Next up is Jurassic Park 3. the sequel to Jurassic Park 2 the lost world. directed not by Steven Spielberg instead hiring Joe Johnston. we follow Alan Grant returning to the islands of Jurassic Park to find a missing person.

FINALLY someone who loves this movie as much as me, you're right this is kind of like a horror movie and this is definitely the one I've watched the most in the franchise

I have a nostalgic feeling for this film. As a kid, I was highly disappointed by the second, and the action-packed 3rd was a ride as a kid. I have a soft soft for this one.

What!? I liked the trilogy, I loved Malcolm as a character and seeing him as the main focus on the sequel was a blast to see a long with the t.rex in the city
@@Retr008 Malcolm is ok in small doses. He’s enjoyable as a side character, not so much as a **main** character.

I always loved JP3 especially cause my boy Alan was back and I always liked Isla Sorna more then Isla Nublar. The spinosaurus was one of the most intimidating dinosaurs and it’s backstory is pretty interesting since it’s supposed to be somewhat of a hybrid since I believe spinosaurus is supposed to be on all fours instead of being bipedal. To this day idk how those boat drivers died. I love some of the sequences from the spino vs T. rex, the raptor in the lab, the raptor chase scene, a kill that made me cringe when the raptor put its claw in the dudes back, and sm more. Is it a perfect film no but I always have a great time.
Spinosaurus was indeed a biped tho, and Scorpios Rex basically debunked the hybrid spino theory
@@darkonyx6995 ooooo okay it’s cause at least from what I’ve seen it’s mainly portrayed as on all fours from documentaries. That spino was really strong like it broke down that metal gate with ease and it snapped a T. Rex’s neck like nothing. The scorpius Rex was definitely an interesting addition to the franchise and glad I’m not the only camp Cretaceous watcher here.

@@josetheclassicstarwarsfan8514 yeah I heard of that but the cage wasn’t even open and those were the aggressive ones there ones shown in JP2 weren’t aggressive or else they would’ve also been in the bird cage.

JP3 is my favorite, for sure and I'm happy to see more people who love this film as well! JP3 is what truly got me into the Jurassic franchise, have a deeper love for dinosaurs and discover my favorite dinosaur, the Spinosaurus. I didn't even know the Spinosaurus existed until I watched the film, which made it even more exciting when I first watched it. Every time I rewatch it, I still get joy from it! I never get bored with this film, it almost feels you like you never get a break, which I like! Whereas some of the other films have a lot of dialogue and tend to get boring here and there, though I still love all the films dearly, this one has just always stood out to me and continues to do so today.
I honestly think this is my favorite out of the original trilogy. This was my first movie that I went to the theater by myself and watch. When I first seen that ended I thought thing where about to get crazy then it was just over.

My favourite part about it being the Spinosaurus.
Personally for me the Spinosaurus is the best villain. He just had a scary aspect that the next villains didn't have.
FYI: White I agree with the final battle being underwhelming, I'm glad they didn't kill it.

The Original Script of Jurassic Park 3, it was suspenseful and noir, everyone who was cast for the film change during filming, Kirby and Eric was originally Paul and Miles, Paul was a rich business person who help Alan to get to site b, different dinosaurs were not feature in the final cut, the story was that in Costa Rica, people were dying from something, Alan and billy investigate it, they even explore more of bird cage sequence, also the Spinosaurs was suppose to be killed by the raptors
One Note: The Spinosaurs is confirm to be a first hybrid since they cross genetics and Wu help made those raptors because he wanted to add feathers to them, also that horn dinosaur was suppose to be another dinosaur from Disney's Dinosaur, but can't due to claim of the Dino at that time
Overall, I do love Jurassic park 3, heck I have all 3 of them on VHS, there all great for me
All of these ideas other than Spinosaurus being killed was a coop idea.

