I do Counted Cross Stitch and have been trying to figure out how to add them to Denim jackets, shirts and other clothing. Thank You for a terrific tutorial on how to use Heat & Bond!! I'm presently counted cross stitching 14 different princesses to add to my granddaughter Gracie's Denim jacket and shirt. You are my life saver and without this tutorial, I'd still be confused about how to attach them. Thank You again! Judi
A great demonstration plus the lady has a wonderful voice and a great understanding of the English language. You came through so clear instructions were very easy. Thank you
Well , I guess I am called a wasband by now ....by default and I'm grateful to have found your channel. Wanted to learn different kinds of backings , and I appreciate the demo , as I learn best from watching . Thanks -
I used 3m spray adhesive to put patches on a heavy leather jacket, sprayed both surfaces let it get tacky the applied pressure, the stitched the perimeter. The patches are solidly on the jacket.
Thank you so much!! I am NOT a crafty person and need to hem up my scrubs for work. Totally didn't know how to use this, so I really appreciate your tutorial!! Blessings!!!
fabulous and saved my pants as I cut a hole in the hemline while dropping it to a 1/4. Thanks because I was a lil confused how to use the no stitch ultra hold to fix the small hole.
this is so helpful as i am making a cosplay with fabric and want to make my own patch like pieces on the jacket I have. I picked up the ultra hold and this is so helpful!
Awesome Awesome question can I use the sewable bond and not sew 🪡 it? That’s the only one they had and I want to add it to the back of a patch and and just press it onto the shirt 👚
Hadih🤲😲 I was trying to peel the paper first, sheez... Sne kalyegh 🤲 for this... right to the point...can't believe I was going to peel it first🙄😆. I don't have a sewing machine, I hand sew my crazy quilt...
I’ve been wondering why they say not to sew with the ultra hold, and now i know it’s bc it will gum up your sewing machine. But my project is putting patches into a denim vest, could i use the ultra hold & then hand sew for extra durability?
The permanent hold is not permanent. It starts peeling away at the edges. And bc its no-sew, it can't be sewed down. Its such a disappointment that it won't hold. I made art jean jackets with it and now the patches are pulling away from the fabric.
thanks for making this. If I use the light vs the ultra & I DON'T stitch over it can I take it off later on? I am making a costume & want to keep the shirt later to wear. I am adding some decorative gold transfer & fabric to the ends of the shirt. I want to remove it after I make my video. Is there a way to get it off later on? If not I was thinking of using the heat & bond onto a white piece of fabric & then attaching it to the shirt so I can take it off later on. Thanks
I have to iron on the numbers of a jersey to a new jersey. I was told to use the ultrahold since the numbers are a bit heavy. But I have to stitch them by hand too. What would you recommend for this project?
So even If I'm only gonna saw around the edges (extra-large patch on denim jacket) I should NOT use "Ultra Hold"? I should use the "Lite" version? Also, can the backing be left on? Thanks.
Yes use the Lite if you plan to stitch, because the Ultra will gum up your sewing machine unless you plan to hand stitch. You will need to remove the backing to make a bond cloth to cloth.
I wanted to add lace to a plain blouse that I have, and I was wondering if I would do something different with the lace. I was thinking that when I am ironing the heat n bond to the wrong side of the lace, it might kind of go through the holes in the lace and make the lace stick to the ironing board. Is there a certain surface that I should do this project on to make sure that this doesn't happen?
We make embroidery patches. We want to be able to offer the customer the option of ironing on the patch or stitching it on. If we use the Light Sewable bond, and the customer wants to just iron it on and not sew around, will it stay on their garmant? I understand that if we use the Ultra bond one it will damage a sewing machine. Is the only solution to ask the customer in advance whether they want to iron on the patch or sew it on and then use the appropriate HeatNBond.
i have two questions:) if your not applying it to something else do you still have to take the backing off? and can i add hot glue on to it to make seams arond my fabric???
this is better than the instructions on the bag but I still cant get anything to stick. Put in on a patch, waited for it to cool, peeled it off, tried to iron the patch down but just wont stick.
