    About MLB.com: Former Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced on January 19, 2000, that the 30 Major League Club owners voted unanimously to centralize all of Baseball's Internet operations into an independent technology company. Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) was formed and charged with developing, building and managing the most comprehensive baseball experience available on the Internet. In August 2002, MLB.com streamed the first-ever live full length MLB game over the Internet when the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees faced off at Yankee Stadium. Since that time, millions of baseball fans around the world have subscribed to MLB.TV, the live video streaming product that airs every game in HD to nearly 400 different devices. MLB.com also provides an array of mobile apps for fans to choose from, including At Bat, the highest-grossing iOS sports app of all-time. MLB.com also provides fans with a stable of Club beat reporters and award-winning national columnists, the largest contingent of baseball reporters under one roof, that deliver over 100 original articles every day. MLB.com also offers extensive historical information and footage, online ticket sales, official baseball merchandise, authenticated memorabilia and collectibles and fantasy games.
    Major League Baseball consists of 30 teams split between the American and National Leagues. The American League consists of the following teams: Baltimore Orioles; Boston Red Sox; Chicago White Sox; Cleveland Indians; Detroit Tigers; Houston Astros; Kansas City Royals; Los Angeles Angels ; Minnesota Twins; New York Yankees; Oakland Athletics; Seattle Mariners; Tampa Bay Rays; Texas Rangers; and Toronto Blue Jays. This team was so good, they had the bats, the pitching, the chemistry. Would’ve been amazing to see them get this hot in the playoffs. Would’ve been no contest. They just cooled off too early

    • @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448
      @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      Actually, that's not true-- they didn't really cool off, despite this claim frequently being made.
      True, The Streak ended (it needed to sometime), but, after The Streak ended, they stayed hot, VERY hot. Immediately after the loss that ended Said Streak, they rattled off another 6 straight wins (thus, over 29 games, they went an amazing 28-1! They would have broken the MLB record 26 game winning streak if they didn't lose that one game). Then... they stayed VERY hot. By the time they were up 2 games to 0 against the Yanks in the playoffs, they had gone on an incredible 35-4 run (an all time MLB record for 39 games, I do believe)! And, even the 4 losses were close (3 were one-run losses, and 1 was an extra inning loss). For almost 2 months, they either won, or lost a close game (to not lose badly in Major League Baseball over that long a stretch is ridiculous). So, going into game 3 of the series against the Yanks, there was, literally, no team hotter in MLB history then those Indians. AND, on top of that, they had won game 2 against the Yankees in amazing comeback fashion (recall Lindor's glorious grand slam!)-- one of those games which seemed, at the time, to be a total dagger to the Yankees' heart and strongly indicated that this Tribe team couldn't be stopped.
      But, then...IT happened: the SUDDEN, unpredictable loss of momentum. It began with the tough 1-0 loss in game 3-- Aaron Judge robbing Lindor of a Homer prevented the Tribe from sweeping the Yanks and advancing closer to what-seemed-to-be their World Series championship destiny. And, then, games 4 and 5 didn't go well. And... there you have it.
      So, while the Indians streak ended-- again, it needed to SOME time-- they hardly got cold, but, rather, stayed SUPER hot, going 13-4 in the next 17 games, prior to simply and unpredictably losing 3 straight.
      But... that's baseball. Stuff like this happens in baseball, happens all the time. It was certainly very sad, and rather surprising to see them suddenly lose momentum like that, but, considering how finicky baseball is, it wasn't shocking. That's what makes baseball so great and so maddening at the same time! This very sudden, unpredictable collapse of this almost indescribably hot Tribe team shows how unpredictable baseball is in a short series (showing that, no matter what criteria folks try to use to predict who will win in a short playoff series, none of them actually work well in forming predictions: baseball is somewhat predictable over a long season, but not-at-all predictable in a short series, that's just the nature of the game...again, making playoff baseball both beautiful and maddening!)
      But, the Streak was still SUPER glorious in itself...almost as glorious as actually winning the title...ALMOST...

    I’m a Blue Jays fan but I hope I live to see the Indians win it all one year. Because I love an underdog, and because I so want to hear Tom Hamilton call a winning WS. He is hands down the best commentator in Baseball.

