You are very enjoyable to watch! I've been baking for 50 years and any new bakers out there can easily follow you. Very enjoyable to watch! Hugs from Ontario
YES YES YES!!!!! THESE ARE EXACTLY THEM!!!! Dayton Elementary School, Dayton Oregon. I was in kindergartner in 1985 and was there till 6th grade.. loved peanut butter bars and stop sign pizza!!!❤❤❤❤
I didn't have a pan like yours so I used a 9" glass pie dish and followed the rest of your recipe. They were amazing! Added to our favorites list. Thanks for sharing.
Yes. I had them. They were one of my favorite things! Born and raised in Southern California and our peanut butter and chocolate bars were different than this. They were very soft and the chocolate on the top was not a buttercream frosting, rather more like a ganache. And I am sure they did not have oats in them. That said, your recipe looks very good as well and I look forward to trying them out. Thank you for making small-batch recipes. I have a small family of 3 and these small batches are perfect for us! 🙂
I used to love coming into the lunchroom and seeing these! They’d always be on a piece of white cardboard with peanut butter oil stains under the bar. They were the best! 🤤
Yes, I had them in High School and they had a different name (peanut chews) they had a little crunch but they were soft and the top did not have chocolate! it was more like a glaze
I didn’t grow up with these goodies,I grew up with the cafeteria's wonderful apple crisp.Always checked out the menu to see when they were serving it,however,my 50 year old son loves PEANUT BUTTER so much he even puts it in pancakes and pizza,so I decided to give these bars a try,so I could surprise him when he comes to visit.I did make them and the were delicious!👍👍👍👍
This looks like the perfect recipe for me & my husband. But we're not crazy about the oats. Can they be left out & if so, would I need to add more flour? I really hope you can answer this for me because I'd love to make these. Thank you for sharing this recipe.😊
Yes!! I think your recipe looks and sounds the closest to what I remember. Glad you included the oatmeal in the cookie crust. I thought I remembered that being part of the flavor profile. I can’t wait to make these for our office holiday bake off. But I may have to use the larger recipe. I love that you include recipes for both sizes. Great idea!
The grade school I went to did have a cafeteria, but my mother made my lunches until I was old enough to make my own. I have vague memories of good smells wafting around the school around noon, but not as good as our kitchen at home, so I didn't mourn over missed meatloaf. lol Those cookies look great, though. Our toaster oven has a pan just about the right size, too. :)

I have never made it without the oats, if you left them out you would definitely need to add more flour but I'm not sure how much.
@@LeighAnneWilkes Thank you so much for responding.😊

Have you made these without the oats!
just to let you know you have 3/4 Tbs of powder sugar instead of 3/4 of a cup
Thanks for the heads up - got it fixed!
