    I used Stephan Maarek for the CCP. He was awesome. For the SAA I used Cantrill’s course and for the DA I’ll be using Cantrill’s again. I love tutorials dojo. Thanks for the video, subscribed!

    Thanks for the content! I've been an infra guy for a long time, but I'm pretty new to AWS. Looking at the domains for the exam, they seem to be standard infra topics. Do you find that on prem experience translates at all? I'm curious if my experience on prem gives me an advantage, or if the opposite is true, and I'll have to unlearn alot.

      Wondering the same thing -- I've been on-premises infrastructure for over 20 years. Now looking with a serious eye to the cloud. Did you decide to go ahead and learn AWS SysOps?

    Hey Trevor. What concerns me with AWS training is, I hear a lot of people talk about how hard they've worked to get AWS cert but I never hear anyone say they got a dream job with that AWS cert. I know AWS is hot but are there truly jobs out there for AWS sysops?

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yep - there's definitely jobs. Like a record-breaking, historically significant number of jobs.
      But... getting an AWS cert does not guarantee, or entitle someone to one of those Jobs.
      It is still a competitive workforce, so know that going in and figure out what else to do other than certs to set yourself apart.

    I just stumbled upon your channel. Great information Trevor! I just passed the developer exam and thinking of continuing to sysops now. Did you feel when you took the exam the you had adequate time for the multi-choice and the 3 labs?

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I did feel like I had plenty of time for the content, but the UI issues that I faced in a remote testing environment made my timeline very tight overall.
      So for the content it was ample time. I tried to leave 60 mins for the labs and not overthink the multi-choice. But would still strongly suggest taking the exam in person so UI issues with the labs don't take away any time.

    I noticed in Stephane's coarse he mentioned to maybe have the other associate levels first. I'm about to take the CCP and wanted to move to SysOps afterwards but don't want it to be too big of a jump. What's your opinion? For some context I've been working in a Service Desk environment for 2 years but new to cloud.

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think SA pro is where most people should start, but if you love SysOps technology then go for it!
      I think SA pro will be an easier cert for most people though. That is my opinion :)

    Hey Trevor! I am preparing for my SysOps cert (which would be my first AWS Cert). I have been in IT for a bit over 5 years working on operations roles, but kinda fresh to cloud. Do you think I should go through the SAA course content + the SysOps one (referring to Stephane Maarek's courses), or go straight to the SysOps one? Also I am curious about your thoughts on ACG course for both SAA and SysOps in the terms of quality and coverage? Cheers!

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd suggest SA associate first - but that's just my opinion.
      That's mostly because I found SA associate to be easier, and Sysops to be more difficult with its hands-on section.

    aws is yet to bring back the exam labs in sysops cert, So is it still something we should go for, or just take the architect pro instead?

    I am writing this Sunday. Have all the resources mentioned. Just worried about the labs

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will be prepared for the labs as long as you are familiar clicking around the console and you do the Tutorialsdojo exercises.
      2 of my labs matched the tutorialsdojo labs almost exactly, and the 3rd was easy enough to figure out reading the instructions and clicking around.
      I timed it so that I had 60 mins to do the labs (20min each) which was plenty of time, even with my UX challenges.
      Good luck!

    what is the easiest aws associate certification? architect, sysops or developer

    • @trevspires
      @trevspires  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Architect, in my personal opinion. Developer is a close second.
      Sysops, I found to be the most difficult.
