I both love/hate variants. Some of the covers are so amazing and you want nothing more than to get them, however, EVERY issue does not need multiple variants. There are many times that it is WAY out of hand, and other times that it makes sense. THANKS JAMES!
I have that ultimate fall out variant and I’m sending it out to get it graded next week….can’t believe I bought it from midtown comics for 10 dollars when it came out and now it’s going 15 thousand or so….hope I get a good grade!
@@MintHunterComics yeah never thought the price would skyrocket that high…..also have a copy of the ultimate Spider-Man 1 variant….think I got that also from midtown comics for 10 bucks lol.
Midtown was good back in the day before they changed there website now its all confusing .... they used to send there ratio vatiants in top loaders which was cool ,, every variant i got from Midtown came back a 9.8
Such a great topic. I have shifted my collecting to rare books. Thanks for helping me with my collection. So many grails on this list. Thanks for another great video.
I WAS HAPPY TO SEE ANOTHER VIDEO POP UP! Great video! Love the variant covers! I don't HAVE any, but it's still nice to see what is trending. Thanks for the video!
Thank you! That was very informative and represented a lot of hard work on your part. I love variants...too much really. I was not even aware of the Uncanny X-men 297, I'll have to keep an eye out for it now. Much appreciated!
It's crazy how much these variants can be worth over cover A. My first exposure to a modern one was War of Realms: New Agents of Atlas - Mico Sauyan variant that has shows the first Filipina superhero with the Philippino flag in the background.
I love varient covers! It just can be a slippery slope imo as a new collector. But I always do collect alex ross or del otto varients whenever I can from my LCS. Those vampirella covers look fantastic too! The ltd 50 and 100 ones have kind of a J Scott Campbell vibe to them! Fantastic covers :)
Awesome list. Amazing Spider-Man 678 is my favorite book on the list. I have been chasing the book for years. The Wolverine 1 is another book I want very badly. The prices on some of these books is truly out of this world. Awesome job on the video!
When I recently got back into comics, I had no idea what people meant by variants. I used to think variants were bit too much, although there sure is a lot at great artwork that otherwise might not be showcased on covers. I guess they aren’t that bad after all! Great vids! Cheers!
I used to be a completionist, second print, variant, connected covers. I wouldn't give a second thought to completing the set. Then, the big companies started renumbering the books; resulting in more milestone issues and more and more variant covers. I finally tapped out when a new spidey book had like 14 different covers for an eight dollar book. However, apparently (thanks to your internet sleuthing) my variants have done me well. I can't claim to have 9.8s but my ocd does have its benefits. Looks like I may need to do some soul searching and see if I'm ready to let some babies leave the nest. I have four of your top ten, including #s 1 & 2. I went back through the list and if my books graded perfect (which is highly unlikely), put me just shy of 70k. Looks like someone has to find a presser and get some books out to cgc. Thanks for all your hard work.
Awesome video bruh! Go CUSE!!! Great work getting all this data together! I at least have one book out of all of these, I have the Star Wars Darth Vader 4th Print. I'm actually sending it off soon with some other books for my first CGC grading. You have a new subscriber! Thanks again!
I’m so glad Jedi Fallen Order was your favorite game because it was mine as well and it’s the reason Cal Kestis is my favorite Jedi. His character has great lore.
I will pick up whichever orderable variant I think is coolest for my monthly books, but I only spring for ratios if it's a first issue or appearance of a character/team I love.
Hmmm really considering looking into buying the low prints variants...but gonna have to do it online..they sell out to quickly at my LCS... glad you showed this video because most people say stay away from them... Outstanding job!!!
These are cool Variant covers. I pick up variants when I think the cover looks cooler than the original cover, but I normally seem to find to the original covers better than the variants.
Great Bane piece, I like his commentary. I enjoy variants, but not the extremely expensive large ratio kind as they seldom gain the astronomical value displayed here.
@@MintHunterComics I know, I kind of just take the strategy of buying a variant if I thinks it's cool at this point. Buying every one from popular artists in hopes of them becoming valuable feels like a fools errand. Then of course the one you didn't buy is worth $10k in 5 years haha
I go by the art work. If I like it I get it. I get variants because the art work is beautiful. I am never looking to hit the gold mind with any of them.
