    Great tips!!! I'd also recommend researching the electrical outlet/plug situation before leaving your home location!

    The wig bag is absolutely genius! I never thought about how much you'd need to consider these things living in Perth!

      Oh absolutely! Unfortunately we can’t really drive quickly to any other major city lol

    Oh man I feel that on the iron, this past Otakon I went to use the hotel iron to iron some fabric for a last minute bit of crafting and something must've been stuck to it before and it left like this plastic residue on the fabric! It was salvageable, not big and I just made sure that wasn't the side facing out, but the hotel said that sorry, they didn't have any spare irons so I was glad that I knew enough other people also at Otakon (and in that same hotel) that two different folks offered to swap their irons with mine once I posted in the group chat (and they weren't cosplayers so they didn't need it!)
    I haven't flown for a con before but when I'm driving/taking public transport for a con (which is 96% of the time) what I've done is get one of those collapsible wagons, the kind you'd put kids in or maybe fill up with stuff to take to the beach, and just pull that instead of wrangling multiple bags at once. Only downside is that my apartment is a walk-up so I have to get everything outside and then load it in (I have made this mistake, legitimately got a few scratches that drew blood from it); now I give The Nod to everyone else I see at cons doing the same thing. XD

      @@KirileeCosplay Another friend replied with oh yeah they'd had something similar happen to them at a con and posted a photo of an iron you'd swear had been dredged up from the Titanic, it was covered in so much corrosion, honestly it was pretty impressive ^^;

    So glad you mentioned space saver vacuum bags! My friends were laughing at me for them until they saw how large of a belle dress I was able to pack alongside my regular clothes in one suitcase.

    Really good tips! We moved to a smaller town so now I'm traveling for events, these are so helpful. Have fun in Chicago!

    Another tip is carrying a small sewing kit with clear thread (horrible stuff) fixes any colour, great video and I hope you have an amazing time in America. ❤

    I'll be moving in the upcoming year to a spot that's far enough away from most conventions for my region that I'll have to consider flying and I'll be keeping all of these tips in mind! I might even use some of them for moving too

    This will be really handy as I am planning a trip to LA for Costume College in July.

    I have no immediate plans to fly to a convention in fact I literally booked a room 20 minutes from my house for a little con staycation but since I will be packing a suitcase I was like this may still have handy packing tips.

    I know when travelling with delicate pieces in the past I've used a mix of clean plastic ice cream containers and hat boxes just in my suitcase to get things safely to where they needed to be.

    I was actually in the process of figuring out how to build a secure wig stand for my current carry on luggage. I still might have to as the pre made ones seem to be 1cm to big in one of the dimensions for planes here in Canada but it gives me a good visual of a set up I can try to make myself if I need to. Thanks for all the tips!

    I once met a cosplayer who wore their wig onto the plane instead of storing it 😂 it was a good idea but prolly wouldn’t work with multiple wigs

    I plan on travelling to another country for a cosplay convention and I was to bring my Think Of Me dress that Christine Daae wears in the movie version of Phantom. I built a petticoat into the skirt and is not a detachable piece. Do you have any advice in how I can shrink a massive 6 foot wide ballgown with tulle and crystals and bows and ruffles into a bag? Should I vacuum seal it?

    • @KirileeCosplay
      @KirileeCosplay  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should most certainly vacuum seal it - it will reduce the bulk of the tulle so much.
