CBGs can be used to play any genre...folk, rock, metal, jazz etc.
You need to get a cbg with magnetic pickups ....

Hi! Thanks for checking out my video! 💜 I specifically build fretless piezo cbgs for their unique and gritty sounds. Im curious to hear what people think about their use outside of blues music. 🤔✨

Your voice is fine. Genre specific? Nope. Love the vocal fx

You are very kind 😉 The reverb and bit of harmonization from the TC Helicon helped enhance my voice a lot. ✨I agree. I think a creative mind can make these cbgs work in any genre. 👍🎶

You are as bad as me....I am my worst critic! You really never know what people will like until you put it out there. We will soon find out on the CBG's! I am feeling better and hopefully next weekend I will make some videos with these fine CBG's!

😄 You may be right. But, the most talented people I know are very self-critical, so we are in good company 🤩 I can’t wait to see what you can do on these cbgs!!! 🔥I’m sure my little corner of the internet is very curious as well. Get well soon, Mike❤️‍🩹✨

Don't ever think you can't sing, you certainly can, you voice brings to mind a singer called Jacqui McShee who is a folk rock singer from the 60's. you definitely have a voice and I like it.
as for the question as to whether CBG guitars are just for blues; no, you can use a decently set up CBG for any genre you put your mind to, I've personally used mine for country, rock, metal, alternative, they are diverse instruments in the right hands, I'd like to think it is possible to Chuck like Nile Rodgers on one as well. I know on even a Diddley Bow, it is possible to Djent and get some jazzy tones, these guitars are wonderful for creativity.

Thanks for the encouragement,JP🙏 There are some genres I can do very well, but I’m pushing myself out of my comfort zone these days. 😄 I’ve not heard of Jacque McShee… I’ll definitely check out her music. 🎶
I agree with you regarding CBGs and different genre. A really skilled player can make it work ✨ Thanks so much for checking out my latest videos🔥

@@psycheopera you are most welcome, I am now and always an advocate of everyone being able to sing, I sing quite well, better than I play guitar and bass at least and I do have a few videos up to prove it. exploring genres is always fun, all you need do is practice, every song can be sung with practice.
and you are most welcome, I am enjoying your videos a lot. it is amazing what can be done with these guitars, on a diddley bow if decent fret markings I can do at least 20 riffs, you're a better player and I am sure you can do 100's if you really wanted to ;)

Hey JP! 🎸 I look forward to checking out your channel. ✨Singing is definitely my way of figuring things out musically, so I'm definitely an advocate for it too. I used to teach ear training a while ago; singing was a big part of my method for teaching people how to transcribe melodies and chords by ear. When it comes to CBGs: if you can sing it, then you can play it. 😁I agree with you 100%... these instruments are amazing 🔥

@@psycheopera I've never quite seen it that way, I sing a lot of sings, I wonder how many of them can be translated to Cigar Box playing, I sing a lot of Sinatra and swing and jazz, should be interesting. Country on a Cigar Box, its got that rustic twang and lap steel slide sound after all

I think we definitely can do country well on CBGs; with jazz, we'd have to get creative with the tuning and playing, but, I think it could work : )

Killing it lady! I saw your note; things have been chaotic here at the ranch. I will certainly keep an eye out for you. I agree with @clemmcguinness1087 and @20runninginthebackground, I love your voice all around... but when you rock the blues... if you can say that... your voice is mesmerizing.

Thanks so much, Alex ✨💜✨💜 You’ve definitely inspired me to explore some more blues classics 🎶 Thanks for keeping an eye out for me; I really appreciate that 🙏 Hope things slow down at the ranch a bit 🌱 Great to hear from you🎸🤩
