    For securing a limb that's being cut, we used a rope with a closed eye and a double-lock carabiner through it. To rig my branch, I'd go loop- half hitch, loop- half hitch, loop- carabiner into the running end. It's fast and strong, and just as fast on the bottom.
    Once in the habit of using half hitches that way, balance rigging goes just as fast, with both ends rigged the same way and an alpine butterfly at the lift point.

    Fascinating. I like learning how this is done. I am only trying to design a couple safe tree swings, but these principles of knots and rigging are applicable to even such a simple task. :)
