My top list for best 2019 classic riders would be 1 Mathieu Vanderpoel, 2 Alaphilippe, 3 Fulsang, followed by Gilbert, Wout Van Aert, Van Avermaet, Naesen, Van Marcke (got SUPER unlucky in Roubaix and worked for the victory in Flanders). Kristoff also very impressive in Gent-Wevelgem. Sagan didn't live up to his sky-high standards of the past three years imo.
@@william6171 Yea, but he said best, not fastest. And there is a character side, where Peter has no competition, and therefore is best for so many people.
@@hanys22 I would argue that some might mistake his confidence for arrogance. I would also say that Matthew Heyman was one of nicest guys in the Peloton, as is Yves Lampaert now (but I'm biased cuz I'm a huge Yves fan). However he does probably have the best "Showmanship" and laissez-faire attitude (untill MvdP came along) Edit: this is all just my humble opinion, nothing more.
Thanks, NBC Sports, and what I most like about Bob is that more than 30 years ago, he was a big-time pro on 7-Eleven and yet he still sounds like a true fan watching a race with friends. "Oh my God, so close! Five more meters and he gets the stage win!" And then he chuckles with delight.
Win or lose, you are still one of the best cyclist in the pro peloton. Having said that...nice stage at Amgen, welcome back Peter!
Hmmmmm..... He had a very doubtfull spring classics season, really don't think he's the best in 2019.