Nice vid. Thanks for the info. I don’t chase after too many variants myself. I do like certain artists though. I like the Adam Hughes Supergirl cover. The Venomized Hulk statue was very good too.
Crazy list. My favorites are the WW 38 Finch and EOSV 2 Land because I have them both. Lol. I would be happy to own any of these. Thanks for putting in the work to find this info. My other favorite is the ASM 678, I was only able to get the homage to that one. I believe its a venom book. Either way thanks again. 👊🏼
Wow, that’s one hell of a list! Being an artist myself, I really love the visual variety of variant covers! I have to say though, I probably bought way too many Alien cover variants, but I’m not complaining! 😁
In large I still believe most variants don't hold its value over time. Other YTers have also confirmed this with FOMO as a reason for its popularity over a perfectly great cover A. The ones here are outliers and represent a very small percentage of the large variants market. Great vid 😃👍
I❤️Variants!! My favorite on your list is Wolverine 145! I just picked up a Moon Knight 7th series number 1 variant where it has a head shot of Moon Knight and the word Schizophrenic on it! Hope that one makes your list in the future! It’s the 1st time I ever saw this cover!
I get that a lot of variants won’t get this high, but all you need is to get just one that might get there one day. I’ll spec on variants on comics that I like, which are most on this list, and then enjoy them for a bit, put them away and check maybe in a year or so. I’ll order the more rare ones from my local shop every now and then.
Holy cow, those are some crazy prices. I dislike variants, as a rule, the concept didn't really exist back when I collected. Seems like a trick to make up for diminished sales... but I could be wrong.
I got the Nabisco Wolverine in 2008 for about $175. It's slabbed at 9.4, but has never been cleaned and pressed. I think I'm gonna crack it for clean and press and get it signed by Sienkiewicz. I got the UF4 1:25 when it first came out. Finally got it cleaned, pressed, and slabbed. Pulled a 9.4. Pretty happy. I get a lot of variants, but it's either an artist I love, if it's a key, or if I'm trying to get a complete set. I'm blown away by the hype on later printings, because when I started collecting in the 90s, later printings were considered trash
I go for first prints, but I’ve recently been preordering the 1:25 Riccardo Federici variants of the DC Universe. They span multiple titles and look like pencil sketches.
I don't go after a bunch of variants, but some I will go after as Ling as they're not super expensive. But I mostly go after ones I just think look cool.
Variants can be pretty unpredictable in the aftermarket. I typically only but a variant of its something that I really want for the personal collection. I've got some lucky hits but again, wouldn't have expected it when buying them
I read the title as ‘Valiant Comics’. I was like…there are 50 popular Valiant comics? 🧐
Hahaha I think only two of those are valuable 😅😄🤣
I wish. I collect those too @Terrence Coccoli

Never even seen like 80% of the list. Crazy prices but cool info. Great jobs James
I never used to be one for variants. But they are making some awesome ones now. I bought way too many Venom #200 variants.
I STILL hate variants but these might be the exception not the rule haha
So happy I just found your channel. Excited for all the comic news to help me in my searches.
i love this channel for this reason on how they do these top 50.s, top 10.s etc.My favorite Variants are Budd Roots nude Cavewoman Variants.
Oh dude NICE choice, also thank you for the compliment!
@@mikeswiental4815 There's no value on those in the price guides.Though or is there somewhere you can find the values of those books

ayyy ynice copy of a great book man! cheers!
So many variants crash and burn, but obviously not all of them! Great vid as usual James, thanks!
Wow great variant information. I always look forward to watching your videos.
More to come!
Would like to see a 50 least valuable variant comic list...would probably own a couple in there
I'm convinced nobody reads Vampirella, it's just the amazing covers that keep it going.
Idk about that, I read the digital copies and they're solid!
Great video, I got to see a few covers that I wasn't even aware of. Thanks!
Another great vid, awesome work! I've always loved variants since the beginning. I still have both covers of Man of Steel.
Same here!
I’m happy I watched this because even though I’m not big on variants the info is extremely good to know.
Amazing spider-man #4 Ramos variant and Silk #1 comicspro variant. Both go for around $1,000. Great books
Another entertaining video! The Red Hood Mattina variant and Gothan City Sirens #1 by J.G. Jones and Supergirl and LOSH #23 are on my bucket list.