    • @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448
      @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      During the 90s, when the Tribe first got good after almost 4 decades of being horrible , Hamilton was AWESOME. He sympathized with Tribe fans: cheered when they won, bemoaned their losses. However, now, I can hardly tell who he's rooting for: he cheers for the opposing team-- we Tribe fans don't want that from our own guy! It's one thing for a national announcer to be neutral, but that should NOT be the case for the local announcer. Joe Tait, old Cavs announcer, and current Cavs' guy were good examples of true hometown announcers... which Hamilton USED to be...

    • @christiangherian3119
      @christiangherian3119 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448 I am a younger Cleveland fan so I don’t know as much about how Hamilton called the games in the 90s, but I think him being a little more neutral is what makes him so good.

    • @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448
      @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christiangherian3119 Neutrality is appropriate for an announcer on a neutral station, eg., a nationally aired game. But, announcing a game on a given team's official radio station, out of respect for the fans of that team who listen to that station, calls for rooting for that team. Joe Tait was a master of this, as was the younger Hamilton.

    • @bhawley21
      @bhawley21 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      He doesn't root for the opposing team. He will appreciate a good play when a good play is made, even if it's by the other team. But he doesn't out-right root for the other team

    • @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448
      @blessedvirginmaryisqueen8448 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bhawley21 I agree that a good sportsman should appreciate a fine play even by an opponent. However, the excitement one gets from that play should rarely, if ever, be of the same intensity as for one's own team. But, at least at times, in recent years, Tom Hamilton shows the same or very similar excitement at a good play for the other team as he does for the Tribe. Thus, it has happened for my family and me, when the game is on in the background, Tom gets *very* excited and we do, too, expecting to hear something good for the Tribe, only to find that his excitement is for the opponent. This actually is a really annoying letdown for a true fan, and it's not uncommon in my family (so their learning to not get so excited when he is until they know exactly what happened). He didn't do this in earlier years-- he appreciated good plays by opponents, as we should, but he wouldn't get "excited" about them. That's how a *home town* announcer should sound. But, Now, I wouldn't say he roots for the other team, but many times- not all the time, but many times- he sounds more like one of those "neautral" National announcers who aren't supposed to root for either team but simply to root for "baseball itself ".

    Such a fun team to watch. It seemed like every night someone else was stepping up to be a game changer. Even though Lindor is on the Mets I still want him to succeed because him and José were the most entertaining duo I’ve ever seen take the field. I’ll always look back fondly on the 2017 Indians. I rememeber game 22 man! It was a Thursday night me and my friend had gone on a drive to to see where our local football team would be playing the following night because it was our first time ever playing that team. We listened to the game the whole way there and whole way back. When Bruce hit the game winner. We screamed so loud at the top of our lungs chanting go tribe down Route 30! Turned on some Cleveland Rocks for the rest of the ride home! That Streak was magical man. My friend couldn’t stand baseball but the Indians made him a fan!

      I was on the West Virginia Turnpike when Bruce drove in the game winner, traveling to North Carolina for work. Everyone at the plant knew I was from Cleveland, and instead of being asked how we were to address the issues, all of the talk was about the streak. Oh, I solved the issues we had to deal with, but it was awesome that after a 10-hour drive people wanted to talk baseball and about my team.

    The simple reason why they won this many games in a row is because they played like a team. Every game someone new was contributing their best.

      Almost ended up on his butt. No need to give the catcher a pat on the chest or booty, make sure he aight, when you come back around, after blasting one 410 feet, I guess.

    Only reason it didn't make it to 23? They wanted it too much. Ramirez and Lindor came to the plate swinging for the fences. Had they had their typical approach... no QUESTION one of them gets the clutch hit.

I have MLB THE SHOW 16 and 17 going to get 15 and 14 tomorrow I saw Carlos Carrasco #59 get hurt today at the Jake you took a pitch off his pitching hand it was crazy we've lost though hopefully I can help the Indians won a World Series on my games

    It feels like, when Oakland did it in 2002, there was more emotion when they reached 20.

    • @eolsunder
      @eolsunder 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      couple reasons. Oakland was very much more an underdog with a very low salary. 40 million compared to teams like the yankees with 125 million. The indians had 113 mil salary vs yankees 182 million. Huge difference when your salary is 1/3rd the amount of the big teams. Also I think game 20 for Oakland was more stressful with the win only coming at the end. So i think those couple reasons were more emotional. Of course the players on both teams were fired up and the crowds amazing.

  • @crazysanor

    Probably the greatest team ever assembled. But in the playoffs ya never know. They were unforgettable and moneyball 2 should be made in this teams honor. What they did with the bullpen in 2016 with Andrew Miller is still being copied.
