Bullshit this is the limit of the graphical capability of the Switch. I played X on the Wii U, I saw that constant HD, locked 30fps gameplay that 2 and DE haven't been able to maintain despite being on stronger hardware. And I have played Zelda BOTW, so don't give us the "this is the best that the Switch can do". Nah fam, Monolith has just lost key staff to the Zelda team and it is affecting their design and optimization capabilities as a studio. That is readily apparent for anyone who has played X and BOTW
I still believe this game is possibly the best rpg ever made. It struggled to get mainstream popularity due to the graphics and wii but i would recommend buying a switch just for this game to non rpg fans. It’s that good. I loved Xenoblade 2 but the first game is light years ahead of the second. I love revisiting the game because it took many hours to get the hang of what was going on but this time I’m speeding through it.
I stopped playing XC2 because the world was confusing and annoying to get through and and there were always enemies 5-10 times my level blocking the way like WTF?! Is it the same with this one too?
When a brutally honest review has nothing that bad to say about the game. But, in all honesty, this is easily the best game I have ever played. I've played Odyssey, BOTW, Galaxy 2 (yes, galaxy 2 is amazing and my childhood), and a lot of other games and this beats it easily. I've played ACNH too, but that's nowhere near as good as Xenoblade.
Honestly, it annoys me when the games gets rated poorly because the ‘bad’ textures or graphics... it’s better than the original and the 3ds version by a huge margin so the fact ign reviewed it worse than them is idiotic. This review is fair, the story however is one of the games selling points imo, it’s incredibly amazing in hd and holds up after 10 years
Agreed, it is a 90+ game. Everything in this game is better than in the original. Plus we got an epilogue, yes it is 12 Hours but for 60 dollars Great value for your money

Xenoblade is one of the best rpgs of the last 15 years. The only jrpg I would say ties with it IMO is the Trails games. If you never played it, this is a 100% recommendation. Even if you have played it, I still recommend it because the quality of life changes and additions really add to the experience. Monolithsoft needs our support so Nintendo keeps putting their faith in them.
I have xc2, ans well as Torna physical and played this back in the day on Wii and had to get this physical too. I am so happy this game is giving me such joy. I hope XCX comes at some point.
Regarding the graphics, I agree except for the bit about the water. The water in the original Xenoblade looked ugly as sin, and it looks better here, except around the waterfalls.

Sorry to say this but according to my knowledge, Shulk is still classed as an introvert. Yes he does talk but a lot of the time, he is still self-contained and only let's people in, when he sees fit. Reyn is pretty much a typical example of an actual extrovert and as you can see, their personalities differ greatly. Tho there are such things as introverts who can be extroverted I know this because I am one and Shulk does seem to be the same in some cases.

I honestly bought the game just for the setting of the two titans killing each other and creating life inside of them, but EVERYTHING from the story to the dubbing, to the music to the characters, just everything made me fall in love with the game in a manner I had experienced in no other game.
They didn't fix trading, you can only trade one item at a time instead of being able to choose multiple of the same item, so imagine if you need 6 items for a quest and decide to trade with an npc, you need to go through that 6 times instead of being able to select 6 of the item you need and trade 6 items of the same value or above But all the other stuff... It's pretty good
I hate the new menu. The fashion gear spoils that Fiora won't be with you for very long and the new gem menu is one long list that you have to read through and not the amazing color based grid system from the original. Massive downgrade, in my opinion. I also think the side mission hint system should be "off" by default with a prompt to choose to turn on after receiving your first request. I love exploring and solving what I'm supposed to do for side quests. That's half the fun for me. Having it on by default and no immediate sign that you can turn it off hampers the experience for people who don't like hand holding and enjoy the search and discovery aspects of side quests. I'm grateful for it being there, I just think it should be on a toggle with a tutorial to point it out. Otherwise, they did a great job. Those things just really bugged me because I know they'd ruin the first big twist for me and I'd probably never spend the time to learn about the gems if this was my first time using the system, and I'd just use strength and agility for everything, probably. I'm trying to think of it as if it were my first playthrough, and it has honestly made it hard for me to return to. I played through Makina Forest on the 3DS immediately after getting it before saving and leaving it for a rainy day, as that's my favorite part of the game. I've sat down with DE 3 or 4 times already and I'm only on the Bonis Leg. A stark contrast to my usual playthroughs where I get there in 1 sitting

