- I test the new Bowtech Core SS - Super Smooth compound bow. I discuss the feel of the bow, and compare it to the Core SR also a new release from bowtech. We discuss the feel of the bow, and shoot it through a chronograph with a variety of arrows. We discuss the speed of the bow and if it's a issue for hunting, and shoot the bow at 18m to see the groupings of the bow.
Core SS Bow Specs:
Mass Weight 4.5#, Draw length 36-31" Speed 337 fps, Axle to Axle 31.5" Brace Height 6.25"

I had ordered the Mathews lift, but decided to let the money go I put down on it and go with the Bowtech Core SS. I love your reviews mate; you are the most thorough reviewer of bows on TH-cam...keep it up!
You chose poorly.
I'm satisfied with my choice. Either way, I'm the one shooting it and spending the money...so, I think what I think is more important than your comment...cheers@@michaelcolthart4006
Someone who hates the wind like me . Everything you said are my exact words about shooting in the wind😮
I’ve never owned a bowtech, but the core ss is the best bow I’ve ever shot. I literally couldn’t put it down. Thanks for the best reviews as always Steven 👌
I'm looking for some second hand Hoyt
Hoyt ultra elite
Hoyt alpha elite
Hoyt Contender Elite
Hoyt vantage pro
XT2000 limbs
You mean you had it in your hand and tried to release your grip on the bow and couldn't do it? cos that's what ' I literally couldn't put it down ' means
@@capricornmagic63 yeah that’s exactly what I mean the bowtech glued itself to my hand with their proprietary grip lock technology for 2024 if you didn’t know what that was for 🤙
*as a Mathews fan and shooter*
The Mathews module system is dumb. Their efficiency argument MAY be true but that $120 set of modules just means you don’t loose 3-5fps
The argument goes out the window if you’re making your draw longer or let off lighter too
It’s not quite as dumb as having to swap the cams for a DL adjustment, but it’s still dumb
Bowtech have me VERY interested when it comes to upgrade. The Reckoning 36 might be right up my alley
Exactly, i saw a comparison on YT between a new Mathews and a flagship bow with rotating mods (Bear, PSE?). Unfortunately i can't remember which video it was. With same poundage, same draw length and arrow both bows delivered almost the the same speed, the one with rotating modules even 1-2 fps faster. 120$ for the mods is hilarious, here in Europe i saw them for 150€ hanging in the shop. In my opinion it's just a way to rake in more money. A guy in my club bought an older Mathews for 300€. He had a hard time finding the right module for his draw length and the he paid 150€ for it with shipping.
Good review, helped me decide to get one of these.
Definitely on my list of future purchases. We just had an Australian pastor, "Andrews Sedric", preached in Mobile Alabama at my church Pathway. He was awesome. Thanks for the review I will have to try that bow tech. 🏹🤠👍
Mathews deserves criticism on the obsurd requirements of buying multiple mods aftermarket to change your bow set up especially for how much they cost.
And for the fact they keep putting that horrible grip on these bows….. but now with a 350$ shot sense!!!
The main plus to the Mathew’s mod system is the ability to change the poundage. I like having a 60# low let off bow that can go all the way to 80# with high let off in a matter of minutes. The whole draw length thing is a pain in the ass for the shop not the owner of the bow. Would it be nice to have rotating mods? Not at the cost of loosing poundage changes. And yeah I realize you can wind down limbs to get some adjustment but you’re not going from 80 to 55 pounds on the same limbs.
@@rockdogguide i guess if your into that sort of thing but then you're changing your sights/sight tapes, arrows, etc. I can't think of a scenario I would want to do that drastic of a change, or if I did I'd buy heavier poundage limbs at close to the same price of said mods. To each their own though as long as it get you out shooting.👍
I like 60# 80% for the majority of my target shooting. For hunting I like 80# with 85%. I run two site tapes. I didn’t realize you could get a set of limbs for a hundred bucks, however it’s definitely not a five minute job swapping limbs…
They deserved praise for it. It’s more efficient and stable than rotating mods and/or making limb adjustments and way easier/cheaper than swapping limbs. Not sure where your getting your numbers, but we do the first mod swap for free, after than it’s $35 to swap and $60 to purchase whereas a new set of limbs will be in the $250 area (installed). Mathews bows are on par with all the other major manufacturers’ flagship bows so that criticism is just dumb. And shot sense is optional…..smh.
