That was awesomely funny! As a Deadwood fan, I laughed 'till I cried! I have something in common with Larry King, though. Due to my second-rate community college education, many times I couldn't really put together what the Deadwood characters were saying unless they were cussing. Actual quote from Deadwood: "My bicycle masters boardwalk and quagmire with aplomb. Those that doubt me. . . suck cock by choice". Huh? I only understood the second sentence!
Aplomb means ‘ease’ in the context of this sentence. Early bicycles could be hard to control because AFAIK they didn’t have brakes. Basically Tom’s saying I’m gonna ride my bike down the boardwalk and through the thoroughfare and to hell with anyone who says otherwise…so, a bit of a boast. He did pull it off of course but you know how that turned out. Myself I found all the discussion around the camp’s annexation practically incomprehensible.

Calm down man Deadwood is a superbly written show but I think this is actually done pretty well. If you saw the standard of parody sketch com shows in Australia you would feel extremely grateful for this. They also pick shows beyond their talent to rip off and its abysmal and much more frustrating to watch than this.
I love deadwood and have to admit that this was funny. The problem with MadTV is that they just don't know when to quit. The Larry King bit went on WAY too long but the skit as a whole is still funny.

This started off making a fairly relevant point about the type of language Deadwood uses and how it makes it pretty difficult to understand what anyone's saying (I'm a big fan, but I do hate having to twist my brain around sentences to understand them), then, almost as if they were scared of making a relevant criticism, just becomes stupid.
@bonniehudson nope, its just that good. maybe your used to seinfeld or friends where dumbassery is apparent or maybe two amd a half men or big bang theory is more to your liking. its a shame when a truly intelligent show gets put down for actually being fantastic. guess you really didnt get it and/or arent into history
To appreciate Deadwood you need to be fairly intelligent, a fan of theater, open-minded and love great writing. It is a shame how culturally challenged many are to where they can't appreciate a show this great. It's not a show you can really follow unless you use subtitles and really pay attention. If you like great writing, casting, directing, costumes, set design and a great plot; there isn't much made better than Deadwood. If you can follow to eps2 of season2 your hooked for life I think!
Well done, esp. the imitations and voices, but - as always - MAD never leaves us wanting more. Too much of a good thing. Shorten it up and it's a potential classic.

They brought in attractive women, we got to see Mrs. Garrett getting nailed to the headboard, Bullock and Swearingin finally had the jaw-smashed knuckle rumble that's been absurdly long overdue (though I *looked* at the subtitles and I still don't even really understand why) and finally, and most importantly, all of a sudden the props department remembered there were such a thing as GUNS in the old west!!!
As much as I like Deadwood, they have a point in this sketch. David Milch sometimes overdoes it with trying to sound high brow while his characters are talking about the crudest stuff.
Deadwood Season 1 was amazing. Deadwood Season 2 was okay, but somewhat dissapointing. Deadwood Season 3 was bad, simply boring with no interesting new characters. Eye gouge scene was tremendous, though. Just my opinion :0
Pretty funny -- thanks for posting. I enjoyed the actual parodies, but the Larry King crap went on __entirely__ too long. Just like SNL, MAD TV will take a joke and beat the ever-living dogshit out of it :-|
