    Thank you so much Rob for all your great advice on the fork rebuild, I have also ordered the Spring Compressor from K2 too! A great series, it has helped me so much in my 1965 Series 3 Eibar restoration.

    Great bit of kit that K2 Customs tool....Works like a charm for even us novice green horns!...Good tip to use by Rob of Kickback Garage especially if located far from nearest garage like I am!...Only had slight bobble on first dismount then off to the races... Only missing the "anti shake rattle and roll" washers which can be added on anytime!

    The forks should be checked for straightness once disassembled. Take a long steel rod through the link bolts holes and run it all the way through both sides of the fork. Check the rake angle of the forks. Take measurements and compare with what they should be. Find a shop that has a jig to straighten if need be. Once the links are installed, check that the axle will be straight with a rod through the links.

    Rob, got my bike back from paint and experienced the exact same area of overpaint as you had for the TV...also having just finished rebuilding the forks, I now account for at least 12 of the views of this video :) thanks heaps

    If you ever get the chance Rob, could you make a video on a lambretta front hub rebuild, ive searched the net and cant find one. Im in the process of doing mine and while its not a hard job it would be beneficial to the lambretta community. I would try and make one myself but im terrible in front of a camera plus i have a face for radio

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Radio face here too.. Haha. Steve has one on padsth-cam.com/video/SK5No_wcur8/w-d-xo.html and changing the bearings on a drum is very streght forward. I have never done it myself because ive always ran hydraulic disk up front. I have however got a couple of wheels lying around, so can do it but it won`t be for a while. I`m pretty booked up over the next month and I have a fella with a non runner coming to me that I need to sort asap.

    • @matknight
      @matknight 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@kickbackgarage i saw Steves video but it only deals with the brake shoes, i was more interested in the bearing installation along with gear drive and seals. Almost done mine now, bit harder for me with arthritic fingers but look forward to your next installation Rob.

    hi Rob is there a video showing which way the bearings go on the forks?

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will feel it straight away if you fit them upside down. I use loose balls myself (there is a video of that) but off the top of my head the cage faces down.

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The brand doesn't really matter. I prefer marine grease for it's water repellent properties

    What grease do you use, is it marine grease?

    • @kickbackgarage
      @kickbackgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Craig, yes. I prefer marine grease in the fork because it has good anti corrosion properties and prevents water from washing it out. It's quite open to the road elements.
