I am a Brazilian fan of L.V. I also just hear his part in the coolio song ... and his songs that I had heard for some time now ... I have this album "I'AM L.V." on my cell phone .. .
My favorite version of “Gangsta’s Paradise” has always been the one done by L.V. alone. No disrespect to Coolio, he does hold his own on the rap version, but L.V.’s vocal stylings and depth of emotion make the song outstanding.
Its been almost 20 years ago when I first heard this version of gangster paradise song at a house party. I didn’t know who the artist is, so I spent years searching for it in vain. I have finally found it today and it hard to describe my life excitement right now. It’s a shame that radio stations don’t play this version of this song.
Some people, only idiots though, would say this is glorifying gang life but I would say it’s the complete opposite. Read the lyrics and you’ll understand that the gangster lifestyle brings nothing but misery, suffering and death, not only to the gangsters themselves but it’s poison infects their families as well. This is a fantastic song and I would content that it’s also a cautionary tale that the path you choose could have very dire consequences for not only you but friends and family as well. Thank you for posting this! I’ve already subscribed!
Lots of gangster rap followed that concept, it was largely a crying out of the poverty and violence, both individual and systemic, that permeated their environment. It was the government that made the ghetto through redlining and strategic zoning, but those in power play stupid about our ability to unmake the artificial economic segregation we have inherited.
I'm not a fan of rap music in general, but this guy is one hell of a singer. Edit. Yes i fucking got it! It's R&b After more than 1 year and 15 comments saying the same thing one would think I received the fucking message.
For so many of us born right after 1990, L.V's lines were the first rap lyrics we learned. I still remember I was 5 y.o when the track came out and I was obsessed with it.
This version actually goes along great with Coolio’s version. Collio’s is about living in the gangsta’s paradise, wanting to escape. L.V.’s goes into further detail about the paradise
No, he has that crown, my friend, kings don't leave their thrones easily, even though the person who made this song is dead, I am motivated by this song of his, this song is the king's song.
Wouldve cut record sales though if they were competing with each other. Record company only cares about $. Unless they would've just included this as an extra track on coolio's album or something
I’m just now finding out about this version on 9/3/2021 at 5:51 p.m. when I saw LV’s interview about how Coolio did him 😳😬 and ummm, I’m adding this on my playlist 🥰😍😘🙌🏽👏🏽
Has lower quality for everything except the Coolio version, so it's either the original Demo before Coolio got on it, or was done after the fact. Now I see why when Coolio's version was performed LIVE with LV after the final chorus LV would add the "Ain't no Gangsta's, living in paradise" to close out the song.
I've just found out this version. An interview that Coolio and L.V. had at the Howard Stern Show made me realize that Coolio heard L.V. singing it and was inspired to write the rap part. You learn something new ever day. Almost 10 years ago I found out that Stevie Wonder actually had made the original version. Every version is different though, because they have different lyrics. I like how in the Coolio's one they took off the "eh ohm" part. The chorus and the bridge are masterpieces anyway and the choir was a fantastic extra too. So I guess we have to thank L.V. for that.
Why do I come to find this just now?... TH-cam, this time you dissapointed me. Next time suggest me other versions of songs I already like, like original versions if I happen to like covers... Please take note. Yes. I'm talking to you, TH-cam.

About the things that don't need to be
Here we are at the place where it all began
People can't you see
Thought you knew about the West Side
East side Gs on the creep and go
Only living for the day, never worried about tomorrow
Always tripping
Now we're slipping
Ladies bitching
Babies missing
From the evils of the world
They been spending most their lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
We keep spending most of our lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Power and the money, money is the power
Ain't a damn thing funny

Cause I don't have that long and I know that it's wrong
But I live by the G's rules and it's on
So don't you trip, 'cause I won't slip
I keep my Gs by my side and my thing on my hip
So don't you creep by my hood without your heat
Or it's the grim reaper that you're sure to meet
Ain't no gangstas living in paradise
Ain't no gangstas living in paradise
Tell me why are we so blind to see
That the ones we hurt are you and me
They been spending most their lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
We keep spending most of our lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Now here's another that comes to mind
'Bout a sister that put herself in a bind
She keeps praying on the day that her
Man would come home from prison to stay
The life she's livin'
The love she's givin'
The pain is killin'
The stress she's feelin'
From the evils of the world
They been spending most their lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
We keep spending most of our lives
Living in the gangsta's paradise
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
Eh, ohm, ah, eh ohm, ohm ohm
