Really just an unboxing video. I still don't know the differences between the different starlink subscriptions.

Thanks for the quick review. I bought the Flat High Performance 'primarily' for my home in SWFL - after suffering through 150+ MPH winds during Hurricane Ian two years ago. I've mounted it on a telescoping flagpole and wouldn't expect to leave it out through another 150+ MPH wind, but hope it may be able to last through ~70-80+ in the corner it is mounted in. And it's easy enough to lower and pop off the pole for a big wind. I also plan to assemble a mount for my boat and (the Florida) trips that I take.
I could consider this Gen3 as a replacement (if ever necessary), if there is a chance that it could be mounted for winds greater than 60MPH... which is laughably low in FL.
I must say that the Flat HP shows essentially no obstructions at its reception angle, in pouring tropical rains, with great speed and latency at its very worst... so far. If it doesn't blow off my flag pole in a surprise storm, I'll be okay.

Separate power supply is better for wifi signal quality. Thats why wifi routers on the market have a separate power supply. Plus its cheaper to replace a power supply than to replace the wifi router.
Would like to see performance difference.

Great videos about the Starlink options guys...Thank you!!
I have a question...my husband and I are moving onto our new boat soon (full time) and looking for the right configuration. My husband does Zoom meetings 4 days a week from anywhere from 1-6 hours a day so Zoom is important.
We will be starting out in Thailand (where the boat is being built) for a month, then it will travel around the Cape of Africa and up into the Med. After 1-2 years it will head over to the Caribbean. Cost is less of an issue for us...but we are not sure what can and can't be done and obviously we don't want to spend on something we wont' need.
We were thinking of going with the Roam Dish and the Roam package and just use the priority toggle if / when we need priority service...but after listening to your video where you mentioned Zoom, my husband thinks maybe we need the High Performance dish. This would come in handy during those ocean crossings but we wouldn't be on the boat during those times and professional crews would have alternatives.
So if we go that route can we still subscribe to the Roam plan and use the priority toggle when in a busy area or when going over 10mph ? OR if we do the high performance dish are we forced into the High Performance plan?
Also on the plans page of Starlink's website it says the Boat plan is Global. I suspect we would need to use that anytime we are out of our "home" country? Do you know if that is the case?
Thanks so much for your response!!! Looking forward to it.

Correct. The plans are the same since our last video on those. It’s a reasonable question given the constant change with Starlink.

Elli Yacht, great review of the new dish. I am also looking to install the Starlink system on a boat and after your last two Gen 3 videos I was sure this was the dish for me. After your second video I watched another review on the dish and they pointed out that the Gen 3 dish had to always point to the northern sky. If this is the case, how would this work on a boat or any mobile application without adjusting the dish? Seems like the Gen 2 model is a better fit for boating. Your opinion thoughts are appreciated.

I have the original round one on my boat. Should I change? Is there any advantages to the round one?

I also am considering some ways of attaching the SL kickstand directly to a mounting surface. That would obviate the need for any aftermarket mount. In the meantime, looking forward to a hands-on review of the mount by Tim Wray.

Hey guys, do you have any thoughts about adding a cell phone booster to the starlink system? Or is that even necessary? Thanks in advance for any information you may have. Hope all is well aboard the Elli-Yacht!

Thanks to your excellent analysis and presentation I decided to immediately place an order for the Gen3 Standard with Regional coverage. Unfortunately, the Starlink website keeps rejecting the order and there's no way to contact them without an account. Are they having problems?

    • @ElliYacht1
      @ElliYacht1  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

They could be having problems but they tend to solve them quickly. We do recommend going to the Facebook page Starlink on boats and you can find more information there.

Since you didn't talk about the monthly subscription cost, should I assume that hasn't changed?

Starlink doesn’t have a support phone number. Login and search the help section FAQ for your problem. If it doesn’t help, select the thumbs down. That will open a log that you can write your problem in. They will respond to help you with your issue.
It’s not the best help experience but, it’s how they do it.

How to order the flat antenna?

    • @ElliYacht1

If you go to Starlink.com select ‘roam’ and when you ‘order’, it is the ‘Standard’ dish for $599. www.starlink.com/orders/?processorToken=fa6e8564-86ed-4e5a-85e8-61b2028ae17f
