Man i can remember when shaq came into the league no one had ever seen anything like him. The speed, power and and size, wow. Definitely the most dominate center of all time.
Not taking anything away from wilt he was the best in his Era hands down I don't know well he would do in todays game. When wilt played he was a foot taller than anybody in the league and guys weren't half as athletic he should should have dominated just by default. I can't remember another era that had as many great centers (David Robinson, hakim the dream, euwing, and so on) in the league as O'Neals Era and for him to come to the league and dominate like he did is impressive.
So powerful, that he forced the NBA to redesign all of its goal standards after the plays in #5. The NBA had known about glass-shattering dunks, but never before (or since) has someone broken the entire structure.
Shaq was a force to be reckoned with when he first started his dominant NBA career playing for the Orlando Magic! He was a beast in his prime playing with great players like Afernee Hardaway aka Penny, Dennis Scott aka D3, Booie, Nick Anderson, Brian Hill and Horace Grant. I miss this old school 90's magic team! Only thing, I wish they won an NBA Championship together with "Lil Penny" especially in the 95 playoffs finals against Rockets!!! That would have been sweet!!!
Big respect to all the big man who jumped vs shaq thats wat made the centers era basketball so great every big man jumped to block the dunk no matter who or how great the player is like a gladiator sport
Sam Gallimore he didn’t take care of himself at all even when he was on the lakers he was getting fat he was good but he was getting fat and slow if he would’ve stayed in shape and played with Kobe 6 rings guaranteed
Me and my brother talk about this all the time. Shaq had the best opportunity of his career here because it was a new, young franchise. Yes, he won championships with the Lakers, but you had a chance to make the Orlando Magic your franchise; the Lakers already had previous greats. You, Penny, Nick Anderson, Dennis Scott, Donald Royal, Anthony Bowie and many others had such a bright future. I have no doubt y'all would've won multiple championships that would've put the new Orlando Magic franchise up there with those Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Laker, New York Knicks teams of old. Big opportunity missed! Orlando would've been your city, dude. This is why LeBron went back to Cleveland and wants to win a championship there. He'll be a superstar player from Ohio and bring that team it's first championship and bring that city a championship since the 60's. It's all about legacy and being that one to set the tone is how you want to be remembered.
El Hajj Malik El I have the same coversation with friends that I grew up with here in Orlando; Shaq would've definitely won more rings in Orlando, the Magic would've dominated the East for a long time. He alone would've been the face of the franchise the city of Orlando would've erected a statue on his behalf. Shaq probably didn't know how much the city of Orlando loved having him here I know as a teenager in high school my friends and I would stay up late and watch all the road games, the next morning all we spoke about was how dominant Shaq played against the great centers of that time. God I miss that Magic-Shaq team.
cflo1386, exactly. He did an interview with Penny and D-Scott in a barbershop and even said he made a mistake when he left Orlando. Even though I started watching in 2005 when we just let go of T-Mac, I still go back and check out the old 90's games. The team had so much potential. That started the Magic curse. They would've erected a statue of Shaq right outside the old Amway Arena. My brother, who is older than me, was telling me of how there was a buzz all around the city and they had the colors and the music to match the team; they had a serious identity out here. I was like 5-6 at the time, but I do remember some of the Magic craze in the city. It especially pissed me off when he won a championship with Miami in 2006. Orlando would've been the city to set the standard in Florida and trump anything Miami could've done.
The electricity in Orlando was great before the draft because everybody in Orlando knew we were getting Shaq, but we were still a little concerned about how good of a player he was going to be. A year earlier the Magic picked up his teammate, center Stanley Roberts, and he was a bust so there was concern if Shaq was going to be a bust as well. But, Shaq brought that electricity even before he played his first game in a Magic uniform.
I think his extra weight helped him with the Lakers, later it spiraled out of control lol, he played in the NBA at close to 400 pounds in his last season
@hairjordan2620 it did. But like... he was already plenty powerful. He could have been a little bigger, faster, quicker. I think the change in his defensive impact alone would make me wanna keep him in Orlando shape. But then late-60s-70s Wilt would really be able to actually push him around though(if kareem was a lot too handle at that time tho, young Shaq would be a nightmare.
Cc Bb that comment was 2 weeks ago btw, dwights first couple games on the Hawks were great. At the time it seemed like he was getting better. For right now not really although hes still a decent player and a good rebounder.
Victor Sullivan Wilt didn't play in Shaq's era. Shaq was more dominant physically than Wilt. And had he play in the 60's, he would have averaged hands down the same kind of numbers Wilt did in his prime. People never take the era into account but it does count.
Athletic freak man. For some one his size and move around like that its just crazy. These aint bench warmers he slamming on but hall of famers some even against top 5 centers.