I have the Ultrahold and I've tried to use it so many times but it doesn't seem to matter what temperature I have my iron set at. The instructions say that the adhesive should be milky in color, not clear unless you did it wrong.... when I have the iron too high its clear and when I have the iron too low the entire thing peels off, adhesive and all @&!%$
I have an unopened package of the 17" X 5.25 yards of the Heat-N-Bond Lite that I would like to use but I know that I purchased it about 3 years ago. Is it still good to use ?
I already embroidered my design on a cloth and want to attach it to a t-shirt. Would either of these be appropriate for that, or should I look into something else?
Thank you! All the directions say is 'paper liner should face up', but doesn't say how to tell which side is the paper liner. The package does not differentiate which side is the "bonding first side" and which side is the "second peel off and iron" side.
Hi, could you demonstrate how you traced letters unto the heat and bond? Why can't I trace the letters into the rough side first than iron it onto the cloth and cut it out?
I agree, sooo helpful! Do you happen to know if sewing the outline of the pattern is a necessary step, or will the heat & bond be permanent on its own? TIA 🙂
I have a good machine but have tried to use the heat n bond a few times with the same problem every single time. I used the heat n bond lite but my machine keeps doing the slipped stitching after sewing an inch or two. There is no junk on the needle either. And have changed my needle as well. Can anyone sugest anything to help with this very annoying problen.
Hi! I bought the product this young lady is using, (HeatNBond Liter) from Walmart for a dollar and twenty nine cents. I found it in the sewing and crafting section. I haven't tried it yet, that's why I'm here, lol! Hope this helps!
Hey Steven Johnson just talked to the creator of this video and although it was 6 years ago we have an answer for you. The setting was on Cotton. Hope you’re doing well, Adam.
Will this work for paper crafting, if I use a disposable sheet of parchment paper to protect my project paper? If so, which would be preferable... the ultrabond or the lite? I want a good, strong, permanent bond of the papers. --Thanks for the great video!!
I'm also concerned about this too because I have projects made like this and they came off after washing. I hand- washed in warm water and also cold as well as hung to dry outside and the patches came off on both occasions. Haven't tried machine wash and drying. Although I noticed that you could heat press the patches again and they are good. But it would be nice to find out how to get them glued permanently or for a significantly long time. I do these as crafts for sale and would want to give my customers their money's worth. Helpful tips would be appreciated!
Thank you for the lovely informative tutorial. :) After viewing this, I am planning to do a project with the use of heatNbond. Question, What heat setting should I use for the Iron?
I actually, use my light box to trace whatever right onto the paper backing of the Heat Bond first. Then take it to the iron and put the bond on the fabric and cut it out. Last, of course, is too apply it to the actual fabric the ' shape' is to go onto.
I ❤ the way you explained everything but Omgh, holding the iron in place trying to get the backing to separate... did not work for me at all lol🤣!!! I tried these products before I saw your video and the same result🤔. So what I have done before was to take the white backing off and just place the clear piece on the back of my project. Then I held the iron without any steam. The great thing is it worked faster and I could use these products completely.😉
So this is not meant to be used as a fabric laminator? I'm not sure the purpose of it to bond fabric if you're just going to sew the object down. Just for thickness?
It does away with the need for pins, in the case of applique, and prevents fraying. It can also be used to put patches on ripped jeans or just decorative patches on jean jackets or bags. I personally use it to apply Boy Scout patches to uniforms.
Why did the cut out of the heat n bond need to be a smaller size than the fabric? seems like there isn't a reason for this, as you just end up cutting away excess from the fused fabric/heat-n-bond anyway
If only ALL of the tutorials on TH-cam were as good and easy as this.
Thanks for the tutorial!
I found the directions on the back of the packaging to be confusing, but this made sense to me!
Anthony Watson me too!
That’s why I’m here lol

