Playing it this week as I was editing, I realized Bow in this game is straight-up Easy Mode. This isn't like one of those, "plays the game badly to trick you into downloading it" type of videos lol, but I will admit that SOME of my trouble with it was because I was using Greatsword

Charge blade can work tho, blocking enemy attacks should give players instant phials and go into Saed mode if they tap and hold. CB special skill can be that spinning attack and it deals more damage the more phials you have
Really this satellite game just makes me want to play more Rise. Like, the main appeal of the MonHun games is that beating enemies feels satisfying even if you don't get the 1.5% drop, but if you're just tapping and swiping there isn't much satisfaction to that. I could use a "walking outside" game though - if you can find one that's slightly less scummy Mr Spaceman I'd like to hear about it.
The game's monetisation really highlights how f2p mobile games in general work, i.e "make the game deliberately worse so people will pay to make it less worse" Yeah, think I'll just go play generations ultimate instead
I played it for a week now, 1-2h per day outside. I like having a reason to stroll outside. As a bow user, I practically never get hit and also always hit the monsters and it's hella fun because bow gameplay is comfy. Drop rates are insane though and I need several high grade bugs to upgrade my weapon. I wish there was something like a meat bait that lures monsters (like in pokemon go). I probably wont be able to reach endgame and this is not because the monsters are getting too hard, it's because I like collecting everything but Monster Hunter Now isn't like all the other MH games. You either do it slowly and legit or you do it via mock gps and have zero incentives. What this game does is practically advertising all the other Monster hunter games.
Eventually, you start to run into single weapon or armor piece upgrades that aren't even overgrade upgrades that use 100+ Anjanath fangs, 40+ Anjanath tails, 500+ hunts worth of zenny, etc. Everything is so expensive that it's not even feasible to p2w through it unless you're some kind of CEO. It's severely disappointing. Part of me hopes that this is some kind of placeholder and that, when they inevitably add high and master ranks, they'll replace the obscene quantities of low rank parts in recipes with more reasonable quantities of their higher-tier counterparts, but that's probably just a copium overdose
Maybe the material struggle hasn't hit me or that i stick to only LBG for the msot part is what saving me materials cause i rarely craft Wrapons and armour unless i absolutely need to or just Monster part i happen to have a lot of and not using it cause im not using their armor

When you said this game is for japan all the GO/NOW walking games like this instantly made sense. Japan is very small and like you said densely populated. Everyone walks and theres a low chance of walking and NOT running into someone. In america depending on where you live (aka us country/suburb folk) this game ends up being a glorified pedometer...

My thoughts exactly, especially around the timer and overall grind! Just hit HR41 and I'm trying to attempt the Diablos story quest. 75s is not enough time, especially against something like Diablos where it's roaring or digging underground, chewing away at the clock. The drop rate for tier 4 materials from 4 star monsters and above is painfully low. It's hard enough to find the monster that's rated at that tier, but being rewarded with only tier 1 materials at 4/5 star monsters honestly feels like a joke.
That Diablos took 4 days off my week of me just continuously trying every time my health regenerated. there were so many times I was one hit away but the jackass decided to dig, which pushed me away, which ate at the timer and then I lost. I use greatsword btw, which makes every hit count. I finally defeated it 2 days ago through sheer luck as I did a special true charge while it was beginning its digging, which interrupted it causing it to be stuck on the ground for a few seconds. even with that, I only won with 4 seconds remaining.
My first attemps for Diablos was at level 36? And I had a Paralysis Hammer. I´ve tried to beat that Diablos for a week. I got fed up and started grinding Legiana parts to build a Bow. I killed Diablos at my first try. The game is so much easier with Bows.

