Superman bolted to the police station and killed Joker.

The flaw with Superman’s ideology is spelled out pretty plainly in this speech. He puts “Thieves” in the same sentence and tone as “Rapists and Murderers” yet by many accounts stealing is not nearly as bad as these two other things. His flaw (and yes even Red Hood’s flaw) with his ideology is that what is wrong is decided subjectively and what is crime and isn’t crime is a thin line to cross

    • @thegameknight8916

Thing is, _Red Hood knows there's lines you should never cross._
Red Hood knows there's such a thing as going too far, and we know via dialogue between the two that _Red Hood says Superman has crossed the line._
...Okay, first off, if Red Hood, a vigilante that's known for killing criminals, says you've gone too far, that should tell you something.
And second... I can't deny that he's right.

yeah and not to mention it doesn't take into account the surrounding context of these events , like many times there are innocently mistaken people / very much innocent and having no intention of doing any harm , but they make a mistake and are treated like and thrown in with criminals/murderers/the malicious only to become one of them or suffer or be a victim , not very often being able to find anything inbetween , this so called "justice system" / prison system of america is disgusting and subjects people to "cruel and unusual punishment" against our constitutional rights and is made to produce crime / profit , not protect society which would include the people they hurt , and really they subject us all to this "cruel and unusual punishment" for we all are under the same rules/laws that can lead us there if we are in the wrong place at the wrong time , not to mention over 100,000 innocent people are wrongfully convicted every year , this should be a national emergency , it is one of the upmost direlections of duty / attacks on our constitutional rights lol

Shazam, aka 16 (I think) year old Billy Batson just said it’s not right to kill millions over something like that, Superman’s response is to kill him and threaten everyone else in the room
What does Superman say he is? A casualty of war. That’s the line Red Hood will never cross, he will NEVER kill someone like Dick Grayson or Barbara Gordon to get to his target, he will NEVER kill civilians out of spite

While that would be an excellent point to make, Superman would have responded the same way as the ‘this is not what Lois would have wanted for you’ line. That’s the problem with people like this version of Superman, the very second you start poking holes in their logic, they try to immediately shut it down in any way they can, because they don’t want to accept the sad and brutal truth that they are the problem. I think it would have done this Superman a lot of good if he just admitted to himself that he just wanted to kill all those prisoners because he was angry and it made him feel better. It’s never right to actually do something like that, but thinking and feeling that way, makes someone human. Also, I think I heard somewhere that it’s easier to stay angry than to have to live with the pain of losing people you love, and that’s what this Superman did, once the Joker was gone, Superman tried to keep that rage alive by aiming it at other criminals and justified doing so by convincing himself that they’re all just as evil as the Joker. At the core of it all, he’s running away from the pain of loss.

One of the reasons he holds that they’re not supposed to kill. At the end of the day, they’re working outside of the law, yet they’re still giving a great deal of trust to carry out that mission. Killing someone would be breaking the public trust, because now they have to be afraid of how much further will things go.