I've never used Heat n Bond before, I'm so glad I found a good tutorial before I messed up. 😅
I used 3m spray adhesive to put patches on a heavy leather jacket, sprayed both surfaces let it get tacky the applied pressure, the stitched the perimeter. The patches are solidly on the jacket.

Fantastic! Thank you. I have both types, but I wasn't sure about how to do my applique! Thank you.
Thanks for the tutorial. Very clear explanation.❤
Omg thank you for this video!!!!! I finally tried this method and love it. Appreciate you!!
You saved my good shears. Thank you.
Can this stand being put through the wash??
fabulous and saved my pants as I cut a hole in the hemline while dropping it to a 1/4.

Great and clear tutorial…thanks so much!
Can the heat n bond ultra be used on embroidery appliques? For example, on children's clothing?
Hadih🤲😲
I was trying to peel the paper first, sheez...

can l print letters on the fabric with the cricut machnes?
Would this work with jewel appliques to be attached to a simple white t shirt?
If not what is the best method?
Thank you
Any tips on how to piece together the heat and bond scraps? Do you do it one scrap at a time or all together? Thanks.
thanks for making this. If I use the light vs the ultra & I DON'T stitch over it can I take it off later on? I am making a costume & want to keep the shirt later to wear. Thanks for a great tutorial. I was wondering if you are not sewing around the extra strength fabric once adhered, does it fray when washed? Thanks
Help please... which side of the tape has the glue. The smooth side or the rough side?
Will this stick to polyester? Or will the heat from the iron be too hot? I'm planning on adding a velcro loop panel to a backpack.
Can I quilt over heat and bond?
this a time saver for whom is not able to sew...like me!! ;)
Thanks!
How do you clean your iron after using Heat bond?
Can you leave tbe white part on?
Thank you very helpful for this newbie...you said so very easy to understand. Thank you
I have to iron on the numbers of a jersey to a new jersey. I was told to use the ultrahold since the numbers are a bit heavy. But I have to stitch them by hand too. What would you recommend for this project?
Can you do the same on hat? My uncle tried doing that on a hat and it wasn't sticking on it kept pealing off.
Great clearcut vid instructions thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
How many washes of a tshirt would the permanent heat n bond last?!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you so much!
Is there anything more pliable?
El festoneado se hace a maquina o a mano?
can I use this along with fray stop that is already on my fabric?
Unfortunately you omitted an important detail ---- what iron heat setting should be used .
The heat settings are on the product packaging.
read the package-
Medium
Thank you very much for your explanation.
You did wonderful.
Can you use heat n bond on 92% polyester and 8% Spandex?
What is the product number for these interfacing rolls?
will the fabric fray?
So even If I'm only gonna saw around the edges (extra-large patch on denim jacket) I should NOT use "Ultra Hold"? I should use the "Lite" version? Also, can the backing be left on? Thanks.
Yes use the Lite if you plan to stitch, because the Ultra will gum up your sewing machine unless you plan to hand stitch. You will need to remove the backing to make a bond cloth to cloth.
When you say “wrong side of the fabric” do you mean The unused face of the fabric or facing away from the fabric on the bottom side?
the wrong side of your fabric is the back side of the fabric. the side that the pattern is not printed on.
how strong is heatnbond ultrahold on with letters on a cotton drill banner?
Hi, for ultra heat and hold, once it's put on, later can I iron it with steam? thank you.
I wanted to add lace to a plain blouse that I have, and I was wondering if I would do something different with the lace. Carol Hoey if you don’t sew around the light bond it will eventually curl on the edges and peel off.
I can apply it and later paste it with the plank, when it is cold? Thank you.
Can u warm up tortillas with the iron?
i have two questions:)
if your not applying it to something else do you still have to take the backing off?
and can i add hot glue on to it to make seams arond my fabric???
Did ypu ever figure out if you do or not
will felt fabric work on the heat and bond?

Here's a great idea. Why don't u try it and see if it works. Smh
No. Use it for toilet paper and wipe your fucking ass with it instead.
I am trying to put frly on something and not sticking well. Winder if i use the steam would work better.
Heat n Bond ultra not working for me. The applique or patch just peeled right off
No links where to buy ?

+JN Tube i think it's because it's easier.
I have had no luck with the heat n bond ultra. It will not adhere to the second fabric.
can you use this to fix a coat sleeve
Thank you for these tips
Hello, would you please give me the name of the HeatNBond product you used? Thank you
Thank you this does help so much .

i have a question is the heat and bond water proof
If you get heat n bond vinyl then it will make the fabric waterproof if that's what you were talking about
Please where can I buy this bonds

can you wash it
Yes, it's washable, wearable.
For how long would it last on a tshirt ? Would it be peeled off after several washes or permanent?! Thanks n hope to hear from you
Instead of fabric can you paper
Thank you for the lovely informative tutorial. :) After viewing this, I am planning to do a project with the use of heatNbond. Question, What heat setting should I use for the Iron?
No need to sew to quilt?
Can you use any other cloth?
Thank you so much! Just saved me so much time!
Thanks for your tutorial. Can heat and bond be used on felt?
Hi, Grace. For me, the felt melted...ask a fabric store expert if there's another kind of felt.
I actually, use my light box to trace whatever right onto the paper backing of the Heat Bond first. Then take it to the iron and put the bond on the fabric and cut it out. Last, of course, is too apply it to the actual fabric the ' shape' is to go onto.
Mine is not sticking did I do something wrong
I used a cricut heat press
Alguien podía informarme dónde comprar por pliego este papel,,,Heatn BOND en la cd, de México gracias
what if you have the spray ? :(

What temp on the iron? Do you use steam? How long do you press for?
It literally says it on the package.. LOL DRY iron and 1-2 seconds.

Very informative, thank you.
You just saved me from a mental breakdown. Thank you
Does it stretch? Cause i like to use it on gymnastics leotards. That is 4 way stretch fabric. Do it has to stretch.
Jeroen Roosen sorry, no it does not stretch.
HeatnBond Soft stretch - orange swirl on package ...
Available at both Walmart & Joanns ...
