How Does Purification Work?

  • God wants you to be holy, so he is going to set you on a path of purification if you choose to do his will. He is the one who is going to make you holy. This process is going to strip away many things you hold dear. It’s going to require active participation in his will, doing what is right and good. But it’s also going to require passive acceptance of things that are out of your control. See everything you do and experience as a chance to grow in holiness, and God will make you into a saint.

Why are not you God, sir? To be fair, why aren't I? Philosophically, we all have free will to Love more than Jesus? I am nothing without Jesus or I am negative infinity. I love to theologize or philosophize, God allowing!

Praying for you and please do not give yourself a hard time. God understands you more than you understand yourself. He is so faithful and so merciful so please don't let anything nor anybody to hinder you from continuing to come to Him. He is always there for you and He will never leave you nor forsake you. Just moments ago I felt alone and disqualified, yet Fr Mike's words, filled with the holy spirit, opened my eyes and set fire to my soul. • @_Keith_
      @_Keith_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Depression, eh? I'd say I have a lifetime's experience with that. So in case it helps, I'll share with you some of my thoughts I wrote down a few years ago.
      Overcoming problems.
      December 14, 2013 (Religious references added 2019)
I've had a comparatively rough past few weeks, emotionally, as have a number of my friends. I spent the day thinking about things and came up with some words I figured I might as well share in case anyone else takes it to heart.
If I'm perpetuating a negative scenario in my life, I must be doing something wrong. I'm responding wrongly to my situation. The first and most important reason for that is forgetting my self and forgetting how to respond positively (helpfully) toward everything. The next biggest reason I think I'm responding to things incorrectly is a deep-rooted oversensitivity to negative things. Awareness of problems is good for the sake of meeting them with solutions, but to see only the problem without a positive context is a tunnel vision which can bring hurt or hopelessness, leading to desperation and faulty coping mechanisms like aversion or rejection in forms such as misdirected obsession or anger.
I believe the general solution is to realize what everlasting positivity & productivity is and to remember & retain that on some level in virtually every moment. If the negativity of taking a critical view is deemed valid, it should be subject to a perspective which knows appreciation.
I think part of the way to do that is to allow an optimistic assessment of a situation to come not only from specific, circumstantial reason, but also from abstract, philosophical, or religious, faith. If a paradigm of faith in something overall positive is used to provide the context for what a person perceives, then any specific circumstance can be met with the optimism of hope & peace. (Romans 12:12)
An example of a belief to hold faithfully in the foundation of a positive paradigm like that could be to agree that there is always the presence of opportunity in which you have the power to choose what you consciously will, what you align with, through the defining nature of your identity, and that the freedom of this creative power is a responsibility which you graciously accept. (Galatians 5:13) To connect that power to good will and to understand that power as a law of attraction (Thomas 41 Proverbs 4:23), you can have hope that you'll move in the right direction, so long as you take action from identifying with what you feel as overall morally good and are willing to separate in your identity from what you feel is bad. (Matthew 3:8 Psalm 51:10)
Beyond the scope of your self as a single person and your current ability to affect your situation, there may lie factors outside of your control that seem undesirable. I don't have all the answers on that one in me right now, but I figure the goal there is to achieve inner-peace through acceptance and reconciliation of problematic conflict. If the external conditions cannot or should not be changed (as with divine providence), then until a better way is found, it may be the internal world which requires change to accept reality as it is (as with the serenity prayer).
Learn to truly forgive your self and others, and I imagine you will know the graceful wisdom of inner peace through unconditional love. (1 John 4:7-16) I believe the key is in understanding a person's perspective as being drawn from innocence, though filtered through their failed human condition, and you can look past the mistakes to forgive that innocent person buried beneath their blindness. Do not condone the mistakes as right action, but do love the person who made them. (Matthew 5:43 Lev.19:18)
May be not the easiest task to embody all those ideals in perfect form. But perfection I think is meant to set the course of your direction, not exactly your expectation. So that's the idea here. Just trying to lay out some of my thoughts as a reminder of which direction to move in the complicated, forgetful mess that is life.
      ~☮~

sadly i'm not having an amazing day but i needed to hear this. evidently, i was an aweful mother to my daughters and it's being thrown in my face now. one issue is my exhusband is in our daughters life now after he has stayed away for years. i believe now that he's divorced for the 4th or 5th time, now he's telling our daughter's side of our divorce (i was wife #1) and she wants to "get to know him", she tells me. in my defense, i was a single mom, he left me in debt, i was going to college part-time and really struggling. i did the best i could, but that makes me a crappy mom and she's better than me.
Just asking for prayers for humility and acceptance of my shortcomings. Lord hear my prayer. thank you. I really needed this...

May all who have watched this and watched, like me, from a perspective of woundedness, wherever that wound is, find peace. It is my hope that the lord will help me offer up the pains of my wounds to help all those who are trying to become saints. Needed to hear this more than I can Express, because sometimes if feel that no matter how hard I strive for holiness, I am a pile of broken pieces.
In those moments, I find it helpful to ask the Lord to accept my agony at my defects and failings and ask him to accept that suffering, those tears, as an offering. As an expiation of the sins of my life, as an offering for the suffering souls in purgatory, as a means to suffer in union with our Lord's passion and in the Hope that my suffering can be used to convert sinners. In this way I feel my suffering has a purpose and in that way I feel that the Lord is purifying me, even in those moments when I feel far from purified or holy. Please, pray for me. I will keep all in my prayers as well.

I relive trauma I caused as well as trauma experienced & am filled with self doubt. My heart aches with the ugliness of my weakness and sins. I needed this. I've wondered every day if I'm going to reach my full potential, whether my work will do good or lead people astray. And now I know that this is wholly contradictory to how I pray every single day, "God wherever you lead me I will go, show me what I must do, because my love for you is so great", and I mean it when I say it. It is not empty. I merely need to trust what he tells me to do.

And then I see this video and you give the example of if someone wants to change the town and they're stuck there. Like right on time for me to watch it! And that is extremely true, this year has been a journey for me, I know God more than ever before. I still have a lot to work on, but He is great! He is here! We are being helped by him every second! We are never alone🥰 I love God, He is our King! The best King!!❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏 Thank you Father Mike, AscensionPresents, and everyone in the comments. You guys are awesome! It feels like, most of the time, that I'm not making progress, but hearing this I know I'll make it if I persist and keep saying "yes" to God.