To be frank, it didn't take long for a game which revolves around sending your GPS data to a satellite connected to Nintendo's servers to lose any potential appeal. I've also just been trained to despise free to play games as they're all just constant advertisements instead of just free fun games which happen to have microtransactions. I saw someone on reddit say you get random parts from breaks, ie. you're just as likely to get tails from breaking the head/wings/whatever, and those parts are easier to break ofc. It sounds accurate to me based on what I've seen

Very stupid to suddenly not be able to cast a spell on a garden gnome. So I dropped it instantly. I've been meaning to give MonHun a try for ages, but I'm definitely giving this a pass because Niantic has shown me time and time again that they can't make a good game without bogging down already mediocre gameplay with microtransaction garbage. Maybe Capcom's influence can help but I'm not sure if it's even hope for that honestly. I guess what I'm saying is if I wanna play MonHun on the go I'll just pull out the PSP game, and save my walks for seeing the sights and taking pictures. That said, if Niantic added a bunch of stuff into PGo in terms of interactivity with your Pokemon, especially when it comes to taking pictures of them in AR, something like that /might/ be enough to get me to try the game out again. Not the garbage battling and gotta catch em all (and pay for more storage to keep them)
Your problem is you did the story too fast. You have to level up your weapons to keep up with the health pool of the monster. Also you need the lock on perk to effectively break the parts. It’s seems like some of the issues your having seems to be a bit of lack of knowledge. I know a bunch of free to play people who have have finished the story
I've had no interest in playing this satellite game of the series, but it's good to know that the combat didn't translate too poorly by the sound of it. IDK, maybe it's where I live, but the thought of walking around staring at my phone so much and trying to grind has never been appealing. If I'm out of the house I'm probably focusing on something else, and to paraphrase every parent when it comes to fast food "we have Monster Hunter at home."
Honestly, having played the game for about the same time period, I haven't felt any pressure to pay into it. I also haven't felt like paying would help me in any meaningful way to progress. I managed to git gud and completed the story with a 4/5 Kulu LS, which honestly was a little bit of a mistake, since that's just added higher tiers of monsters that I literally can't beat in the time limit, but the limiting factor for me has never been the monsters I need to hunt, or how much health I have... It's how much gather-able materials you can get, and the rarity of them. Heaven help anyone playing this game rurally. You'll be stuck praying that the one of three daily quests you get gives the gather-able material you need, because you absolutely won't have the gathering points nearby you in the real world. There's one gathering point in my whole town- a far cry from the three stops and a gym that PoGo offers. The first change I think I'd make is 'Make each map biome segment have a gathering point'. That would put 4x more on my local map, and mean I'm not absolutely stuck dying of thirst in comparison to anyone who's in a slightly populated city, who probably have inherited a trio of gathering points next to each apartment complex.
killing the little guys is a good tool to raise the special attack so I don't hate it. Palico paintball needs some work when I was HR 30 he kept marking 1-2 star monsters...
My biggest problem with these games is that they make me take out the phone and do crap on it while walking. Just give me a map with monsters or whatever, let me walk around to "collect" them and once I'm home I'll deal with them. Any walking game recommendations that don't interrupt the walking?
Ngl I like the timer cause it adds a nice tension. Don't mind the grind too much cause it's something you play a bit every day but yeah there should be a way to influence the monster drops more. Maybe you get points for a monster after you kill it that can be exchanged for specific drops. Also it's annoying not having data in a rural area cause you cannot exploit public wifi.
Hit all of the nails on the head man. New to the monster hunter series. Ive just passed 100 hours in world. I was looking forward to now, however the grind is to annoying. I needed pukie tails for a weapon upgrade. bout 10 tails. after 2 hours of playtime i had 3 - 4. The timer is my least favorite mechanic tho. Like you said, losing all progress, making mistakes cuz lack of time. it sucks. For me with the paying thing tho, i'd say, how about they would introduce crafting, like in the regular games. and sell some crafting bonuses. Like if your crafting potions, with a buff there is a chance, or bigger chance, to get a mega potion. While without its all manual or so. one side note tho, I miss charge blade. tho i dont blame em for that xD
I have the exact same problem but with an added problem of extreme lag, when it lags, the game runs slower, but you know what doesn't? The damn timer! So it eventually became the rule of "if you lag, you lose" and i can do nothing about it, also they say they increased drop rate, which is just a massive lie tbh, rarity 5 items are more common than any lower rarity items for some reason, and with all of this combined, i went from loving the game to hating it, i never played Monster Hunter before so this game is my first game in the franchise and it left a pretty horrible impression for the franchise, it's amazing how they actually f-ed it up

