One of my favourite movies. Still saw it yesterday. Helen Hunt & Jack were incredibly good in portraying their characters... Looking for more movies like this.

The denial of self while lifting self and others… it’s not easy… humility and confidence in the face of indifference at times of needs… and the recognition of need and dissonance of upon over complex and simplicity of us all.

I watch this movie about every 4 years. I watched it the first time in 1998 and the last time about two years ago. I think I'm about to watch it again.

I haven't seen it since elementary like i saw there's something about Mary funny , serious and makes you cry 😢😭 at the same time and jack Nicholson did a splendid job playing a unkind guy with a compulsive disorder and helen Hunt and greg kinnear are both charming as well.

I was 10 years old when I first saw this film and it's one of the very few rom-coms I enjoy.
This film had the most accurate depiction of OCD, I've ever seen put on film. The only other media was the TV show Girls that handled this subject accurately.

1:12 the little girl stepping forward looks exactly like Grace Johnston who played Victoria in the movie Beaches like 10 years prior to this movie. I just got through watching Beaches, and I never forget a face and Im thinking what year was As good as it gets? so , it cant be her unless this was 10 year old footage spliced in?
I looked on IMDB, not her in this movie.

For myself, I love all movies in which both Jack Nicholson and Gene Hackman star. However, after watching 'The Shining' when it was first released, combined with that face, I can't quite reconcile Nicholson in any role other than a maniacal, demonic, or otherwise twisted rake no matter how good the movie is otherwise.

What I find most amusing, is the demographic, and certain types of people that love this movie most, are the reason that we don't have movies like this anymore. Good Film with a great performance by both Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. However, I still wouldn't call it a masterpiece. I thought the plot had no clear direction.
