    Glad to see someone with local knowledge sharing a place that any tourist would never find.
    Great looking food and much quieter than China town in Manhattan. Would be on my itinerary when I can return.

    • @waiman5886
      @waiman5886 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Definitely Flushing is much busier than the Chinatown in Manhattan because Flushing is a very dense residential area. True that tourist don't venture to Flushing. But young Chinese families does not live or go to the Manhattan Chinatown anymore. Mostly very elders still live in Chinatown Manhattan. On weekdays Manhattan Chinatown is very quiet without the tourist and out of town visitors while in Flushing it is busy everyday. Weekends is chaotic.

      I live in Flushing, so many more places to try, dumpling houses, hot and sour soup, food on a stick, we even have a decent pizza place right on roosevelt. even though some places have closed, many are trying to hang on, thankfully the locals are starting to venture out. instagram.com/big.bryan.karaoke.foodie/

  • @izzy1563
    @izzy1563 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Queens looked like a normal Friday today. Lots of people eating in more and more elaborate outside seating areas. Forest Hills has gotten really busy the past weekish. People have returned for the reopened school year. Their schools are rated 9 and 10s. So far the NYC schools have had only 18 positives for Covid for students. It’s still early but that was out of thousands of tests. I was in Manhattan on Tuesday and it’s getting busier but still a fraction of the other boroughs. It’s startling how many people are still hanging in other NE areas.

    My Dad grew up in Flushing and I spent a good chunk of my childhood in Flushing (I’d spend summers with my grandma until she died in 1983) and I honestly don’t remember much of a Chinese community AT ALL! Did it build up in the interim time, or did I just spend my time just missing the amazing ethnic places (although my Grandma would’ve gravitated more to Italian and Portuguese places!)?

    The hkers on the corner by white bear make solid wontons & broke my moms decades long refusal to eat wontons. U can ask for non frozen ones. We r on a tight budget but we splurge for my mom. It's so right. And surrounded by glam options like dim sum next door & you garden soup dumplings & duck sandwiches, I think the hk couple are suffering. Those wontons. If they see this video, it would hurt cuz u guys are across the street eating. That's a good hk wonton noodle soup place. Boycott hot space Fka sentosa on prince street! I can feel hk pain from hk wonton on the corner of prince & 40th road.