I'd just like to point out that Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous litterly follow kids being stuck on Isla Nublar for months
Just finished rewatching it in 4k. JP3 is soo underrated, it works so good with less human characters actually. Many dinosaurs behave like real animals, some dinosaurs are advanced like Updated raptors with a few feathers, so is the Spinosaurus. Lets be real, this one is peak Spino in our imagination. Most people don't know, but the Bird Cage scene and the River scene are taken from the first book. That was unused in the first movie.
I was born in 93 so obviously Jurassic Park was like a dream come true for every kid in the 90s! The second I liked also but I was a kid so the flaws do not stick out like when viewing something as an adult! Part 3 I actually seen in theaters which it made the experience 10 times better! All 3 films were part of my childhood so I love them all plus they remind me of my dad who passed away in 07 who watched them with me so naturally I have a soft spot for them!
Well, I love all three Jurassic Park movies. They were all good. And mostly the parts that still give me chills every time I see the third one, is the Raptor killed Jeter and when the Pteranodon walked towards Eric on thr bridge. I don't care what people say or think about this, I think Jurassic Park 3 is great.
Man I wish is was this guys neighbor, just being able to go chill in my backyard and then see an anime fight between 2 inflatable Dino’s

4:49 So far you seem to think that JP3 took place on Isla Nublar, the island of JP1, but that's inaccurate. It takes place on Isla Sorna, same as JP2. The Park is not on this island, and Alan hadn't been to Sorna yet. When Alan said nothing could get him on "that island", in context he was referring to Sorna. Malcom breaking his NDA about Nublar made the public aware of that island, but the San Diego incident and Hammon's televised speech about Sorna made the public aware of the second island as well.
10:33-11:05 It really is a shame they didn't include any explanations in the movie for the illegal changes on Sorna in the 4 years since the previous movie, that we had to get clues from a backdoor site for the Masrani Global site made for the Jurassic World films. Genetic science is the blood of the franchise, and they left out those parts that would have made it feel more like a JP movie instead of an average quasi-horror adventure movie. You're absolutely right in your theory that InGen were secretly working to advance their splicing methods (into hybrid territory), making this movie important as secret setup towards Jurassic World.
15:01 Good news, there's at least 2 Ceratosaurs in Camp Cretaceous. They may not have done much, but better than being used for this kind of low-brow humor.
The last 15 minutes could have been more exciting if they went with either or both of the ideas they had for it: 1. the Raptors attacking and killing the Spino; or 2. the freed Pteranodons attacking the helicopters. But I suppose they needed to wind down the energy so it didn't feel like it ended more abruptly than it already does. Don't get me wrong, while this movie is the "black sheep" of the franchise, it's still my favorite as well.

I like this movie too. It was a nice change of pace to have the Spinosaurus as the main dino for a change and it was good to see Alan Grant back. I also liked the new raptors that had quills and the birdcage.
It's also the shortest Jurassic Park movie at 90 minutes so it doesn't waste time getting to the dinosaur action. Also now we know through material for Fallen Kingdom that the Spino was Doctor Wu's first attempt at creating a hybrid dinosaur. Also this was the first Jurassic Park movie I had on DVD as a kid as well as playing the GBA game "The DNA Factor" so there is just a smidge of nostalgia.

iirc had read something about how paleontologists were not pleased with the latest Jurassic Park movie because the dinosaurs did not have feathers on them which they had since discovered to be the case.
This is my FAVORITE Jp film. I love it so much. And the spino killed the boat drivers. It can clearly swim.
This film holds a special place in my heart. I actually seen part 3 before the other two films when I was a kid. This film got me hooked on the Dino addiction. The lost world is my favorite of the series but man, part 3 was on a different level. I agree with your point of view, this film was more of a horror movie than an action movie. The first time I seen the spinosaurs running after the cast, I too ran from the TV screen.

This was the only JP that Micheal Creighton didn’t write a novel for, thats why it was a bit different feel throughout the movie. I still liked it.

If you look on the whole Jurassic saga, Jurassic Park 3 looks like a filler movie but it's my most favorite Jurassic movie because it is the movie that introduces me to the franchise and it has more thrilling action sequences.

Spino didn't return in Dominion. But I'm glad that Spino is not part of the JW movies coz the entire JW trilogy is just wacky to the absurd level. Spino dodged a bullet there.

Happy 23rd Anniversary to Jurassic Park III on this July 18th 2024! Still a fantastic movie 23 years later to this day and the best movie of 2001.
It is a shame MiCHAEL CRiCHTON never wrote JuRRaSSiC PARK III the novel. However, RANDOM HOUSE stepped in and released FOUR excellent Jr. Novelizations of the film. As a book collector, this makes me happy.
Anyways YES JP3 is a fun cozy Dino flick that receives waaay to much flack.

