Greetings from Colorado USA, where we are under orders to stay home. Many of us are taking that as encouragement to play music. My uke teacher is organizing a online class for our group this week. This is a very cool instrument. Will have to think about it. Thanks for all you are doing!
I have the original version deluxe with the fishman pickup (sans the tuner and eq). I absolutely love it. While perhaps the carbon fiber neck is appealing and would increase overall strength, durability, and even aesthetic I absolutely adore my klos and its wooden neck. Sounds amazing, great review 🤙🤙
I own the original klos uke, and love it. This one seems even better. Shame the only electric option is active with side mounted cotntrols. I much prefer in soundhole controls or passive pickups.
What I need to hear in a test drive of an instrument is the dynamic capability as many instruments choke out at a certain dynamic threshold. What I would like to see is a tremolo as soft as you can graduating to as hard as you can and see how the instrument responds / handles. Do this in the bottom range and the upper middle range.
I think that might be missing what Got A Ukulele is about - uke reviews for the mere mortal at all price points. I am not sure I could ever see me testing dynamic capability of the $30 Amazon instruments I regularly look at.... All instruments from $30 to $3000 get the same time and approach - only way to make it all fair and impartial. Trust me - if I spend ONE MINUTE longer on higher priced instruments than i do on cheap ukes I have people complaining I am biased.
@@GotAUkulele I don’t have the luxury to purchase a KLOS ukulele at the moment so I’m just living through you and others more fortunate. This is the technique I use to test any ukulele. (Doesn’t matter the price point.) I was just making a request. Thanks for your response
@@dianerubio Sorry, wasn't trying to sound dismissive - but it's a time thing - I have to make them all about the same amount of air time to make them fair and have limited personal time to do them. I get your point, but equally it would not work on some of the beginner kids ukes I look at. And sure as eggs is eggs, if I didn't apply same tests to all I'd have people call out bias. So - the reviews have never been perfect, but from the first year the plan was always this - play the same stuff, like a very average new player, on a sofa. Because that's what 90% of the viewers ARE. They tell me that they are bored with reviews of people playing like Jake for ten minutes when they are still learning their chords. It's trying to fit a review model that suits all players.
@@GotAUkulele I guess I’m not in the all player range! Btw I saw a review showing Jake give it a whirl and neither did he press the gas the whole way. One day I’ll try it. Thanks.
Wow:) That sounds quite nice indeed. Full and zingy at same time. I really like the way it looks but agree the headstock is a little small. But it wouldn’t stop me from getting one. Stay healthy and safe. Greetings from Canada. :)
I very much doubt it to be honest. I have no idea why they needed to go to a Kickstarter again having already proven the concept with the tenor. Not a fan of this 'lets put all the risk on the customer' approach. It's just the same uke, a bit smaller. Just make a smaller one! I'm sure it's great though - just doesn't need my review
is the soundbord as thick as in the previous model with wooden neck? do you remember :)? sadly, klos official site doesnt even have them in stock :P "Lead time is about 4-6 weeks."
I've predicted that in the past, and was dead wrong. I think the opposite actually - i've never known there to be so much choice in models and good quality at all price points. If my forward diary for reviews is anything to go buy, I have never been busier!
Is the finger spacing standard? I have a Clara concert Blackbird and I find the spacing a bit narrow, though I have small hands. Have you played Clara Blackbird before ?
There's no such thing as a standard string spacing - they vary. The spacing on this is 28.5mm G to A - that's kind of average for a tenor. Yes - played the Clara - review here - from memory, the Clara is a bit narrower www.gotaukulele.com/2016/10/blackbird-clara-concert-ukulele-review.html
@@GotAUkulele Since you reviewed the Clara some time ago and this review is recent, how would you compare the sound quality of the All carbon fibre and the Clara? Wonder if 28.5mm spacing works better for smaller hands.
@@fellasg Sorry - don't have the Clara and Klos side by side to test. I genuinely liked both. The Clara was brighter from memory, the Klos more rounded. The Clara was louder. Different scales too of course so not fully fair comparison anyway.
Hey, I was wondering if you would have some advice for me, I'm currently looking for an electric tenor ukulele that sounds good while not being plugged in to. I really want to be able to play without plugging it in but also plugging it in when I have to, I’m just not sure which one would be the best to buy.
That's a very wide question really - to be honest, I never recommend the wooden ukes with pre-installed pickups, rather I advice fitting a passive pickup after market to a good acoustic. On that basis - choose an acoustic tenor you really like sound of, then get the store to fit a passive pickup to it. Put the ukulele first, not the pickup
I absolutely love this ukulele! its currently my dream ukulele, but for me it really gotta stay as just a dream lol, because here in Brazil, only a really rich person can own one of these, because it is very expensive here! If i was receiving a minumim wage here in Brazil, and i worked for 5/6 months without using any of my salary, i could own one, pretty sad for me but thats ok 😅, love your videos ❤ I would kill for one of these 😂 Its childs day here in Brazil, happy childs day for everyone🎉 🎉
The wooden neck on the previous version bothered me as well . . . on their guitars too; seemed a pointless combo. Love this, but as you said, income switched off. Might have to start selling off instruments instead of acquiring them, yet who will buy them in this unsure situation. Stay safe, hang in there.
'Expensive' is a subjective thing of course, but yes, for many people this will be expensive. However I judge it in terms of value for money. It's superbly made and sounds great - right up there with some of the best tenors I've looked at.
Carbon instruments have never really interested me but this one has really grabbed my attention. I think it just looks a lot nicer than a lot of the stuff I've seen.
Thanks for the review. It looks beautiful. Don't like the look of the small neck, I'd rather a conventional shape and I agree with you about thd head being too small, it looks out of proportion. Oh, another thing I definitely don't like is the price. Stay safe and well.
World in lockdown... brands, artists, luthiers all facing financial ruin.. but you can always count on one constant- that some lame-ass will feel it's right to down vote something and send a message to a business they don't care.... humanity eh? Wonderful..

Great review. I’ve told my fingers if they can get their act together I’ll think about treating them to this Klos. Keep well.
You won't regret it
Nice uke. It’s probably just as well it doesn’t come in a concert size.
You’re right, Baz, amazon does not need our money. They pay exactly $0 taxes.

Yeah, I get that on the pickup - still - doesn't look out of place at all on this I didn't think
MrMoneyHelper I do, but not wholly convinced they affect tone ( impossible to fairly test) - looks better than this on a wooden uke though

How’s the intonation?
Fine - bear in mind - intonation is not a model specific thing. It can be adjusted and as easily bad on a $3000 uke as it can on a $30 uke
