Today i decided to take a trip up to Bristol Airport to try and get some good footage to start the New Year off. I don't normally get Saturday's off, but i went up even though the weather didn't look to promising. I filmed at the usual 09 end of the runway in Winter's Lane. All flights took off and landed from the runway 27 end....and this time i came better prepared. I recently bought a larger step ladder, so i can now see over the fence unhindered, and also stand on the top platform quite safely...It works well !!! It rained lightly to start, but for the majority of the morning it cleared up for a while. I called it a day around 1.30pm as the weather clamped in very fast from the West, and it got pretty damn cold too.

That was one great compilation, Steve! Looks like a great airport for spotting, love the spray from the wet runway. Really liked the Titan livery.
It was about time i went up there and did another video !! Today seemed to be the best for Aircraft movements and weather. I too enjoyed the spray and vortices from the approaching planes. Titan is a superb livery.... i also was glad to have captured that Challenger too...thanks for the comments.
You have given us a much better view than a passenger gets when travelling through the airport Steve. I used it last year for the first time for many years and was quite disappointed by the restricted views from inside the airport.
Great video. How lovely to be able to get so close to the action - used to be a viewing gallery at London Airport but no longer!
This is probably the best position for getting close to any action at Bristol Chris...The 27 end of the runway is more difficult as the main A38 road is in front of the field used by most spotters !! Not good in my mind...Glad you liked it...shame about Heathrow these days.

Thanks Bob. It seemed a good day to go back and try and improve on last June's upload. I like wet weather and it can help to get some good spray captures....i was lucky with these and some good vortices off the wings too. Cheers for the kind comments....
An impressive selection of aircrafts that you have captured Steve! Seems like you have been well equipped for the task and the filming wouldn't have been any better. Thank you so much Menu....this was probably the best choice of Aircraft to video at this time....normally Bristol Airport doesn't have a great variety of Aircraft types. Nice to be able to get some different ones. I particularly enjoy the challenge of trying to film them during takeoff. Hope you are well..look after yourself...best wishes.

Thank you Walter.....it gave me something to film as the local Steam Trains don't start again until late February i think. I like to vary what i video sometimes, gives me a few more strings to my bow...lol !!

That runway is a bit short a lot of reverse thrust,some nice shots Steve,like Dave it made me think of booking a holiday,Rosie loved watching this video with me as she has always wanted to go to Heathrow and watch the planes coming in and out..Cheers Chris.
The runway is 6,598 ft long... reverse thrust is nearly always used. Not a long one by any means. This is the second video i have made here, the first i think was last June. I hope you both manage to get to Heathrow sometime,although it would be a bit manic for me to video there., i bet Rosie would love it. Thank you so much for the comments.
***** When we were a lot younger we lived in Aden for two years my brothers and I would spend many hours a day watching the planes arriving/departing.Comets DC6,DC3,Britannia, Constellation,Heron and loads more,plus all of the RAF planes great times.
I will take Rosie to Heathrow one day,when we go by on the M25 she is shouting "look at that one"and i'm trying to battle my way through that traffic.Cheers Chris.

Thank you very much for the great comments....I can only make these Aircraft videos from time to time......recently only the normal Airlines are scheduled...i.e Ryanair, Easyjet, etc etc. I am always on the lookout for different Aircraft/Airlines to film at Bristol. Cheers.
What camera were you using
I was using a Panasonic HC X800 camcorder then. Now i have got a Panasonic HC X920....Steve.

Michael Vowles Hi Michael, My first video was 17th July 2013. There were also some more made in April, September and November 2014. I have just uploaded one this week 2nd February 2015...Up to 2013 i never thought of Filming there, and usually do Steam Trains etc...but i have caught the bug, and like to go up there more frequently these days. Just like going back into the past for me..Keeps my connection with the Airport going into the Future hopefully...S
