This car truly marks the end of an era for Buick. I would say its a safe bet to say that you will NEVER see another vehicle made with Buick badges have a V8 engine. What a sad time we live in.
Just picked one up for $1800 today it does have 219xxx but same owner since 9k miles and was meticulously cared for still seems like an awesome deal and drives amazing love the features
I have this car but it's a 2007 and it's black! Love the power and great interior, gotta love that 4.6L V8! I do wish it was RWD, but hey i'll take the 275 horsepower! Also have a 2007 LaCrosse CXS.
David Minns hey I have a 2006 one it great do you have any tips on how to keep it kept up like what type of oil to use how often to put oil transmission in the car
just picked up a '07 CXL with the North star V8, (L37) what a car! only had 24,441 miles on it! and I found out that the CXLs with the North stars are pretty rare. Buick didn't make very many of them, if you've got one hang onto it. I know I will.
@jonathan7thno While head gaskets in every engine can leak the ones in the 2006-2011 Lucerne and Cadillac DTS will not leak from the problems associated with the Northstar in the 1990's, as for your friends 06 Lucerne, there are more than a dozen things that can cause an engine to "run hot", and if it really happened to be the head gasket it wouldn't have been because of what the problem used to be, as for the Lucerne in this video, just because Kyle said it had just come in doesn't mean anything, the dealership probably got the car in on trade, you know how almost every person who buys a new car trades in their old one, beside the fact that it only takes 5 minutes of running for a car to show signs of over heating, to which this car clearly wasn't. As for dealerships wanting to sell V8 models before the V6 models, that couldn't be any further from the truth, the V8 and V6 models were designed to fit the needs of two totally different people, a salesmen would have taken into account the budget of a buyer and what their preferences were, if a customer came in with a 15,000 dollar budget and only wanted a car that drove nice, and say there was a Lucerne V6 for 14,500, and a Lucerne V8 for 19,800, a salesmen would have bought out the car closer to the customers budget, why would the salesmen spend the time trying to convince a customer to buy a car they cant afford when he/she could sell them the car they fell comfortable buying in half the time and move onto a new sale. Since you clearly do a bad job of pretending to know something about this car and engine, I will tell that that the reason Northstars of the 90's and early 2000's blew head gaskets was because of a weak bolt design that would eventually cause the head to separate from the block causing the engine to blow a head gasket, but in 2004 Cadillac used a new bolt design and the problem was gone, not to say it was impossible to blow a head gasket as like I said before every engine made can blow a head gasket. Northstars are great engines that will last up to 400,000 miles, it's such a good engine that even with the head gasket issues of the 90's the Northstar was featured on the Ward's 10 best engines list for 3 consecutive years form 1995 to 1997.
It does remind me of the Impala, but it is more refined. I have to say a couple of years ago I really liked the way they were produced. But today I would probably buy a lacrosse or Regal GS
I just bought a 2006 cxl in 2021 and it only has 130000 miles on it. Got a tune up and had zero issues. It's also has super blacked out Tint. We lucked out and only paid 3600 for her!
i have the same car but a CX only and it's still a beautiful car. Honestly I like the 6 seater better anyway but this looks gorgeous too. My first buick and I my next car will probably be buick again.
This car reminds me of the oldsmobile aurora. Thats what I was going to buy, but they are so damn rare in Canada. Instead I'm going to buy one of these, still a very nice car.
I have a 2008 buick lucerne cxs with the 4.6l v8 as well. Pearl white. I haven't seen another around my area before, does anyone know if they are really that uncommon like the video says. Just always wandered if they were or not never seen another v8 around.
Yes that is the way some of them came and depending on the color of the car it looks very good with the rims like that instead of the chrome like the rest of them had...
@JohnC-rz7cy it's holding up pretty good, whoever had it before me had kept it up in good shape, I just had replaced the lower control arms and sway bar that's about it, other then that the motor is very strong and It had 116k when I first brought it, no lights on the dash and runs quiet
@michaelhinton6239 the 3800 is a much better engine than the northstar. My mechanic said it's hard to find shops that work on northstar and dealership won't touch them
I got the all black interior with sapphire colored gauges... I love the car but for whatever reason I like the khaki colored interior more. I will say I'm currently going through either an oil leak or a bad sensor right now on it though =/
The Buick Lucerne is a Nice Car....Nice Outside,Luxurious Interior, and a Smooth Northstar V8 in the Higher trims....though the 4 Speed Transmission abit dated (even the 2011 Lucernes have it)
The styling is pure Buick, A minor quibble: The dash needs to be 2 large circular clusters with a small circular cluster between, That would be "Buick" (Think first Gen Riv, Or 1977,84 B/C bodies. Somethin like that)
steven giuffrida In 2007 GM introduced the Buick Park Avenue in China, which was an upscale RWD Holden Commodore, and was sold there thru 2012. I wish they could have bought that Park Avenue over here to slot above the Lucerne.
@@hakeemsd70m And moved the FWD platforms mid-sized car/compact crossover (W, H, K, G, Theta, etc.) and up to the RWD Sigma and Zeta platforms, including the eventual Regal.
i can tell your camera does not like loud noises when u closed the hood the sound blanked out for a sec but nice video btw if you could could please do a ford club wagon if you can
The Buick Lacrosse Super was a neat one as well. There hadn't been a v8 in a Buick Since, what? 1996? Maybe we'll see one soon, given the other GM RWD's around.
i like buicks, but was never a huge fan of the lucernes. they were suppose to replace the park avenue. id take a park ave over the lucerne anyday. sucks how buick downsized the car and made it more imported car lookiing lol (if that made any sense) 2005 buick parka venue ultra is my fav modern car, but the new 2011 regal looks pretty bad ass to. to sum it up, the lucern sucks :p great vid though kyle! thumbs up as always!
great video. im not a big fan of that color, too much silver, gray shades of newer cars now. oh well ,and i didn't care for the wheel color, but your video is great and in love this car.
@Mrjmoyer78 Your right about that, I wonder why Buick ,Pontiac and Cadillac uses/used Northstars in their big luxury cars there pretty loud. The Northstar is suppst to be a "High Performance engine" that has to be run hard to prevent oil consumption and carbon build up. It doesn't really make since to me why a motor like that was planted in a luxury car...If I spend $50,000 on luxo car I don't expect to hear much engine noise & have to drive like its a sports car IMO.
Lower gears, that way if you are driving down a long or steep hill in 2nd or 1st gear you don’t ride the brakes going downhill and burn out the brakes.

