    Great video. I was constantly having jams with my 25cal assassin. Couldn't get through a single mag without a jam. It would also pop the spring tension in the mag itself so I had to constantly repair the mags. I ended up putting a m14 washer inside the shroud and wouldn't you know...no more jams and no mag failure...20 mags straight

    Excellent approach to fine tuning this diamond in the rough. I was extremely curious to try pluging half the "vent" holes (every other one) and I do not have a 3d printer. So I got to thinking about what would fill that hole with a small rim to stay in place. Well folks, what I used fits so well I have a hard time thinking it wasn't supposed to be used. A SPENT 22 BRASS literally snaps into place, didn't even change the baffle spacing, give those a try in yours, I used a 30 cal HP but I believe your 22 has the same size shroud.

    I have the same pistol and the guide rod stripped off of the bolt. Its threaded brass into aluminum with like 5 threads deep. A definite design flaw. I believe the barrel was tightened so tight that it twisted the barrel causing so much friction against that rod and bolt!

    Took your advice and made some plugs for the barrel, I used 2 solid and 4 with holes, before I could not get though 1 mag without a jam , I just finished shooting 6 mags without a jam ( yes 72 .22 jsb 18g in a row . I have a .22 hp ss 8" barrel with the 350 size tank. Thanks for the tips,

      That's awesome, glad to be able to help people make there guns work. Definitely don't want to switch to bolt action (which a lot of people do when they don't work) when the whole reason to buy these is for the simi auto part of it. Did you also adjust the spring or do just the plugs?

    I ended up blocking the wholes off almost completely. And taking all the baffles out. That's becuz I added tension 2 hammer spring. Was getting 70fpe in .30 cal without jamming. I wished I had a slowmo camera, but u are exactly right. And I moved the plunger back 👍👍

    That thing you called a piston is adjustable. Mine came adjusted about an inch away from the thing where you put the plugs at the front of the barrel.
    The adjustment will do a better job than the plugs.

    I don’t have a 3D printer but I’ve tried the m14 washer trick and rotated the piece to adjust spring tension (3 turns). It works a lot better but still jams every mag. Tears up pellets. Gotta turn upside down and get chewed up pellet to fall out. Sometimes it will go thru a mag and then jam on last round.

    • @mtairgunner4044
      @mtairgunner4044  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had had people tell me that 22LR casings work as plugs also. If you have a 22 or stop by a gun range might be able to get some brass to use as plugs. The other thing you can try is to tighten up the magazine spring one rotation which might help whith the last round jamming.

    • @jon1613
      @jon1613 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mtairgunner4044 I’ll give those things a try. It’s almost comical at this point - every few mags the cover for the bolt pull come flying off, magazine jams or double feeds, random hex head screws fall out, a tiny spring flew from I dunno where, and chunks of chewed up pellet comes flying out sporadically. Why would anyone even sell this poorly machine and engineered garbage in this condition?

    My .25 would only cycle the jsb heavies decently. I wanted to be able to shoot the light ones, So I just made it a bolt action. It’s quieter, a bit lighter, more accurate,50fps faster and no puff of air in my face .
    Great idea too though!!!

    What about the spring that returns it maybe little stiffer and as short as you stiffen it so it has no rebound ?just a thought I don't have that issue ,but it's a good trick .seems we have to repair all aea for reliability!

  • @cell_creator
    @cell_creator ปีที่แล้ว

    Useful videos, especially the disassembly. Instead of trying to change the spring tension, and blocking the returning air, have you tried to damp the actual bolt hit when it pushes the pellet?
    With an o-ring or something similar? Since the problem is the probe rebound, it looks like that it hits something solid and bounces back. Maybe a simple o-ring somewhere in the assembly will dampen this rebound. Thanks.

  • @cyberbillp

    I would think your "piston reset spring" is just tired out. Did you try a fresh one before doing the mods? It sounds like you shoot your AEA a lot more than I do. Maybe that spring has a short life. Yea, watching you pull your bolt back, it looks like it's easy for you. On both of mine, it's utterly brutal. I can barely overcome the spring. It takes two hands, and it's really hard to hold the bolt open while changing the mag. On yours it looks easy. I think your spring might be shot, and with it being weak, that allows the bolt to slap back and forth.

    • @mtairgunner4044

    I'm looking to purchase one in .25 and I'm curious about a few things (coming from powder burners). If you block off all the vent holes, will that prevent the semi-automatic action while allowing the bolt to function? I noticed a divet in the receiver, is the charging handle able to lock into it? Is the charging handle removeable? Interested to see how much air is saved from not having to cycle the action - would be nice to have that feature on extended trips.

    • @mtairgunner4044
      @mtairgunner4044  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can switch it to bolt action if you wanted. Aea also has the varmint series that bolt action with a bottle. You can find them on the pellet shop .com. I don't think you will save much at all by blocking off the ports as it's using already waisted air. If your new to airguns I would look more towards a umarex gauntlet 2. You can get it in .25 cal, it's regulated which will help with shot count. You can join airgunnation.com and read about them both and ask questions people are nice and willing to answer any questions

  • @giovanniwestmaas5465
    @giovanniwestmaas5465 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The travel amount of the bolt after the shot is not enough to cycle another round in the chamber. The bolt has to go all the way back out of the magazine for it to turn for the next pellet. the magazine needs to be completely clear for it to cycle a next round.

    • @mtairgunner4044
      @mtairgunner4044  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Im not trying to be rude or anything just curious of what you think, like to learn as much as I can. So what do you think that causes 2 pellets to be jammed into the breach/magazine. Out of the different methods of testing this has worked the best to make it a lot more reliable. Thanks

    • @lastpro4438
      @lastpro4438 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have a weaker hammer spring then yes. If you don't have a jamming issues I wouldn't do this hack but if you do then this will %100 fix it. You just have to play with how much air is coming back. Also mine would cycle with shroud off, so the blowback is not the primary force pushing bolt back.

      Broken valve pin is the most common with those symptoms. If you have warranty left I would contact who you got it from and they will send you a replacement. If your out of warranty time frame you could check ebay there was a guy selling improved valve pin replacements. I haven't used them but have read some good things about them.
