I was amazed by their size and shimmery body!
Thanks! I like this aquarium and I come back to watch often. Beautiful fish and someday, when I can afford a large tank, the congo tetra will be a must on the list of fish to get.
Hi buddy, I have not got Ram before so I am not so sure. But if it's kind of nipping fins type, that should not be placed with Congo tetras. The Congo tetra has kind of delicate long fins 🥰

Thanks a lot for your kind words. That makes my day, buddy. Unfortunately, this aquarium has been demobilized as I needed to move on with other projects. The Congo tetras however still in other big tank. And ya, some have been growing up bigger and very handsome !^^
Congo tetras are wonderful fish, but they do get big. What it took me a while to realize is that there are many other species of Congo tetras, like in the genus Alesteopetersius. Any of these species have marvelous colors when they have the right environment, but it is true, all of them often look dull in the shops. The Congo tetras here are obviously taken well cared of and truly shine!
Thanks for the video, dude, was looking forward to it. That settles what fish i put in my upcoming tank, crazy beautiful fish. Whats the fish with the yellow fins, looks interesting!
I have never kept them with the Apistogramma before. I am afraid if the Apisto is fierce, it can attack the Congo tetras. Having said that, if the tank is big, I don't think it is the problem as Congo tetras is super fast! :D

Hi Joan, no worries at all. Your tank is pretty big. You can house 6 to 10 Congo Tetras there with your corydoras without any issue. All the best! Cheers! :D
Hi.. Very nice ... I can see two variety of fish in this tank.. One is with the light orange color and the other is just silver in colour.. Can you tell me what is the difference in between them??
Thanks Sasi. The light orange colour you mentioned is probably the Gold Gourami. The silver colour is Congo tetras, female one. It would be great you can point out the minute in the video, then I will have the accurate info. :D
Thank you so much. Sorry that I have not checked the KH and GH for this tank. pH is around 6.4-6.8 though. Potassium dosing is also minimal since I got the very good base substrate with nutrients.
I have noticed that my congo tetra's are eating the new young leaves of all my rotala species. Immediately your beautiful video come to my mind. I was wondering did u noticed any of this behaviour with your fish?
Thanks for your kind words, buddy. Yes, I noticed Congo tetras do nipping plants, but for my case, they nipped Anubias leaves 😂 and left Rotala and other species alone. Probably they need some plants in their diet I suppose. 😅
Thanks! I am thinking about putting them temporarily i an other tank. So my plants can develop some bigger and stronger leaves. By the way! When will u upload vlog 2? 😁
Hello, your congo tetras eat some young plant in your tank ? my congo tetras eating a few young plant and it's a bit annoying even if i feeded them with spirulina food they keep going, do you have any idea or maybe they do the same with you ? Beautiful tank 😄😍
Hi buddy. I am keeping XXL size of Amano shrimps in this tank with Congo Tetras and they are safe. Any shrimps that smaller than Congo Tetras mouth size should not be housed with them. They will be tasty snacks for the Congo. 😸
Beautiful, can you tell us how are you able to grow Monte Carlo as an epiphyte outside the soil. That is looking really beautiful and also observed most of the top iaplc working replicating the same
Hi Dev C, Monte Carlo can be quite similar to moss, it can be attached to rocks / stones / woods with glue or cotton thread. After sometimes, the roots will grow and the plants will attach itself to the medium. But please take note to keep trimming it since it tends to float when it gets too thick. 😁
How did your Congo fishes have the blue part under the red line on their body, my fish just had the red line part very clearly and their fin also just like you, i feed them with tetra color and live red worm(i dont remember the English name, the type of worm attach each other not the single one) pretty high-protein, and my light is Chihiros Wrgb 2.
The fish might take sometimes to be mature and show their best colours. Males are more colourful than females one, too. Also, I find they are more confident and comfortable in numbers, more of them in the tank they feel safer, hence showing nicer colour. Your foods and lighting are good, just be patient, the fish will be beautiful!
Can put all different tetras together? Ex. 6-8 of these red neon, cardinal, green neon, black neon, blue emperor, black emperor, rummy nose, ember, kitty tetra, lemon tetra, pristella, buenos aires, congo, white cloud minnows, zebra danios and koi angel fish (4)
Hi, just got some Congo tetra after seeing ur vid. I'm not too sure I got the male or females. As they don't hv long dorsal fins. They r now about 2.5 inches.
Congratulations on getting the fish! It's normally quite pales at the beginning and only colour up when they get use to the tank. You can wait for sometimes to confirm the gender as it's kind of difficult to see when they are small, too.
Hi Raymond, I have them in the tank with Pearl Gourami, Gold Gourami, Serpea Tetras, Otocinclus, Siamese Algae Eaters, Bristlenose Pleco... So far, they are fine in this community tank. I guess general tetras and rasboras are OK to live with Congo Tetras, as long as they are not so small. Rules of thumb is, fish eat everything that fit their mouth, bro. 😅😅
I'm looking to keep this fish soon.. do you have any aggression issues in your tank due to keeping all males?? I too wanna keep all males in my tank.. what would be your suggestion on this!!?? Please let me know
I first got all the males in this tank and they are OK with each others, not so aggressive, but active and playful. Once I put the females in, the male coloration seems better because they would show off to get the attention from females. 😸
They are ferocious eaters when it's dinner time. I'm having trouble keeping them with corydoras because they'll push the Cory's out of the way then still there Sinking Wafers. They'll even steal the crickets from my Butterfly fish at the surface. They are beautiful fish but they like to eat too much food.
Yes, buddy. When coming to foods, they are very fast snatchers! 😂 My solution is to have feeding tab that can stick on the glasswall during feeding time (e.g. JBL NovoTab). When we got the tab, the Congo tetras can be helpful by breaking the tab to smaller pieces and others can munch on them. :) You can try this method.
Haha. Yes, bro. There is colour grading certainly for the video. However, the colour of Congo tetras (and also other fish) would be much much better under Chihiros RGB Vivid 2. Try to believe. 😸
Hey dude, I got another question for you. Did you ever here of these fish jumping out of aquariums? since they are active swimmers and quite big as well, one might consider an open tank a little dangerous. whats your experience with that?
Hi buddy. The fish did jump out. To prevent that to happen, normally I will cover the tank top with plastic grates the first week after releasing them in the tank. Also, to have more fish in the tank which make them feel secure. When they get use to the tank, they will less tend to jump out.
