When I got the snip my doc told me he had one patient that didn’t wait long enough and get the all clear first and ended up getting his wife pregnant again!
My cousin got her tubes tied, ended up pregnant. Fortunately, her fourth one was finally a girl. Her next tubal ligation was free. 1980's.

Well done, Heidi. VERY well done. This is EXACTLY how men get post surgery, or when they are sick. Mine totally whines and cries over the slightest thing. I totally can relate to being the wife in this situation. As always, you nailed it, darlin'. Couldn't have done a better job if I tried.

When my husband got his done, I had him set up in the basement. He’s on the pull out couch, with the tv, all the streaming services, ps5 and switch. These also a bathroom and refrigerator in the basement for all his needs. I brought his meals down and the kids would occasionally go down there to play video games with him. It was practically a vacation minus the soreness.
A week on the pullout in order to never have to pull out again!
Reception said the next available appt for my vasectomy was Dec 6th. That’s my birthday. I told them I’ll take the second next available 😂 - I’m going in next week boys! Wish me luck! Perfect timing on this video drop 😅
It isn't enjoyable but I've had worse pains. I recommend wearing jocks to keep them high and tight. The higher and tighter, the better. Briefs are insufficient. Do not let them hang. I repeat, do not let them hang!!!
My husband had his done a little over a month ago and he had a super easy recovery (and he had the older style with a scalpel, the no scalpel version is supposedly a cakewalk to recover from). Definitely recommend getting a few jock straps and a couple bags of frozen peas or corn (easier to mold over the area and way cheaper than an ice pack). Ice 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off for the first 2 days. Alternate ibuprofen and Tylenol (take a dose every 3-4 hours). Sit down and rest as much as possible the first 2 days, basically just get up to pee and go to sleep. Eat lots of protein and get plenty of sleep, both will help you heal faster.
Mine had a female nurse and a joking doctor😜 He was embarrassed and laughing through the whole procedure, didn't even know what was going on. Till this day he doesn't remember 😏

Been there... just last year. Sucked for awhile but now the wife is happy not fretting each month. So I'm happy too. 3 kiddos was plenty for us. That pep talk had me crying... Unlimited cream pies shirt coming soon? sign me up for one. :)

The part of the procedure they never prepare you for is the smell from cauterization. I was too preoccupied by the slicing and dicing part that I never considered my nostrils would be filled with the smell of my burnt Vas deferens.
Hopefully you have a big family though🙏

To be honest though, I was saddened to find discover that you guys decided on this procedure. I have massive empathy for Heidi and you as I know your last child bearing experience as inventory nerve-racking and traumatic.
All I wish was that you guys would have considered other options such as NFP including sympto-thermal method and or the Marquette method. Just breaks my heart.

I'll never forget my dad's vasectomy when I was in the 5th grade. I didn't really understand at the time. I only remember him being very upset bc he needed to shave and there were no new razors in the house.
I remember my dad sitting in the living room with an ice bag on his lap. Asking why are you not using the for the beer dad? Cause that is where all the ice went in our home😜