I love JP3. I understand why people don't like it but for me it's the closest to JP1 from the sequels. It has very focused storyline, it's in one island and doesn't try to be grand scale epic thing. It shows new cool dinos, old favorites, Alan is back and all in all it's very straight to the point. It's not masterclass in movie making but it's way more fun than JP2 that I dislike the most from the whole franchise. I remember being very disappointed in it as a kid but 3 was my jam. Even my own daughter agrees after seeing all the movies.
JP3 I love. More so than JW Fallen Kingdom. Grant is my favourite human character and the Spinosaurus is my favourite dino. She is way more badass than the indominous Rex in my opinion. I wish they brought Spino back for JW franchise. Thanks so much Chris for being a fellow JP3 defender.

So glad to see so many people saying positive things about the movie. I never disliked the film. I was 7 when I went to see it in theaters but have seen the first two way before that. So it wasn't my first Jurassic film.
But like Dennis Nedry said in the first film "I am totally unappreciated in my time." i think that quote sums up this movie perfectly. Yes it has flaws. Personally I like the dream velociraptor 😂
If nothing else it shows the fear Alan has for raptors while he studies them from complete safety in his line of work. Which gives that speech he gives to Eric about astronomers and astronauts a little more meaning in my view. Extremely unappreciated film in the franchise.

Same i like how modern JP3 was and how it is more action based since prior to the successors, it's still technically the era of action movies so can't blame the director from directing it action based. Anyways I love how suspenseful the introduction for the antagonist dinosaur was and thinking this is where the formula of JW has followed where every movie has to have an antagonist dinosaur. It may have been the hated one but I rather like this than JP2 because that movie was more confusing. The airplane raptor gets hate but that scene showed that Grant had low-key PTSD and fear of raptors whenever he remembers his past from the events of the first JP
Steven Spielberg didn't come back because he told Joe Johnston he could after telling him no to directing the lost world. Not because he didn't want to.
JP3 wasn’t all that bad tbh. It was a fun film and had some cool set pieces, especially the ones with the Spinosauraus. I honestly feel like Fallen Kingdom is the least enjoyable of the series. That one also had some awesome scenes but just didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I hope Dominion goes all out and delivers one hell of a good time at the movies.

I didn't realize that the velociraptor saying "Allen" was so hated. Seriously? That one scene destroys the whole movie for people? My friend and I, and I believe the rest of the theatre as well, had a fun laugh at it.
The scene when the family reunites, followed by that horrifiying moment when they look up to see the Spino, always gets me.
Action scenes are becoming ridiculously longer and longer in movies ... I actually like the quicker resolution at the end.
Perhaps most notable to me, JP3 is the only JP movie that does not have the "evil capitalism gone amok" theme to it. This is a simple story of a couple trying to get their son back.

To be honest I really love Jurassic Park 3 one of the best movies of all Jurassic Park movies but to me Jurassic Park 3 was kind of like one of the best 👈👍👏💯. Joe Johnston did amazing job direct this Jurassic Park 3 he's so knows what he's doing especially he goes on with honey I shrink the kids, Jumanji and then also my favorite superhero Captain America the first adventure pretty awesome movie 👈

I loved the first 3 films. JP3 lacked an excellent ending. Supporting cast didn't deliver. Ellie not ending up with Allan was a slap to the face. Rex losing a fight was not an issue with me but it shouldn't have been killed of that early in the movie. The Velociraptors and Pteranodon did their part in the movie that was excellent. So it was the plot and the small cast that did the movie injustice. CGI in the first 3 films were better kudos to the Stan Winston Company.
Finally someone else who loves this movie I’ve always liked it since I was a kid and if it wasn’t for Jurassic world this would be my second favorite Jurassic park movie thanks Chris

For the longest time JP3 was my least favorite Jurassic movie but now it's #5. I saw this in the theater in 2001. The Kirby's were annoying and I didn't like how the Rex lost to Spino. I really enjoyed the raptor attack scene in the lab. Watching the raptor running in the background after Amanda hung up the phone was so good. The pteradon attack was fun in the birdcage. Good movie overall but my least favorite of the first 3.
