I love all of autogyro!! The autogyro was invented by Spanish engineer Juan de la Cierva in an attempt to create an aircraft that could fly safely at low speeds. He first flew one on 9 January 1923.
I work under the departure path from Hawthorne a few miles away. This week I saw an autogyro and an ultralight flying in a nice formation. Didn't know there were so many here locally. Cool!
This is the gyro I am most interested in. ..an enclosed cabin and side by side 2 place. It looks very nice outside and inside. It is evident the blades have washout in this video.
That's an awesome opening with a hanger full of them, loved the spectacular SoCal coastline and the other aircraft footage throughout the video and seeing the cool landing.
@Raylan Vivaan I love when same person wants people to download something, and your are the same person Called "Caleb Landry" are you a hacker, who want people to download your shit so they can get virus, and get hacked by you, your profiles are made, same date...
I was surprised by how quiet the cabin seems. I’m curious as to why you don’t have the rotor turning prior to takeoff clearance and crossing the hood short line? Seems like an unnecessary amount of time sitting on the runway and unnecessary exposure.
Cavalon is a sweet machine ! you guys have no place to land after you leave the airport...looks thick down there !! that lan-ding (in the crosswind) is why you need a tail wheel !!
Very nice many of the other videos I watched didn have electric starters which I found kind of odd that’s a pretty busy little airport they seamed to have just about everything going in and out of it
jet guy all of the Cavalon I flew with, were very low in vibration. the vibrations are less than in some helicopters. of course it is a rotary wing and there are vibrations.

looks like a lot of fun. what type of fuel does that gyrocopters burn? and how long can it stay aloft? keep smilin my friend..... former VietNam medic.
That guy from the UK channel called that take off the "Cavalon Nod" looks like a rocking horse said it was because of improper pitch control on take off.
A narration of the operations and sensations of the flight controls either during the flight or edited afterwards would be most helpful in enjoying this great video. Please continue the great work. There is great interest in the auto gyro, but much misinformation that needs to be corrected. Please help!
98 foot take off distance, 435 mile range, 90-100mph cruise, 120mph top speed. The kits are starting at $120,000, pretty sure that's unbuilt of course.
"Adventure Air Europe Rotorsport" I don't understand this reference. It's a flight in California of a USA-registered gyroplane, so to what does the "Europe Rotorsport" refer?
What is the RPM Of the propeller in take- off, cruising and landing? What would be the corresponding RPM of the autogyro during take off ,cruising and landing?
Great Machine ....But that was a terrible landing not aligned with the runway on touch down......you landed like a fixed wing pilot who would "Kick off " the rudder on touch down....but that method is unsafe in Gyros ....please please take a lesson before you turn it over ( ps I am a Cavalon Certified instructor ) Cavalons do take a bit more mastering on Landings .... Safe flying.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. He came in pretty hot and kind of did a carrier landing on the runway. In a gyro you can just about spot land every time.
They are such strange animals. I always thought it's either an aeroplane or a helicopter. It is hard to imagine how these little wasp bubbles can fly in a controlled way.
@@raoul8629 - No. I think you’ll find that’s coolant. He takes the cap off the oil reservoir just before he starts turning the prop and talks about pumping the oil out of the crankshaft to be able to dip it. This is called “burping the engine” because once the oil has all been transferred up to the reservoir, the pump starts sucking air and it burps/gurgles. That’s the point at which you can stop turning the prop and then dip the oil to check its level. He would not have topped off the oil before dipping it and the oil tank is not that high.
I was so excited in the beginning of the concept and its utility, seemed like the future of transportation until I heard one take off. They make a racquet, the most unpleasant kind and most airports in US will not allow them to operate.
I hope someone can answer this for me. It appears to me that most gyroplanes are using the Rotax engines. They are awesome power plants, but has anyone tried the Honda or other automotive engines that would increase life of the engine and decrease maintenance costs. Also what is the speed restrictions for a gyroplane or can we fly these aircraft above 130 mph. Thanks
If you're flying under a Light Sport certificate, there's a legal speed limit, but if you're flying under a private license the primary restriction is design limits. Rotorcraft are slower than fixed wing aircraft because of various aerodynamic limits such as retreating blade stall. As for engines, gyroplanes have used everything from the little McCulloch '4318' engines used in Bensen Gyrocopters, to the big twin Armstrong Siddeley 'Mamba' engines used in the Fairey Rotodyne, and everything in between. Honda and Subaru engines have powered a number of experimental gyroplanes over the years, but Rotax engines just hit the sweet spot for light aircraft uses. Here's an example of an Air Command gyro powered by a Yamaha snowmobile engine conversion: th-cam.com/video/CFEKoIa0S48/w-d-xo.html
While you’re in the pattern everyone is at the same elevation. So to see other air craft isn’t as hard as it looks. Plus your listening to the radio too all the time. It’s the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Great hobby.
You ... I don't want to die right now, don't take me to heaven by that weird means! I still love life so much, if you want to go there alone, I don't go. God will bless you.
A good video, but take that camera off the helmet. A fella could get air sick trying to watch this. I also like the narration. NO BAD OR LOUD music. Keep up the good work.
Nora Bazuin This is an Auto Gyro which means the top rotor is not powered. It’s literally a rotating wing that takes minimal forward momentum to begin auto drive. That means even if your engine (the back propeller) dies in mid flight, it keeps spinning until (close to) full stop when it lands.
@@lucaspatrick542 Nice! I was just wondering how it counteracts the torque from the top rotor without a back rotor like a traditional helo, that explanation made it super clear! Thanks

It was really a great experienced for me, that once in my life time, I was able to fly together with a great Gyrocopter Pilot from Germany
the ambulance was called after that landing lol
No doubt. 🤣

Cool, would be fun to ride in sometime.
It’s so fascinating that the rotor blade is not connected to any drive belt when in flight.

When you clutter up your garage with paint cans, shelving, and a gyrocopter
I’d say that was living the dream.

Awsome
How did you cancel all the engine noise? Do you hear it during flight?
"Active noise cancelling" headsets.
I don’t know how they even know what is going on with that fast radio talking.
Does it have a parachute?
No. The rotor IS the "parachute."
What fluids are being topped off at the 4 minute mark?