wedontknow Thank you for this comment. People never mention how mobile, agile and skilled he was for his size and weight. They take it for granted but it's fucking crazy.
wedontknow Dwight has potential and he also plays in a softer era. Plus he really doesn't have any serious competition at that position. Yet, he still can't clearly dominate the center position like Shaq did. And Shaq had way more competition.
Shaq came right into the nba as a rookie and averaged almost 30 a game we will never see another big man do that . anytime shaw caught the ball deep in the paint it was a dunk no matter what he had the best hands of anyone other than mj i.ever seen period .. if only kobe wasn't selfish shaq and kobe would've won from 5 or 6 rings in a row easily but kobe wanted to be the man and couldn't handle shaq being the man .. that 01 Lakers team was so.good man they would smash any current nba team today Ina series with ease !!!
What a dude, it was so enjoyable to watch him with Bear Grylls in running wild with Bear Grylls, made jokes all the time and the respect towards Bear from him was something else :)
Some people have the guts to say Kobe was better. First of all, Shaq played an entire career in the 90's where Kobe was nothing at that time. Shaq was already one of the best player ever. He was even in the official 50 greatest player in 1997. He realized lots of things before even meeting Kobe like scoring champion or nba finals. When the two play together, Shaq was the best player in the league and he wasn't even in his prime anymore. Most of his prime were in the 90's The only difference was he didn't have any competiton in the 2000's so he could dominate regardless of the fact that he wasn't in his prime anymore.
That generic Gaming channel Yes. I mean, if you ask that question, then you didn't understand what I said. Let me be more clear. During the years that they played together in the 2000's, there were never a season where Kobe was better than Shaq. Now, what is really relevant is that Shaq wasn't even in his prime at that time. Yet Kobe wasn't better than him. That shows the difference between the 2 players. And I love Kobe too but there is NO WAY anybody can say he was better than Shaq.
That generic Gaming channel That's not an excuse. And by the way, I am not saying Kobe is not great or anything like that. But I am sometimes amazed how much Shaq is underrated, that's all. And I don't like it. Kobe is one of the most amazing player that I have ever seen. But he's not better than Shaq. No way.
+Air Magic if u ask any coach or gm who they want a 20 year old kobe or a 20 year old shaq I'd take shaq cause he is rare we may never see another center with that kimda power and finese . imagine if shaq made his free throws he would've easily averaged 40 plus a night easily . people seem to forget shaq wasn't just dunks he had a legit post game . as good as Timmy Duncan is I seen shaq absolutely dominate that man many times just a amazing player once in a lifetime talent and size !!!
Remember the days I woke up at 3 am in Germany to see Shaq dunking....Penny Hardaway, Dennis Scott, Robertson still are heroes to me....I was crying when they were swept 4-0 by Houston in the Finals....
Salut from Greece ,i wasn't fan off shaquile O'Neal never,, i was fan of Robinson or Hakim this era but i think shaq is the best center of all time ,its fair to admit this
No doubt about it. In that decade, I would watch basketball all the time. Not only that, but NBA Jam came out that decade which is my favorite basketball game. I wish we could go back to the 90s. That was the last best decade in the history of this planet.
I always have to cry to see Orlando Shaq attack, this is just to awesome! But sad at the same time, always thinking of what would have happened if he stayed in this shape all his career!?
#5 should have been #1. Because of that, the NBA had to change how the baskets were constructed, as no one had ever caused an entire basket to fail.
agreed
Yes Sir I concur!!
Yeah shaq broke the basket 2 times he should be band from the game
+Dennis Ian Rulloda band really?
Holy f**k he should not
I like the play when he dunked.
That was the best play of all time by Shaquille O'Neal.
Malik Bailey ):
Malik Bailey I like that play too 😂
Malik Bailey 丶
I liked the one when he shot a 3
Man i can remember when shaq came into the league no one had ever seen anything like him. The speed, power and and size, wow. Definitely the most dominate center of all time.
One number : 100.
Not taking anything away from wilt he was the best in his Era hands down I don't know well he would do in todays game. I can't remember another era that had as many great centers (David Robinson, hakim the dream, euwing, and so on) in the league as O'Neals Era and for him to come to the league and dominate like he did is impressive.
Shit, just look at the video these are hall of famers he's dunking on like their bench warmers.
So powerful, that he forced the NBA to redesign all of its goal standards after the plays in #5. The NBA had known about glass-shattering dunks, but never before (or since) has someone broken the entire structure.
***** actually shaq is the most dominant center ever...
***** of course he was heavy but how the hell he jumped that high? thats power
Shaquille: =dunks=
The rim: *Ah shit here we go again*
Rim?
Why the fuck do I see so many people call them rings?
Hahahahahah
Hahaha
@MUFC lol 😂😂
Shaq is the very reason why they've redesign the base of the basketball rim as he offenly destroys it..
Rim*
offenly hahaha
what does this garbled shit mean
Daryl dawkins
True?
3:13 legends say that he is still waiting for the high-five

