@@ShakeoutNY Yeah my fav songs is Harry Bridges, but for sure And Out Come The Wolves is the best CD, one of my fav ever period!! If not Rancid, I loved Sum 41, Green Day, Blink 182, Bowling For Soup, Yellowcard and NoFx of course haha Still inspired by all of them for my music
Learning the songs from a band you like to get a feel for the song structure/style is a pro-level tip, it will skyrocket your progression like nothing else!
The advice to analyze the songs of your favorite musicians is really good! Recently, every time when I don't know how to develop my idea, I try to determine which band it's most similar in style, after I listen some songs of this band and try to analyze what they consist of, their structure Often it really helps a lot!
Feeling called out lol I did learn the entire American Idiot album when it first dropped. Both guitar and bass 🤣🤣 Still know Jesus of Suburbia by heart on bass cuz yeah! 🤘
Ahh thank you I’ve been working & writing on pop punk songs, & I used to be really trash at writing pop punk songs due to the fact I hadn’t written any to the genre but now I know what to do
as much as I love 2000s pop punk, I really want to learn how to approach writing songs like the story so far, neck deep, the wonder years, bands like that. If you could release it, that would be awesome!
The speedrun chorus holds up surprisingly well. I just listened to Letterbomb, and they get to a wordless chorus at 35 seconds as part of the buildup, and then the lyrics for the first verse start at 46 seconds
Thanks for this, I’m just starting out trying to write pop punk style music, and I find that lyrically I can come up with quite a lot, but any riff I create I pass off as not good enough, so I’ll refer back to this video now, thanks :)
hey man I really like your video! I think they would blow up sooner if you switch between the Daw view and the camera view as the main focus so people are more engaged with the video. Keep it up!
DUDE IMA CLONE OF YOU!!! I LISTEN TO THE SAME BANDS, AND I STARTED PLAYING WHEN I WAS 12! IM 12 RNN!!! Im your average punk kid, spiked bracelets, band t-shirts, guitarist, and the black eyeliner under my eyes like Billie Joe, and of course, the converse. i used to be in percussion, but i got kicked out, so now i play trombone, im kinda a loser, but im the "Luckiest Loser" -Bowling for soup, i got hit by a car a few days ago, and an ambulance driver thought i was cool cause i was wearing an offspring shirt XD
It's also fun to start with the chorus acapella which has the title of the song and is the part that the crowd eventually sings all by themselves before you repeat the chorus once more resolving in a thunderous seemingly neverending outro like you're Metallica or something - No "This next song is called..." introduction needed because the title of the song is immediately recognized by the fans who start cheering - Now they can't wait until the chorus comes by again so they can sing along - By letting the crowd take over just before the last time you repeat the chorus again they get a sense of unity and belonging like they're part of the band and not just an observer - Stretched out climactic outro with lots of guitar stunts while everyone cheers "Yay I can't wait to tell my grandkids I was here!" I heard Dave Grohl mention how Aerosmith starts a lot of songs with the chorus/songtitle and I realized I never did that for some reason 🤷🏼♂️ and the Toy Dolls taught me how important it is to get a crowd going and made me realize I'd rather have a humorous than a serious approach to song topics and lyrics I'll never be good enough to take myself seriously as a musician anyway and all I really want is for everyone just to have a good time
Istg if I can’t write a song like flyleaf, I will loose it… I love the song “Red Sam” (they are a Christian rock band apparently but I’m not Christian)
You added the Fat Lip Riff with the In Too Deep gif just to trigger us, didn't you? Well it worked! Hope you're happy! Lmao! On a serious note, thank you so much for this video! Really helped out.
Who’s your favorite pop punk band of the early 2000s?!

Tips on recording and mixing 2005 pop punk drums and vocals?
I'm looking at this because I want to play the guitar and sing. I have tiny hands, but I believe I can do it.
Thanks for the vid man

Bring the vocals up, both in volume and frequency and add more nasal. Pop punk sound isn't anyways known for the best mixing technique
I don’t know music theory so i have no idea how to even make a riff to start with let alone the chords beneath it
start by learning a lot of songs and gaining inspiration from stuff you like
@@ShakeoutNY ive started learning some blink songs, i want to create riffs like Tom Delonge does, thanks for the tips tho
@@ervin9720 for sure! just learn some more Blink and you'll get some ideas!

So did you reuse the first hook as your chorus? I didn’t hear you talk about what exactly you played for the chorus.

haha always. Glad it helped!
After listening a lot to Louis Tomlinson’s music here I am
Which guitar & what processing you using man ?
I use a few different guitars. This is a Fender Telecaster Nashville Player Plus. I use a Line 6 Helix for a lot of my tone.
Im having trouble with writing lyrics to it, I keep catching the beat instead of using my voice as an instrument
What program is used in this video?
ironically in 2005 almost none of the techniques used for writting the song in the vid were available.
Plug in?
