    Great stuff. Hawes hostel looked like the 5-star treatment after 6 days camping on the trot!

    Great video Micky! Good to see you out and about again. I walked the Pennine Way in March this year - loved every step of the way...even the boggy bits mostly.

      @@nickspindler970 and most of the bits of the PW are boggy! Even in August….

      Good effort! full pack in '82 will likely have been 3 times what I was carrying weight wise!!

    I first encountered the Pennine Way when I was a member of the Grimsby Air Training Corps when I was about 12 yrs old. OK we only did the Gargrave to Malham section, but I loved it so much that I returned in 1975 to do the whole hike at 18 yrs old as part of my training to join the Brittish Army. Ten Days later I was walking into Kirk Yetholme. I return again after I left he Army for a North to South Hike. From that I heard about the Coast to Coast route and did that twice first from West to East and later the East to West route. Next for me was a John O Groats to Lands End and two yrs later it was a Lands End to John O Groats Hike. Then a 5 year break from Hiking as I went to live in Gibraltar, but on my return I was once again Hiking in the UK, so it was back up to John O Groats for my circumnavigation of the UK Mainland and I recently read that is going to be called the "King Charles Way" once the route is finalised. If you enjoyed the Hike to Kirk Yetholme as much as I did you may return again to try the North to South route. All the Best, Tony in Essex a recently retired Hiker

      Hi Tony - wow that is an impressive list of credentials! I have the SW coast path and West Highland Way on my radar at the moment - along with the Coast to Coast which I did 3/4 of in my twenties. John O Groats to Lands End is definitely on my longer term horizon, but as to the circumnavigation I wonder if that's a step to far for me! I think the insane amount of time it would take is probably going to be a barrier. Maybe one for when I retire!

      @@micky_hikes Unless you get to be Super fit when you retire I do not think it would be possible to attempt a non stop King Charles Way Hike in one go. As I only retire in July, I am now struggling to walk the 1k /half mile to my nearest Supermarket

    Nice one. On my to do list. There were times when I was thinking this was Jurgen Klopp does the Pennines! Has the Stealth been retired now or is it just having a break?

      @@AndyBell-jb7mp Ha! Actually you’re the 2nd person to say that…. What can I say, I needed some time to get my head back after a roller coaster at Anfield! And the stealth has now been retired. I’m not a 5 tent sort of person, I’m a find the right one and use that so the stealth has been sold after two years of interchanging it with the Durston. I loved the stealth but find the xmid is the best compromise of weight, space and ease of pitching.

      Watcha Micky, great vid, trail looks great so hope you enjoy!
      jumping onto this as currently looking in a trekkertent vs Durston dilemma.
      Don’t know if you know the TT drift but I’m looking at that vs the Xmid
      I don’t like bright tents so is the colour xmid of yours blending in enough for your liking?
      Happy trails pal 👍🏻

      @@stuartturner2668 The Drift looks really good - but vs the xmid I wouldn't like to have to choose! Might come down to price / made in UK vs made (where is the xmid made??) or weight but really very little in it.

    What program are you using to do those mapping segments at the end of the day?

    • @micky_hikes
      @micky_hikes  17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @@SDSsongs it’s part of the OS maps subscription. On desktop you can do a 3d fly through of the route you have plotted

    • @micky_hikes
      @micky_hikes  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nickspindler970 It’s a DJI osmo action - like a little go pro. I’m considering switching to just filming on my phone to save having another ‘thing’ to bring but also considering getting an slr to improve quality, especially sound (although a mic would also help with that…)
