I have used ground Cayenne Pepper mixed in with the feed to help with parasites and coccidiosis. I also dump ashes where they take their dust baths to get rid of mites and lice. Thank you for the suggestion of using charcoal. It makes sense that the carbon would eliminate the ammonia smell. I use hemp straw under the roost about 8” deep and it works great plus it doesn’t break down or compact like straw or pine shavings and I have gotten 3 years from one application where other materials may only last a month or two at most.
Charcoal is good 👍 but it is at the same time dangerous because some trees used for charcoal are poisonous something u can not tell after the tree is burnt out
