    Great tutorial - Thanks !! I like the tone and pace of instructions. Wonder if you have one that can be attached to emails with an animation opening the card ... sent digitally.

      Hey there! Here is my work-around for getting an animation from InDesign to mp4 or GIF:
      • Use a screen recording program (QuickTime on a Mac works well!) and select the area of the card you want to record.
      • Press Record and then play the animation a few times in the web browser.
      • Save the video to your desktop.
      • Go to Adobe Spark's free Video-to-GIF converter ( www.adobe.com/express/feature/video/video-to-gif ) and choose "Upload Video".
      • Once video is uploaded, use the timeline to trim the area you want and then choose the File Size.
      • Click Download and share via Email or Social Media Post.

      @@AngeloMontilla Did you create the text and background swatches on illustrator or is there a library ?

    This is a great tutorial. I am teaching two periods of digital design to middle schoolers and the goal is for them to create their own family Christmas card. This is a great intro lesson to get them started as we learn all the elements they will need when it comes to their final card. I am wondering if you can give me access to your two illustrator files you use for the font and background design?

      Hi and thank you Amber! Let me see if I can dig up those assets. I can share them with you.

    Thanks so much for this tutorial. Can you explain why you set your settings to start on page 2. I was a little stumped. Thanks again!

      Hi Nicole! That's a great question. It's just another way when setting up the doc to get two spreads without having page 1 on its own. Set facing pages on with even amount of pages and then choose start page on Page 2. In this case, it gives me two spreads.

    Nice tutorial. Question: won't this printout with inside on the left side instead of the right?

    Thank you for your tutorial. This is great! Do you get a better quality print if you work from inDesign
    or from illustrator?

    • @AngeloMontilla
      @AngeloMontilla  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! You'd get the same quality depending on how you prepare your document for print. Typically CMYK and at least 300 ppi. You can do same in Id or Ai. Both are vector based too.

    How do I turn the document (1/4) so the card will 'open' on top instead of on the side ?

    • @AngeloMontilla
      @AngeloMontilla  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You have a couple options.
      1) Set up the document as single pages (facing pages off) with four pages. First is cover, 2-3 are inside, fourth is back cover.
      2) The other option is setting up a doc that is 10" W x 14" H, two pages. Use a guide to divide the page in half.
      • On Page 1: Bottom portion is the front, top portion is the back when folded.
      • On Page 2: Top portion is inside front, bottom portion is inside back.
      Just keep in mind that if you're putting elements on the back cover in this case, you'll have to rotate the content. I hope this makes sense for you.

    how do i turn it into to how you have it in the thumbnail?

    • @AngeloMontilla
      @AngeloMontilla  ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you mean the video thumbnail? That is a mockup. There are plenty of free mockups on the web. Just search "Greeting Card Mockup". I have a tutorial of how to place your InDesign artwork in a mockup, using Photoshop. Have a look here ➡️ th-cam.com/video/wZRtVI3Gx5Y/w-d-xo.html
