This so reminds me of my late dad out cycling pre war. Classy, smooth and fast. Went out together when I was a brat kid, and did I get a master class in riding and tactics. Dad looked like his hero, Fausto Coppi, smooth and slick on the bike, whilst was an unmade bed! Years later, I'm slick, smooth and cool on the bike whilst my grandson is the unmade bed ,, Thanks dad and Django, you have done more than you will ever know!!

"J'attendrai" (French for "I will wait" is a popular French song first recorded by Rina Ketty in 1938. It became the big French song during World War II; a counterpart to Lale Andersen's Lili Marleen in Germany and Vera Lynn's We'll Meet Again in Britain.
"J'attendrai" is actually a French version of the Italian song "Tornerai" (Italian for "You Will Return" composed by Dino Olivieri (music) and Nino Rastelli (lyrics) in 1936, said to be inspired from the Humming Chorus of Puccini's Opera "Madame Butterfly". It was first recorded in 1937 by both Carlo Buti and Trio Lescano (accompanied by the Italian jazz quartet Quartetto Jazz Funaro and become a huge hit in Italy.
The French lyrics were written by Louis Poterat, and "J'attendrai" became an instant success. Rina Ketty's version was followed the same year by one of Belgian chanteuse Anne Clercy, and both Tino Rossi and Jean Sablon recorded it in 1939. When France was occupied in 1940, it quickly became the big French war song, with the love song's title being interpreted as meaning waiting for peace and/or liberation.

I hope to one day cover it on my keyboard if I even can at all(since the piano/keyboard is obviously different than a violin or guitar). Such a lovely song that everyone should listen to. Yet another thing I like about the song is that all the string instruments are able to stay perfectly in tempo with chords(ik this is common in general and I do it on the piano but still, as someone who actually started playing music on drums this is kinda cool since it's so well composed that drums would ruin it(a rare conclusion if mine lol)).

When I had new students ( not being used to the size of the neck or stretching their fingers out when just beginning, the common excuse was ,My fingers aren’t long enough , or I can’t get them to stop buzzing...I’d put on a Django record and make them listen to it. After it was over I’d, tell them ,He only has two fingers and a thumb! Don’t worry, but please no more excuses. You just have to train your fingers until they work the way you want them too! Sometimes it might be the angle your sitting at and/ or the position of your hand. It takes awhile, but if he can do that with two fingers..we should be able to do something, ! IF they were driven they’d usually come back... ha

Amazing two finger guitarist. And that Stephan Graphelli aint half bad either. All together, all these guys were the players that brought gypsy jazz to the masses.