If you don’t have G5 weapons you shouldn’t be fighting 5 start monsters

Your problem is you did the story too fast. You have to level up your weapons to keep up with the health pool of the monster. Also you need the lock on perk to effectively break the parts. It’s seems like some of the issues your having seems to be a bit of lack of knowledge.

I've had no interest in playing this satellite game of the series, but it's good to know that the combat didn't translate too poorly by the sound of it. IDK, maybe it's where I live, but the thought of walking around staring at my phone so much and trying to grind has never been appealing. If I'm out of the house I'm probably focusing on something else, and to paraphrase every parent when it comes to fast food "we have Monster Hunter at home."
Honestly, having played the game for about the same time period, I haven't felt any pressure to pay into it.
I also haven't felt like paying would help me in any meaningful way to progress. I managed to git gud and completed the story with a 4/5 Kulu LS, which honestly was a little bit of a mistake, since that's just added higher tiers of monsters that I literally can't beat in the time limit, but the limiting factor for me has never been the monsters I need to hunt, or how much health I have...
It's how much gather-able materials you can get, and the rarity of them. Heaven help anyone playing this game rurally. You'll be stuck praying that the one of three daily quests you get gives the gather-able material you need, because you absolutely won't have the gathering points nearby you in the real world. There's one gathering point in my whole town- a far cry from the three stops and a gym that PoGo offers. The first change I think I'd make is 'Make each map biome segment have a gathering point'. That would put 4x more on my local map, and mean I'm not absolutely stuck dying of thirst in comparison to anyone who's in a slightly populated city, who probably have inherited a trio of gathering points next to each apartment complex.
killing the little guys is a good tool to raise the special attack so I don't hate it.
Palico paintball needs some work when I was HR 30 he kept marking 1-2 star monsters...

My biggest problem with these games is that they make me take out the phone and do crap on it while walking. Just give me a map with monsters or whatever, let me walk around to "collect" them and once I'm home I'll deal with them.
Any walking game recommendations that don't interrupt the walking?
Ngl I like the timer cause it adds a nice tension. Don't mind the grind too much cause it's something you play a bit every day but yeah there should be a way to influence the monster drops more. Maybe you get points for a monster after you kill it that can be exchanged for specific drops. Also it's annoying not having data in a rural area cause you cannot exploit public wifi.
Paintball stuff is obnoxious too

Hit all of the nails on the head man. New to the monster hunter series. Ive just passed 100 hours in world. I was looking forward to now, however the grind is to annoying. I needed pukie tails for a weapon upgrade. bout 10 tails. after 2 hours of playtime i had 3 - 4. The timer is my least favorite mechanic tho. Like you said, losing all progress, making mistakes cuz lack of time. it sucks.
For me with the paying thing tho, i'd say, how about they would introduce crafting, like in the regular games. and sell some crafting bonuses. Like if your crafting potions, with a buff there is a chance, or bigger chance, to get a mega potion. While without its all manual or so.
one side note tho, I miss charge blade. tho i dont blame em for that xD
I have the exact same problem but with an added problem of extreme lag, when it lags, the game runs slower, but you know what doesn't? The damn timer! So it eventually became the rule of "if you lag, you lose" and i can do nothing about it, also they say they increased drop rate, which is just a massive lie tbh, rarity 5 items are more common than any lower rarity items for some reason, and with all of this combined, i went from loving the game to hating it, i never played Monster Hunter before so this game is my first game in the franchise and it left a pretty horrible impression for the franchise, it's amazing how they actually f-ed it up