This version of Xenoblade 1 is exactly the same combat wise. The only differences are that the game makes using specific arts a lot more clear and the chain attacks go by a little quicker.
@Hkg 1 Its more so subjective really, Xc1's combat is a lot more friendly to the majority of gamers while XC2 can be pushed to extreme levels. Both have great combat imo

Am I really the only one who thought this game sucked? It's more of an MMORPG but single player only rather than a proper JRPG. 95% of the game is just filler sidequest. Go kill 3 rabbits. Good! Now go kill 5 bats. Find me 3 wigs. Alright, now go fetch 5 berries. That's about 95% of the game. The huge maps are horrible to traverse, the Monado being the ONLY weapon able to hurt the Mechon (the MAIN enemies) unless RNG decides that you managed to topple the enemy is dumb as can be, the voice acting just gets on my nerves, the caracters as well (Melia and Riki....ugh...but also Fiora and Reyn but not as much), the combat system is the most boring ever. You do nothing but wait for your arts to charge up. It's not skill-based like an action RPG OR strategy based like a turn based RPG, it just fails on both ends. The game reminds me a lot of FF12 (which is my least favourite of the franchise). I have the same problems with that one. I love JRPGs but MMOs...not so much and this game is built like an offline MMORPG, where the main story takes a backseat so you can get busy killing rabbits and collecting berries for random NPCs (also there is no way of getting any indication as to where you need to go for the quest as you cannot select to follow it, making the sidequests all the more like a chore and mostly, a bore). I seriously don't understand why people like this game so much. The music is good, sure, but you can listen to it without having to endure a poorly designed game for nearly 100 hours, you know?! (Thanks TH-cam and Smash Bros.) Almost forgot to mention the crafting system. I wish I knew how to describe it well but I'm saddened to say that I can't find the words. It's horrendous. No way of really knowing in advance what you'll craft and to be honest, it's the ONE part of the game that's poorly explained though. The tutorials are actually pretty good aside from that one, gotta give credit where credit is due. Last and surely, least important point, the graphics. I played it on the Wii and I can't believe it's on the same console as Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Skyward Sword and Metroid Prime 3. Everything is just so ugly. I swear there are early PS2 games released in 2000 that looked better so, I really don't know why people say the game is gorgeous. Sure, the maps are big but a chore to traverse so....was it really worth it? Again, graphics are the least of my concerns though but I felt I should at least mention them. Anyways, there are too many good RPGs and games in general to waste my time on mindless fetch quests and battles in which you do little more than look with barely any thinking needed.
Just play on the casual mode, the game should be a breeze that wouldn't take too much time in that mode. A bulk of the progress comes from doing a crap ton of side quests, but cut a majority of those out and about 20 hours have been cut from the expected 90 hour run time. It's a great story and a great game, just pace yourself with it and it won't be that big of an issue.

I try to watch a movie a day, and I write reviews of all the ones I see on Letterboxd. I also play ACNH a bit every day, which I have since May 15th, when I got the game.

It seems like an amazing game, but it's not for me, a lot because it's too much of a time commitment.
When I played the Wii version, I loved it. One of the best 100+ hours spent on gaming.
Just play on the casual mode, the game should be a breeze that wouldn't take too much time in that mode. A bulk of the progress comes from doing a crap ton of side quests, but cut a majority of those out and about 20 hours have been cut from the expected 90 hour run time. It's a great story and a great game, just pace yourself with it and it won't be that big of an issue.
@@They_are_Arthur Thanks for the help, but truth be told, I'm more into movies than videogames, at least I've been for the last year. I try to watch a movie a day, and I write reviews of all the ones I see on Letterboxd. I also play ACNH a bit every day, which I have since May 15th, when I got the game.
