    This is what takes me soooo long when I’m making journals. I get stumped at the turn of every page. Thank you for showing us your thought process and that it doesn’t always come easily! 💕

    This is getting quite exciting - it's like a teaser when you set up a page but don't finish. It's fun to see what you choose; whether you hear me saying, "Yes, pick the little nut tree. Pick the little nut tree." And you do! This is such fun. (I also watched your happy mail video and was as astonished as you at all the lovely things MaryAnne sent you. You are so generous with your talent and your time, you richly deserve such an abundance.)

    Please don’t worry that you have already used up video time and haven’t glued down anything yet. It is NOT frustrating to me. Not at all. Watching you go through the process of going through one image after another is a wonderful learning experience. We all go through this. Looking at so many element and nothing seeming to work until, BAM! You lay something down or spot something in your pile of “stuff,” and there it is - the perfect element! I thoroughly enjoyed experiencing your process of elimination. It was fun for me to see this piece come together. It was, of course, a difficult piece to begin with, with its three substrates, which really presents the unique challenge of creating three individual pages that stand alone, yet work together to produce a three-part series wherein each piece stands alone, yet, when combined, become a piece that is visually cohesive. You truly met and defeated this challenge beautifully. I love it!

      Oh thank you so much Sherry, I really appreciate your kindness and understanding. Sometimes it really does require a lot of trying this and that to get things to work, but when you're doing a video it can make you feel slightly self conscious that your dithering about!!! Lol x

    It's positively Perfect in everyway. I'm happy watch you fussy cutting and hearing your thought process. If you had everything ready and then just glued it down it wouldn't be any fun to watch. It's nice to see that even an artist like you struggle sometimes it gives us more courage. I learn so much listening and watching. Those nursery rhymes have a lot of great memories with my childhood, my children & my grandchildren.🤗🐞🥰

    Tina, any time you spend mulling over what to do isn’t wasted, it teaching us what to consider before committing to something we might regret. I’m the other way, I stick things down and then I think, usually that it would have been better somewhere else. You’re teaching me to slow down and consider my placement, picture or whatever and I’m sure I’m not the only one, at least I hope not. 😁💕👋🏻

    My mother always recited “There was a little girl....” when I was little. That’s such a strong memory! Funny how a few words and pictures can transport you through space and time. I have made a floppy card thing and am just about to decorate it. I think I will try to use envelopes next time and make a folio type thing. Decorating is fun but sometimes a battle. This is really lovely.

    If we don’t try something new, crafting can become boring...I enjoy watching your thought process and it feels like we are crafting in the same room... I like the folio style as the big journals are way too daunting for me.... decorating is the most time consuming part which takes an “eye” for color, shape and content... it is easy to doubt ourselves when it doesn’t come together instantly.....that is when it is time for a tea!!

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree completely, when it’s not coming together as you’d hoped, take a break and grab a cup of tea, coming back with fresh eyes sometimes is just what is needed 🙃 x

    I will still love how it turns out. Some of those rhymes I remember. We don't have Lady bird books. Love the new kit... I ran out of black ink so my printer isn't working. Story of my life...LOL I bought some and be printing again. ❤❤❤

    • @shabbydabbydoodah
      @shabbydabbydoodah  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol, yes the ink is a constant battle 😉🤭🙃. That’s such a shame that you don’t have the ladybird books over there, they are really beautiful, although as I say further into this folio, actually not ideal for this project because they are fully decorated pages x

    Okay Tina, I thought I was adequately knowledgeable about my iPad and laptop - at least enough so to navigate in and around the things that interest me. NOT SO! I purchased everything you had for sale on Etsy, but now I can’t find it. I know you sent me your address and I have a very happy box to send you, but don’t have your mailing address. Also, I promised to send you something I came up with several years ago, but have decided to just share it right here and right now. I remembered having made these as you were giving us the virtual tour of your crafting area(s). You opened the door to a cabinet of sorts and pointed out that it was housing several pockets from your children’s jeans. You stated that you really didn’t know why you had saving the pockets. Later that day I was watching one of your videos. You were working in an open book and an element to later glue on to the book page. You kept laying your scissors onto the book page in an effort to make the scissors hold the book page down, as well as to prevent your pages (in the book) from sticking together from glue you had used to apply a couple of elements. The scissors kept sliding off and the book kept trying to close. I thought about the solution I had come up with and immediately thought to make one and send it to you, but then I thought of how simple it was and how childish so I was thinking then that you might laugh at it. But I knew you wouldn’t as you are simply to kind and considerate of your viewers. So, here goes: Take one of those blue jeans pockets and do a little something as decoration on one side only. Don’t spend much time on the decorating step. Now, do y’all have bb’s there? Surely you do. They are the “ammunition “ kids use in the BB Guns Santa Claus brings them when they are around twelve years old. You can buy the bbs at Wal Mart or any store that caters to hunters. Anyway, fill the pocket with bbs, leaving about an inch at the top of the pocket. Use some heavy thread such as upholstery thread or waxed linen, stitch the top of the pocket closed. It is perfect for holding a book open, for putting on top of bulky items while they dry, etc. The thing that makes them so handy is that , because of the bbs, they conform to any shape and will hol things until they are dry. These little pockets can also be used to hold down , say, the top of a page, while you work on the bottom or if you have an envelope or an element that keeps flopping open and getting in your way, and many other things. If you will keep this little gadget on your desk and make an effort to get used to using it, it will become one of your most used tools. I decided to just tell you how to make this instead of making and mailing it. I had forgotten just how heavy those little bbs are. If you have any trouble finding them, let me know and I’ll mail you some. I hope to get your package mailed this week. I love your videos. I’m wondering if you have one on initial construction of a journal?

      Oh Sherry I love your idea for the jean pocket paperweight, thank you so much it sounds great. You explained it brilliantly as well, fantastic idea, thank you. We have some of those BB pellets things.......just need to find them. You might enjoy this series which includes constructing a journal th-cam.com/play/PL2Agn_zOEKJWJuGhkKTEd13_O3E2cRg9k.html x
