Best music podcast in the biz...I adore it. The stories and name-dropping is brilliant. Quietly hoping for chats with Colin Hay, Paddy McAloon, Paul Weller and Chris Sharrock.
I am a fan of Prefab Sprout, MAW and Colin Hay's first album plus a couple of tracks from Wayfaring Sons, and the Icicle Works who Chris Sharrock drummed for once upon a time in the 1980s. I saw Colin Hay play to a small crowd in London in 1995 most of whom did not seem that interested in the performance talking all the way through it ( at least there were no phones to complete the scene) and he gave a great performance. He was personable and humorous. Seems fame never went to his head given the enormous scale of MAWs success, especially in America. I bought Looking For Jack for a couple of pounds out of a bargain bin in Woolworths in Southport in 1988 and it was a revelation, becoming one of my favourite albums. Every track is fantastic, especially Can I Hold You? and Looking For Jack. There is no filler and the sheer exuberance of many of the songs is uplifting. The more reflective numbers are also meditative. There are not enough superlatives to describe Prefab Sprout's musical genius, powered by the song writing midas touch of Paddy McAloon. Swoon still sounds great and so unusual, really idiosyncratic, and Steve McQueen, From Langley Park to Memphis, and Jordan the Comeback are all works of art.
Great mention of the back beat Beatles movie - I was 14 when Definitely Maybe was released - formed a band with my mates - we used to watch Backbeat constantly and speak to each other in quotes from the movie..... I am 45 now and a quote still slips out every now and again but they're usually met with confusion these days.
He’s good on that record, but given how mad Noel would get at him for not getting the parts, right I don’t think he’s coming back you gotta remember Noel plays the drums too, and he’s a better drummer than Tony😂

To be fair the tour should be done with everyone who's been in the band... Tony was there at the start let him do his songs,..,oasis wasnt just liam and noel.. So love do it right...
The biilliant thing is, you can pause this vid and find Noel Gallagher singing TGILWY w/ BB on piano at the very same Albert Hall gig. And Noel is, frankly, excellent. Never in my life have I heard a super star of music speak for over 10 minutes without them resulting into bullshit.
