Japanese Sonic : *swears in english randomly*
That's a thing that he does. Jun'ichi Kanemaru knows how to speak in english, so, while he is voice acting as Sonic, he implements english words, like, "Hey", "Okay", "Let's Go", "What". This adds a bit of depth to the character.
But... At the time of Sonic X, he didn't know that "Shit" was a swearword, and he only realised that after the Anime ended.

@@chrisrockett5897 Cursing in Japanese is kinda of non-existing, and nobody knew what "Shit" meant at the time, so, that sliped through everyone. Except for 4Kids, of course.
If you get the Japanese version of Sonic X with subtitles, the characters say "Damn" like, way more than in Shadow The Hedgehog. Like, every single episode has at least 1 "Damn". But it doesn't matter for Japanese, because it's not cursing.

You missed a few, Sonic says damn in Shadow the Hedgehog’s last story when paralyzed, Knuckles says damn in either Sonic Runners or one of the rivals games, Boom Knuckles says pissed in an unused line in Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric, and Zavok says damn in Team Sonic Racing. There’s also multiple instances of the word crap in the IDW comics.
There's also the word "bugger" in Rush Adventure, but only some copies of the game. The censors caught that one a little late :P