Saw it too hahaha its like dammnnnnn
Fun fact : shaq destroyed more backboard than make 3 point in his whole career
WiseFlower shaq only made one three in his NBA career lol
@@rambosx6699 ben wallace > shaq
@@youngboy2pacdrake That's your opinion
That's why I love this guy, he brings his personality right their on the court
Still to this day, I cannot get over the fact being such a huge man he moves so swiftly and eloquently.
This was his best version for sure. Strengh, stamina and mobility.
Definetely better than his laker version

John Noonan AMEN my friend lol
John Noonan obviously
Shaq is one of my all time favorites and those plays really were MAGIC
1:42 - Even the basket does reverence to Shaq.
Shaq Attack!!! 90's NBA was and is Legendary!
This man posterized some of the best shot blockers in the history of the game. Hakeem, Dikembe, Alonzo, and The Admiral. Sick!!
Big respect to all the big man who jumped vs shaq thats wat made the centers era basketball so great every big man jumped to block the dunk no matter who or how great the player is like a gladiator sport
Шакил - игрок ради которого и смотришь баскетбол. Легендарный центровой НБА и весельчак. Отличная подборка. Спасибо, здоровяк! Respect Shaq!

Sam Gallimore he didn’t take care of himself at all even when he was on the lakers he was getting fat he was good but he was getting fat and slow if he would’ve stayed in shape and played with Kobe 6 rings guaranteed
Shaq made a lot of big men look like kids.
true
7 years wow

@Harman actually it is natural to get heavier when aging, so no worries
man that penny wrap around was sick
It is amazing to think that if Shaq kept his early career figure how even more dominant he could have been.
I think his extra weight helped him with the Lakers, later it spiraled out of control lol, he played in the NBA at close to 400 pounds in his last season

dwight needs to take notes
Indeed
to be fair d12 was pretty good in magic tho

1:49 The whole basket was like - "Let me take a rest for a bit with these dunks imma seat here for a second".😂😂
He did what was best for him. Got championships. I don't hate him for leaving us here in Orlando. Our greatest player. Thanks Shaq.
The greatest Center to ever play the game.

I miss the 1992-1995 Magic.
I watched this entire countdown with a smile on my face
The strongest center I've ever seen
Shaq bringing down the hoop should be one and 2
If shaq was in his prime right now in the nba he would be averaging 35p, 20r, 5b
No he wouldn't. You realise he played the entire decade of 2000-2010?
There is no decent centres any more, none in the league the moment can post up and rebound consistently
Word!
mrteportelloubaga
Dumbass he said his prime...
He wouldn't. He never averaged more than 13 reb so you're wrong.
I like how everybody is clapping when he destroys the baskets 😂
Legend
He dominated the basketball!
Sometimes you forget how dominant and fluid the Orlando magic version of Shaq was in the 90s
1:54 i keep replaying it.
Lol at Barkley when the hoop slowly collapsed in phoenix.
Hahaaa
He looked like Jill when moving away from a zombie in the resident evil 3 game, hahaha.

Athletic freak man. For some one his size and move around like that its just crazy. These aint bench warmers he slamming on but hall of famers some even against top 5 centers.

Thank you for this comment. People never mention how mobile, agile and skilled he was for his size and weight. They take it for granted but it's fucking crazy.

1:55 Holy Cow!

The clock violated Shaq! The game resumed after a 46-minute delay because seats had to be moved around.
Shaq’s dunks were sooooo nasty.
Shaq was an absolute beast 👊🏾

Exactly.
The 90's were the best they had all those legends.
No doubt about it. In that decade, I would watch basketball all the time. Not only that, but NBA Jam came out that decade which is my favorite basketball game. I wish we could go back to the 90s. That was the last best decade in the history of this planet.

Hakeem Olajuwon and Alonzo Mourning were all either posturized or something else in these highlights LMAO
I just noticed that. lol. Alonzo Mourning seems like he got posterized by every superstar in the last 3 decades.
And you should watch when Hakeem embarrassed Shaq the hundreds of times lol
Shaquille is a giant

I always have to cry to see Orlando Shaq attack, this is just to awesome! But sad at the same time, always thinking of what would have happened if he stayed in this shape all his career!?
Would’ve been hilarious if they put his only career made 3-pt shot
