So I'm only 20, my band teacher in highschool introduced me to MCS cause he thought it'd help me out (I was a troubled kid, always in rehab, had an ankle monitor hospital's, suspensions etc). I deadass cried so hard when I was able to see them live, they've helped me so much. Best part is I'm from MN :)
"For the first time in a long time, I can I say that I wanna try. I feel helpless for the most part but I'm learning my eyes. And the sad truth of the matter is I'll never get over it, but I'm gonna try to get better and overcome each moment my own way." This little chunk of lyrics pop into my head whenever any moment is weighing down on me. I may never get over it, but I gotta try to get over those moments as they come along. Thanks for helping me out, guys.
I can’t believe this album came out in 2007. I remember being a teen, staring out the car window with my earphones in listening to the beautiful songs on this album and getting in my feelings. These lyrics still speak so true to me and I will always love this band so much ❤️
A powerful song full of celebration and energy. It's interesting that he was inspired to write this after watching "The Devil and Daniel Johnston," which is a great movie, but not at all what I think of when I hear this song.
This song is one of the most under appreciated songs by this band. I don't know many people who liked this CD, let alone listened to this song. Personal favorite.
I always felt that this album in particular describes me a lot in so many ways. But these last lines of the song, and the album overall, just break me down every single time "I so want to get back on track and I'll do whatever it takes, even if it kills me." I've struggled with my life for the past 3 years straight and I just found out what Justin meant by getting back on track and do whatever it takes...even if it kills him.
Even though I was bumping MCS all along, I almost feel like I still missed out because I never felt the real impact of some of this music until this very moment. Thank you guys so much.
I love this band so much! Because of Justin Pierre I want a Left handed Tele Deluxe '72 I could watch them play all day every day. they are so good live!
Wow even with the tuning Justin’s voice sounds incredible. The mix overall is incredible. I’ve know about them for over a decade and this is the first song that has peaked my interest.
@buddytyree "Hold Me Down" is a masterpiece :) and i think you're right, "Even If It Kills Me" is a wonderful album, both lyrically and musically...is like Justin can write what i've always wanted to say but never did, in a unique way.
always cant get enough of all MCS' freshest songs..they still have that certain 'something' that makes you listen to it over and over again..and of course, smart lines and funny way of telling a story thru a song..
every element in this song is very solid and supporting each other, that's why when i listen to this song (i don't know the lyric at that time) really gives me a "motivation message" to move on and face every problem :) i can say that this is the best song from motion city soundtrack, great job guys, i'm serious :')
Getting the titled and a picture tattooed on me for my 19th next month. This song makes me feel teary every time. Such a good band, and my favourite ever song
I love that song along with Last Night, the Conversation and Calling all cops on EIIKM best songs on that record, i love pretty much MCS has put out, Now Severance and Major Leagues... damn! i love this band!
I don't see how anyone can hate on any MCS if they like any. It seems like such a foreign thought. I love this song, this album, and every other song and album they have. The whole band is just great. I guess I'm just a more blanketed fan.
Commit this to memory is the best MCS album I am the Movie and Even If It kills Me are tied for second and My Dinosaur life is a close third.(doesn't mean it's terrible, It's just not better than the other three) MCS for life!
@buddytyree I totally agree with you. I don't understand all the hate on this album either. It's their most successful album, and there's clearly a reason for it! I can listen to this album day in and day out, and never get bored of it. Each track flows seamlessly into the next. "The Future Freaks Me Out" is the first MCS song I ever heard, but "Even If It Kills Me" is the album that made me a fan!
@rayMacy i couldn't agree more with you...i just can't understand how a MCS fan couldn't like the album "Even If It Kills Me". Btw this song's one of my fav ever, and i can totally relate to the lyrics as well...it's just perfect :) MCS rule my world!
@TheRocketAnse hey i love this album too! I honestly don't know which is my favorite, but there are some amazing songs on the album. This and Broken Heart are unbelievabley good.
@joejoesasleepyhead Oh Ok. It's good that you can relate to this stuff! =) I have lil' problem myself, so I hope things are going better for you! Peace =)
@McSFraNtic71 hello helicopter is a really really good song in my opinion infact i'm gonna go listen to it now - not my FAVOURITE but definitely up there ;)
This band is fucking CRIMINALLY underrated

