I'm glad you liked it. I just picked the game up from the post office today and I'm looking forward to the story. I'm a big CYOA fan so this should be good!
It’s a shame about the later adventures being too easy, but as you said the story and branching options keeps it fresh enough at least. Next time we play through, we’ll definitely be using legendary mode and additional house rules to make it harder (splitting up the bonus plays, limiting item types per deck, making rests cost more XP, etc.)
Hi Mike, first things first, thanks a lot for the channel and specially for you 5 in 5 reviews, love them!!! I have this one and tainted grail on my radar, which one do you think would be better for playing solo (managing 1 or 2 player). For me story and mechanics have the same relevance. I like the idea of roll player but I am afraid the mechanics can become a bit repetitive. Any other you would recommend instead (Skyping gloonhaven as it was very brain burner for my taste). Thanks!!!
Hey Javier! So it sounds like you are looking for more of an adventure game (big scope) than a dungeon crawler (space-based movement, etc. like Gloomhaven). Both Tainted Grail and Roll Player Adventures work great 1-2 player. But they play and feel very differently. RPA has the pretty straightforward card and dice resolution system, and otherwise it's mostly focused on a branching storyline. TG gets a bit meatier in its combat mechanics, and it's also much more focused on exploration than a more linear storyline. That's cool if you want to explore somewhat freely, but bad if you don't want backtracking and the potential to go the wrong way. A big note on Tainted Grail. The original printing had, in my opinion, major issues with grinding and backtracking and got a little frustrating at times. The newer version that is coming, Kings of Ruin, fixes basically all of these issues. So if you want to play TG I might wait for that. That said, if you are looking for some great solo/co-op adventure games in general, a good place to start would be Colin's video (linked below). It's a bit out of date, but there are several great games on there to check out: th-cam.com/video/AZLhn8wUprM/w-d-xo.html Probably the biggest thing for you to decide is how much you care about narrative, how much you care about exploration, and how much you want crunchy mechanics. Answering those questions would completely change the games I would recommend :)
My wife and I just finished the campaign running the side quest twice. We loved it and agree with everything you said. After adventure three, we never failed a test. We loved the story and writing also and decided to play it through again. However, this time we are sharing the play limit, which is making the game a lot harder.
Let's say it, this microphone is bad looking! But thankfully your content and the short fast and complete review is still a blast to watch! Happy playing

I’m just getting into the Roll Player universe. I really like Roll Player and am looking forward to trying Roll Player Adventures! Great review!
Hope you enjoy it!

Oh yeah, you are going to LOVE it :)
i've seen them hint already at future scenarios in bgg forums, hopefully that increases the value proposition
I’m certainly ready to buy more ;)

Yes, luckily it’s a pretty flexible system. Lots of knobs to turn to change the difficulty
I was curious, but the first 4 points you made, had me screaming "Run away!". Thanks as always Mike.
Perfect! This one is a winner for me, but I know it’ll me a miss for many

Glad the review was helpful.

Wow, that is a ROUGH restriction to put on yourselves. I was going to add some tougher modifiers to the tests first.
Thx !
Thank you Mike. Is it worth importing a roll player character or just run a pre gen character?
They have a ton of pre-gens, so there’s no reason not to use one ;)
I miss the old music for 5 in 5. 😥
Sorry! We switched to a different music repository so had to pick new songs
