@@JasonSadites quick question: do you know if there's any way to switch the assignment of an expression pedal using a footswitch press? for example, i'd love to be able to set my volume and then hit FS3 and have the same expression pedal control the wah position. Edit: I now realise you can set FS3 to toggle EXP 1/2 but this is on a global basis and it would clearly be much better if you could do it per patch.
Plus, you can configure fs5 to toggle the expression pedal from exp1 to exp2 in global settings/footswitches. which, confusingly, is what mine did by default.
Hey Jason, I was wondering... Is it possible to send or receive tap tempo via the FS jack? I have a Pedal that has a midi TRS jack that is made for midi/tap tempo and I would like to clock sync then.

i am using a TRS splitter and i have found the signal is really erratic from the tip side (the expression pedal is set to volume and it just moves all over the place with touching the pedal) is it possible my cable is no good or is it something else? any advice is greatly appreciated

hi Jason, a question please: Is it possible to edit the colors of the switches in "snapshot" mode to assign them colors? in the HELIX floor if you can but in the HX stomp I don't see this option, can you change the colors of the switches in snapshot mode? Hello, I just got the ep1L6 (the one without the switch) its only working properly with a TS on both sides (stomp & pedal), If I use a TRS to TS, Y cable for a switch its working partially. Meaning I can control wah, but no delay, reverb or volume. Same if I use a TRS on both sides. Any ideas? Does that mean I cant have the extra switch with mission pedals? Thanks
It’s been a nightmare how to set my hx stomp and a hotone footswitch. I just want it to turn the fx blocks on and off like 1, 2 & 3 buttons built in the stomp.
I guess I got this about a half hour too late what those inputs on the HX stomp did for me was to give up-try it on an MS3 where it worked instantly lol
Strange question. Snapshots only allows for parameter chamges or on and off blocks. Can I have stomp in snapshot mode and use the TT2 to change presets up and down? What I want to do is change amps with presets while changing parameters with snapshots simultaneously. Is that possible?
Just purchased the Stomp and was glad to find this video, very helpful! Along with a TRS cable and an expression pedal (in my case problem used as a volume pedal) could I use a pedal like the Boss FS5U set momentary to control tap tempo? I would like to free up the Tap/Tuner switch for other parameters. And I've always liked the FS5U for tap tempo, much quieter than switches on quiet stages. Thanks!

No problem...I have not tested the Stomp with an FS5U so I cannot be totally sure it is compatible. I have been using the Morningstar MC6 mkii midi controller with great success and loads of flexibility.
Jason, i've purchased a couple of your presets but for some reason all my distortions/overdrives sound terrible? Not just your patch but all of them. I'm going into a headrush FRFR any suggestions? Maybe global EQ or maybe somethings out of whack. this is with both my guitars so that's not the problem. Dont think its the headrush either because monitors/headphones sound just as bad

Yes you can do what you describe with one expression pedal. If you search my channel I have a couple Helix videos on how to do it and it would apply the same way to the Stomp.

I can't get an answer from Line 6. Do different expression pedals have different sweeps when used w/ the Stomp. I have a cheap Moog EP-3 that sounds fine w/ electro harmonnic Cock Fight. But it is crap w/ the Stomp. It is light a 'hi/lo switch w/ no smooth sweep as the pedal is depressed. So, does the Line-6 expression pedal sound better (like a real wah pedal)?

I've come across a problem I was hoping someone could help, I have set up a Rythm preset which uses Wah with my expression pedal,it activates with auto engage, this works as it should on its own, I also have an external switch which I use to activate a volume boost,delay and reverb, I use this for solo's,also works properly on its own, however if I activate the solo boost with footswitch my wah will not work, Hoping to get this to work as it would give me everything I need for a gig in a total of 3 presets, thanks for all your handy info.

I think Jason uses Snapshots view the most as he has a lot of songs he goes thru from Clean to Slight Breakup to Distorted to Lead tones but its up to YOU. Some do both Stomp/Snaps to cover both basis. Some do all stomps (like a reg pedal boars) some do all snaps for complex patches. that's why Helix is so greats. You can customize it for YOUR NEEDS

any external footswitch can be setup to be whatever you want it to control. just got to go into the Helix/HX product menus to set it up how you want it

Informative video, thanks! I have a dual switch similar to the tt2 with my HX Stomp. I have one switch set to be my tap/tuner. I am able to access the tuner by holding it down,however I am not able to get a tap function with it for my delay patch. Am I missing a step to get that to work?
Change the delay time parameter from milliseconds (ms) by pressing on the corresponding knob. This changes the time to something like 1/4 or 1/8 dotted etc. It will know work with tap tempo. Similar for mod effects like vibrato/tremolo.....
:( I was really excited to get this unit but I thought this jack could control amp channel switching, now I realize it's an in but not control out... That would have been handy but has no use for me now :(

The HX stomp can’t but both the helix floor and helix rack can, as they both have an output for this.

If your amp is controllable by MIDI it’s possible.
@ I am perfectly aware of that, and of course it isn't, it's a standard 1/4 inch TRS jack, I know all about midi and utility stuff, and yes, I know the floor, LT and HXFX all can but again, I am not looking into those, I want the form factor of the stomp. I am still interested on getting it but my mind set changed a bit since, I want it to replace a couple of effects on my board into 1 unit. And do the amp modelling as a backup solution/fly rig and I ill do the amp switching via an RJM mini amp gizmo which is how I've done it for about 7 years now. I wanted to eliminate that factor as well and just so it inside the box, but I could do that as well with my switching system but I would have liked the stomp to take care of that.

No Unfortunately you can only have 2 things connected. one switch and one expression, two switches or two expressions.

Hey Rob, yes you should be able to do that. Just have to assign those parameters to the appropriate controllers.

You will only be able to use 2 switches not all 3.

Yes you can use it to change to Snapshot mode or to scroll through snapshots.

But since it is HX Stomp, can I put the volume pedal in front?
Oh for sure..if it is an actual volume pedal you are using instead of an expression pedal you could put that into the from of the Stomp.

The HX stomp can’t but both the helix floor and helix rack can, as they both have an output for this.
If your amp is controllable by MIDI it’s possible.
@ I am perfectly aware of that, and of course it isn't, it's a standard 1/4 inch TRS jack, I know all about midi and utility stuff, and yes, I know the floor, LT and HXFX all can but again, I am not looking into those, I want the form factor of the stomp. I am still interested on getting it but my mind set changed a bit since, I want it to replace a couple of effects on my board into 1 unit. And do the amp modelling as a backup solution/fly rig and I ill do the amp switching via an RJM mini amp gizmo which is how I've done it for about 7 years now. I wanted to eliminate that factor as well and just so it inside the box, but I could do that as well with my switching system but I would have liked the stomp to take care of that.

Cause you have 3 switches, and with 4 and 5 you have two more switches. Exp1 and exp2 are for the two expression pedals