Thanks for the review! Bowtech is also No. 1 for us this year🤘
Ever since my Evolve 35 (which your reviews convinced me to buy) I've been a PSE guy, and I still love them. However, if I was in the market for a new bow, the Core SS would be high on my list. Thanks for the great reviews!
Agree about bowtech's string. I own bowtech solution since it came out and just about august last year that i get serving separation around the cam. I shot average amount of arrows with hot condition in malaysia and i think it does have a brilliant string life to it. Now i got the gas bowstring as a replacement and will compare it to stock string
Bloody Good Review >> Thank You
I think the advantage of the timing adjustment on the cam is super useful for tiny adjustments. If u can’t get it as perfect as u want with twisting or in twisting cables a smidge of a turn and bam. All the adjustments available on these new bowtechs has me wanting
One. Only problem is I want the new Darton and slit as well so it looks like I’ll just keep shooting my spectre e
The Timelock allows certain degree of drawlength adjustment in addition to timing adjustment
You might want to check out Athens new bows for 2024, they also have the tuning technology in the cams like Bowtech.
Good reviews as always, still shooting me PSE Evo XF 33 with EC cam. What’s your thoughts on Joel Turner?
Joel helped me alot. I did the paid online course before I went over to the states for TAC. Mental discipline is Joel turner.
I have ordered a core ss which is on a slow boat from USA to UK .I always watch your reviews which are great and helped with my choice .As you have the core ss can you tell me if you can a just the draw length with out a bow press ,I have emailed Bowtech but 0 back from them 😞
For a beginner who has had 2 shoulder injuries and a major shoulder surgery after the 2nd. Would you recommend Mathews image 50# draw weight or a bowtech core ss 60# tuned down with room to move up as draw strength improves?
Can you reveiw the new lift? Id like to see your thoughts on the bow. It seems the core ss and the lift 29.5 are going for the same buyers
6:03 how long have bowtech gone away from the polymer limb pockets? Good move for them!
Bowtech=💫 has lots of adjustability but unsure if it accomplishes anything.
Mathews=👹
got it.
Steve.... Athens Archery has a brand new, patent pending, Accu-TuneTM Cam Technology, like but not the same design as the Bowtech
It's difficult getting an Athens Archery bow outside of the USA
I love my SS34 ... It is easily the best bow I've owned. The Question is. Should I upgrade to the Core SS?
So the bow feels so steady because it’s a 6.25 brace ht with only .5 inches of reflex . Wide limbs probably help too.
You mention it feels like a 7 inch brace height , but is that because of the low Reflex number on this bow? I believe its about 1/2 inch.

Im old enough to remember when naming anything SS was a big no no, especially a weapon.
Steve - you want to "burnish" your string, not blemish it. You know your customer will demand warranty or a discount if there are any blemishes on the bow..... 😉
327 grain arrow at 275fps??? That's a very slow bow
60lbs bow
It's on comfort. It will pick up around 10fps on performance. Still not blazing fast but it's not supposed to be, that's what the SR is for. Still not bad for a 60lb bow at 29
297 fps with the 327 gn arrow, not 275
Check video time at 13:01. 327 grains at 275 fps.
Sorry mate!!!! But APA MAKES A BOW WITH ADJUSTABLE GRIP & more features than bowtech or mathews
Is there a Bowtech rep sitting just off-camera holding a lighter under Stephen's contract?
Nothing wrong with praising a good piece of equipment but Stephen is absolutely fawning over this bow.
Stephen, next video.......blink twice for "help ", three times so we know you're safe.
This Bow is not for Germany ! Not because of the bow, but because of the Name ! SS is a forbidden name here in Germany because of the History of the Nazi´s... Bowtech should rename it for the German Market !
Even the SS design looks suprsingly similar from a distance
@@ViperXYZ98 Yes, so i fear to be not able to buy this bow here in Germany... I wonder why BowTech gives such names to a Bow, are the not interested in History ???
prob just an oversight and not intentional! @@carstenherbst2934
What, that's crazy if two letter combination gets criminalized. Germans are out of their mind.
It's not a bowtech h1tler
