- Beautiful corals, colorful reef fishs, big swarms of fusiliers, wobegong sharks, tiny nudibranchs and many other critters fulfills every divers dream! Batanta and Wai Island is located south of the Dampier Strait and is teemed with marine life and every dive offers new discoveries. Wai Island is famous for its beautiful top reefs and the P-47 Thunderbolt plane wreck. Along the coast of Batanta we found many dive sites with amazing critters sightings such as nudibranch, marine fatworms, shrimps, pipe fishs and pigmy seahorse. Highlights were the hairy octopus and the flamboyant cuttlefish.
We visited the beautiful Papua Paradise Eco Resort in January 2023 and had a wonderful stay. We would like to thank the excellent dive guides and the entire crew for this amazing experience.
For animal identification please refer to the video subtitles.
With best regards,
Sandra and Markus

Beautiful! Did you go to look for the bird of paradise as offered by the resort?
Thank you very much for your kind comment, appreciate it very much! So glad you enjoy watching our videos. Yes, we wanted to see the birds of paradise but unfortunately that morning it was raining heavily and the trip was canceled due to the impassable terrain. But we plan to go back to Papua exclusively for birding in the future. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
And did you see any Banggai Cardinal? This kind of fish is endemic to Indonesia. But I am not sure if they can be found in Raja Ampat...
WOW …Amazing video as always! Colorful Critters under water. Thank you guys for sharing this beautiful paradise ❤

Hi,
Do they just take you to dive sites close to the resort or other dive sites up north as well?
Im planning a trip in October, deciding between kri eco resort and papau paradise eco resort.
Thnkx
As we were heading to another resort up north after Papua Paradise, we deliberately wanted to see the dive sites around Batanta and Wai Island and did not ask for any full day trips. Also the weather was quite bad and the sea very rought which made long boat trips impossible at that time. Considering that I would always choose a resort in the area you are interested in than rely on full day excursions that might be cancelled due to bad weather or lack of participations. If in doubt I am sure the resort will gladly answer your question in great detail. Wishing you all the best and best regards, Markus
