Oh yes, for years I had two safari jackets, one in tan and the other in olive. I wore them so much they got frayed. I have been looking for a new one lately.
I was lucky to acquire barely used second hand cotton safari jackets by Ring Jacket: 1 in tan, 1 in military green ripstop, and 1 in a grayish olive corduroy... Basically one for every season. They never made a full 100% linen version like yours, but that would have be a good addition! Yep they totally elevate outfits as a casual classic piece. Also congrats on 1000+ subscribers! Keep up the fantastic enjoyable work!
Yes, yes, yes! I love safari jackets and wish there were more YT style videos about them. Thank you for yours. I have found Spier & Mackay make fantastic examples in several quality fabrics. Perhaps this could be another avenue for future readers as well.
Thank you Sir! I am a big fan of Spier and Mackay, so although I don't have any experience with their safari jackets, I am sure they are of excellent quality
@@fuckoff187 if your jacket was made of the same material then I think you did very well for yourself. I'm curious what other items are overpriced to you?
@kbrett2004 their outerwear I would say has the most inflated prices, basically if you have a direct link to a factory in Asia you can cut out the middle man etc. Their shirts are the best value and some trousers but always look for a sale usually.
@@fuckoff187 I can see that point about the outerwear. I always wait until off-season to purchase their outerwear, never pay full retail. I just this week received my peacoat in a grey and white Prince of Wales check. Was less than 50% now that the spring arrivals are in. Do you mind sharing the contact info for the tailor you deal with? It would be much appreciated.
The Armoury has some interesting casual but stylish jackets. I personally like the PB3, the Road jacket and the City Hunter. Mark Cho makes a great version of the safari jacket as well. I love his styling sense.
If only it was more affordable, but I've just got my hands on the SuitSupply dark gray 120s flannel as I am going into a winter months. Keen to see what it feels and looks like in person.
Nice video, i have used a safari jacket, when my wife and i traveled abroad to warmer countries. Mine is light beige, but i enjoy wearing it instead of a blazer.
It rains a lot where I live. I like to wear blazers, but I need an outer layer to protect the blazer from the rain (light rain for short durations). Is the safari jacket an option in your opinion?
The safari jacket is more of an alternative to a blazer, I don’t think it works layered on top. But a belted trench coat or Mac would be a good alternative. These coats have similar design features but are designed to accommodate a blazer underneath!
Love your video. I’ve owned several safari jackets for years. It’s always an attention getter. My favorite is a Ralph Lauren purple label that I bought at Berdorf’s in NYC. But it was almost $3,000. 🫣 May I ask where you got your jacket? I love it. Love the unusual color.
Great video. What was the name of the site you designed the jacket on? Hokety? I will get a tailor to make one for me in Thailand but will need to show him what I want and I would like to design something myself.
I saw a Tilley Safari jacket, however it had an elastic back rather than a belt (never cared much for the belt), and it also had trench coat style flats over the pockets. Hidden pockets too as old Tilley was about travel clothes. I should go back and try it on. It was $125 and you can't buy them anymore.
Im trying to get a tailor made safari jacket. My issue is the type of fabric that would be suitable for winter and spring. Any suggestions on fabrics or advice on cut?
That's a little tricky! Personally, I would go with a linen safari jacket and then you can throw over a silk or linen scarf when it is cooler. Even a linen jacket like mine provides a decent amount of warmth

Glad to hear you like them! I could certainly see myself acquiring another in the future!
Amazon like $50

A safari jacket for every situation! That sounds great. And thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏

Spier sells the exact same jacket I had made for me off Ebay but they sell it at 3x the price. I buy from Spier as well but some items are a rip off.

Yes I had one back in early 1970s I got it at this place called casa felmans In salinas California it was navy blue.
Nice!
I wear safari jackets and or shirts because I hunt as well as other adventures and I like my clothes to reflect that
That’s cool that your style reflects your hobbies and personality!

I have few safari jackets from SuitSupply.
I believe I need to tailor them.
They bunch up when using belt.
I have 29 waist on 48 chest.

You're really selling the safari jacket, now I hope to buy one someday!
I highly recommend it! They are not the most affordable garment but very versatile

Get a Baaufort Barbour wax jacket
That would be a good rain-proof option@@georgiosyiannakou5537
Huge fan of the safari jacket! Just picked up my own last week

@@Gent.Z thank you very much for the prompt response. I appreciate the advice. Linen it is. 💯
Hi, great vid. Can you tell me more about what type of lining (if any) this jacket should have. Thanks!
Generally half lined
is it ok to wear a military shirt which looks quite like a safari jacket?
Another similiar style would be vintage style racing jackets like Belstaff or Barbour International
What fabric and customizations did you do on the safari jacket
What’re links to the best safari jackets?
I fell in love with it and im going to buy one
Your safari jacket is very nice. Where did you purchase the jacket from.
Hocketry
Cool video certainly stylish jackets. I dont understand why its fortunate they dont need cartridge loops though 😂
Hi Gent Z
Can you make a video about the quilted jacket?
Military epaulets not military style ribbons on the shoulders.
with all the blm crime nonsense that's happening in the states i think we all could use those cartridge loops on our safari jackets...
It's just a recent trend - it will fade away in a couple of years.
I have to kindly disagree. Although the safari jacket enjoys phases of popularity over time, it's been a menswear classic for nearly 100 years.
lmao the video itself explain the history bruh why would you think it will fade away in the next few years
Doesn't matter. Looks good.
