    Somehow the most perfect thing ever, despite so much of it being completely imperfect. It slows down, speeds up, little glitches, coming in slightly wrong, stuff not quite on the beat. If this was recorded today, with the benefit of ProTools etc, it would be so much more polished and tidy. I love how natural and real it is. The isolation really lets you hear it all. Magical!

      Not to mention one of the greatest songs ever!!! The instrumentation is outstanding, and Ringo is not even the drummer on this song, having left the band temporarily over an argument with Sir Paul. The Beatles double LP (more famously, or perhaps infamously, know as The White Album) has some throw away songs, but on the other hand, has some songs that are phenomenal - Dear Prudence, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Happiness is a Warm Gun, Blackbird, Julia, Yer Blues, Mother Nature's Son, Sexy Sadie, Revolution No. 1, and Savoy Truffle - awesome songs!!!

    • @aaronquist8125
      @aaronquist8125 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Right? It’s sooooo damn good. And it’s unreal to think that he used that technique on 3 tracks for The White Album: Dear Prudence, Happiness is a Warm Gun, and Julia. Yet the tracks are so well produced, engineered, and balanced that they each feel like a distinct picking style despite being the same one. It’s unreal how much flavor he could put on Travis picking.

    Listening to these tracks isolated makes me even more certain that the drum overdubs starting at 2:03 panned right, are actually Paul. I never notice before that there are clearly 2 drum overdubs there panned right making it sound like impressive playing. Pehaps this is the reason why people assumed that part was Ringo, even when all the evidence points to it being Paul. When listening to it in isolation with the knowledge there are clearly 2 overdubs being played simultaniously, it sounds very much like Paul's style. The playing in this part is quite similar to Momma MIss America in sections.
    As others have said, at 2:20 ish when the snare drum sound changes sounds like the tea towel on the snare fell off, which sounds good in the context of the playing.
    I also always wondered why there was that other short drum part panned left at 2:09, but it sounds to me like a small part of the original drum track which was faded up for a couple of seconds. This seems to match the drums leaking in though other mics at 14:55 ish.
    It then sounds like the dual drum overdub ends at 2:35, returning to the original drum track panned right again.
