Nice video! It reminds me of some birds I've seen in 2015. I miss the landscape, the plants, the birds even the rice and black beans!

Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the video 👏🏻 you must have seen a lot of interesting birds when you came to CR! Hopefully the next time you come you can check a few more species off your list. And of course, enjoy plenty of the CR cuisine 🍛 Saludos!

I absolutely love this place. He is very knowledgeable and is a great host! I'm a hummingbird photographer and the number of species is outrageous. Hard to photograph with all of the flowers and how spread the garden is...but man the snowcap feeding on the pink flowers makes outstanding captures!

You’re right, it’s the perfect spot to see lots of species, and Miguel is so kind 👍🏻 We got to spot the snowcap for a moment but didn’t have the chance to photograph it, hopefully we can go back soon and see it for longer. Such a beautiful hummingbird. By the way, we have been following you on Instagram for some time, and your photos are stunning 🤩 Thank you for watching our videos, I am glad that you enjoyed this one! Saludos y pura vida 👋🏻

Has the Scarlet -rumped Tanager regained full species status? On my two trips to Costa Rica I was told that it had been split...Passerini's Tanager and Cheerie's Tanager.

Hi Richard, thanks for watching, and for your observation! Yes that is correct, previously they were separate, but after more research both species have once again been grouped together as Scarlet-rumped tanager 👍🏻 That’s wonderful that you have been here before, hopefully you can make it down again for another birding trip soon! Greetings & pura vida 🤗🦜🦥

How many species can you expect in an outing? Family and I are going in mid-March but I'm slowly learning species

That’s awesome you’re coming to Costa Rica, I’m sure you and your family are going to have an amazing time! There are plenty of birds to see all over the country, the amount of species you can see per outing will vary a lot depending on location, time of day, and if you have a birding guide with you to help you spot more species. Overall, in most places you should be able to spot 20+ species over a few hours on your own. I’d highly recommend downloading the Merlin Bird ID app (and the Costa Rica birds pack) before your trip, it will be a great tool to identify more birds along the way. Have fun and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’d like any recommendations on good birding spots in the areas you plan to visit- you can send us an email to hola@wondersofcostarica.com and we’ll be glad to help. Pura vida and thanks for watching 🦥🦜🌺

Yes I have Merlin and eBird. I've been checking those lists to see what folks have been getting. Another friend suggested we hit Monteverde but not sure if that's what we're doing

@@mrmosty5167 Excellent, yes, those apps are super useful. If you go to Monteverde you’ll definitely enjoy it, there are beautiful nature reserves, plenty of birding hotspots, hanging bridges, and some of the best canopy tours, plus the climate is refreshing. Hope you can make it there! Pura vida 🦥