2023 and still doing whatever it takes!
This band has helped me get through so much over the past 10 years, it's not even funny.
That makes two of us
Awesome :)
Four of us
Make that 15 years
i will never forget when i heard I Am The Movie album for the first time back in 04, so many memories linked to those tracks.
2019 and still here. MCS was, is, and will ways be in the top 3 of my favorite bands. I love this song so much.
I feel you bro
Yup.
1. Eyeshine
2. Motion City Soundtrack
3. The Rifles
Same here. I saw them live in 2009. I really need to see them live again

I think this is the best he's sung that song live. He doesn't always hit his notes but he nailed it here.
I saw him live a few years ago and he absolutely hit every note.
I've seen him twice this summer alone, definitely hit the damn notes
This is actually better than the album version lol
There’s auto tune in this performance lol.
He’s great live. But AOL wants things “perfect”. I’m not a fan, I prefer the imperfections of reality.
@@agreen182 if they want it perfect, they should consider turning the damn drums up :P
It's so nice to hear the moog so clearly and I love how well Justin sings in this one
This one is my favorite of theirs
This song gives me so much hope when I'm down. I honestly would have given up a long time ago without Motion City Soundtrack.
Wow,.... how have I missed this group for as long as I have? They are brilliant.
crazy how unbelievable they are live
LAMBDA, LAMBDA, LAMBDA. Go Nerds!!
soundtrack of my life. "I so wan't to get back on track, and i'll do whatever it takes, even if it kills me." ok, bye.
hi
I fuckin love this song

i think his voice is beautiful when he sings this song :)

worked a show on their last tour and justin is a pretty cool guy. Great show and so happy I got to see it.
Omg mcs has been and will forever be one of my top 5- they have got me thru SO MUCH PAIN
I remember Even If It Kills Me back in 2008. It's nice to listen to them again. What a voice omg
didn’t miss a fucking note. chills in the last chorus.
It's all about that last chorus
This is one of the cleanest live performances I’ve ever seen & heard! Sounds just like the album!
I love this band so much! Because of Justin Pierre I want a Left handed Tele Deluxe '72 I could watch them play all day every day. they are so good live!
PC on, cs.16, school, friends, living without problems... i miss this
agree. also love hello helicopter and It had to be you on that one. Don't forget about the last song on the new EP, Pictures of Success- great song.
Genius.
Wow even with the tuning Justin’s voice sounds incredible. The mix overall is incredible. I’ve know about them for over a decade and this is the first song that has peaked my interest.

my favorite song from them
Great live footage from MCS! Thanks for sharing!
Powerful and profound. This is a very deep, emotional song, but I'd say beautifully positive and empowering. Love it!
always cant get enough of all MCS' freshest songs..they still have that certain 'something' that makes you listen to it over and over again..and of course, smart lines and funny way of telling a story thru a song..
sums up the last 4 months of my life. i thank this band so much for this song
This is so properly and wonderfully fuckin’ played
I love the way they finished that album, you know, saying "...even if it kills me". Really awesome!

That synth riff.. So simple. So damn awesome.
The Best song on their best album...pure genius. The last line of the album is also it's name....They are simply too good.
every element in this song is very solid and supporting each other, that's why when i listen to this song (i don't know the lyric at that time) really gives me a "motivation message" to move on and face every problem :)
i can say that this is the best song from motion city soundtrack, great job guys, i'm serious :')

@Brian12327 Congrats on that man. I read an interview or something somewhere that said this song was about him getting sober too.

@TheRocketAnse couldnt agree more

@buddytyree Hold me down is indeed their best song. I don't think the word EPIC is epic enough to describe just how epic it actually is..
This helped me get through rehab.

@McSFraNtic71 hello helicopter is a really really good song in my opinion infact i'm gonna go listen to it now - not my FAVOURITE but definitely up there ;)
does justin blend the ac30 and marshall stack? or is the ac30 only for clean?
for.the.first.time.in.a.long.time
@stanmarsh22291 I most definatly agree. The album wasn't half bad, it was just waay too studio-ized. Dino life is more back to how they used to be.