i like this car only because it has the northstar other than that....I LOVE THE buick lesabre and park avenue than this and the lacross b4 the newer design!!!! this is when buick GM started goin euro with there designs...
these 17" rims (RPO N75) were originally in a painted nickel finish; but unfortunately over time the paint fades and chips off leaving them discolored and ratty looking; my own CXL V6 has the Chrome Plated version (RPO PA2) and they usually have the dreaded corrosion peeling around the beads which means you're constantly putting air in the tires.

i found one
Completely heartbreaking
I wish they still made the Lucerne
Nice looking car. Wish they'd bring back the 3.8
my brother has a 2007 buick lucerne CXL tour edition
Just picked one up for $1800 today it does have 219xxx but same owner since 9k miles and was meticulously cared for still seems like an awesome deal and drives amazing love the features
Beautiful old school Buick. The Nortstar engine sounds amazing. I would love a Lucerne CXL, CXS, or Super in purple, gray, or black. (:

How’s it holding up
This is different than any Buick... absolutely love it!
I just picked this car up at auction today it has the V8 44k original miles one owner no accidents . Can't wait to cruise down the highway in it
I’m driving around the 2008 Lucerne CX and it is a fantastic car
I have mines in black and I love the car, still runs really good ❤️

I love these cars they are luxury and bargains!!!!!!
Just drove my 06 home yesterday...cxs in Pearl white with chrome. The v8 is scary fast
OMG! I was looking at one of these cars myself. These Lucernes are so beautiful! I love all the new features man.
I like those side vents on the Lucerne man.
Really like how you did the bass demo. You should do that in more of your videos!

Great vid, the quality looks pretty damn good to me.

I love the interior of the car. It reminds me almost like a Mercedes.
Holy sh**!I love that Northstar sound!
Thank you for this review Kyle. It is appreciated.
I just brought a 06 buick Lucerne today, wish it was a north star V8 engine but it's smooth and quiet too, i hope it can last me awhile
Hows it holding up, I'm thinking about buying a 2006 with the northstar

@michaelhinton6239 what engine does yours have? I have heard bad things about the northstar. That alot of Mechanics and shops won't touch them

@michaelhinton6239 the 3800 is a much better engine than the northstar. My mechanic said it's hard to find shops that work on northstar and dealership won't touch them
I feel for some reason saabkyle04 always gets the floor shifter models and not the cool column shift ones.
With all kinds of vehicles. Such as Lincoln Continental or the Chevrolet Impalas.
I got the all black interior with sapphire colored gauges... I love the car but for whatever reason I like the khaki colored interior more. I will say I'm currently going through either an oil leak or a bad sensor right now on it though =/

im 19 too and own a 98 cadillac so your not alone
Weird, I have the 06 v8 cxl too and the shifter is on the steering column

The Buick Lucerne is a Nice Car....Nice Outside,Luxurious Interior, and a Smooth Northstar V8 in the Higher trims....though the 4 Speed Transmission abit dated (even the 2011 Lucernes have it)

wow this is nice. I thought the northstars were only in cadillacs. but i guess i was wrong

It literally sounds like it has the old style Delco-Remy horns and not the Fiamm AM80S that would've been common for the time.
@vboiz7 it is the hd cam just he said it takes to long and fails so he wont for now when he gets a better net connection he will i think
