@@Agoateeman you meant to say France provided crumbs to Niger in return for looting their national resources? This aid thing is another weapon used against the people of Africa to cover up the huge exploitation carried out against them.
Africa has all the resources they need, they don't need bread crumbs disguised as aid from Europe and America which almost always comes with strings attached. They should be treated as equal partners in business for them to rise up and sustain themselves, instead of having these one sided transactions that benefit the west more than the people of Africa.

But there are 2 countries that are desperate for it - France and the USA. and they don't want to pay fairly for it, and they both could only get Uranium from Russia or Niger. And they don't want to be dependent on the Russian resources. If they make the country more unstable, and blame Russia for the coup - even better. They could extract the Uranium for free. Other than conveniently leaving aside the real reason for the recent spate of coup d'etats in Africa, she did a good job of carrying water for the West. It was interesting to note that while she named the countries where the coup d'etats took place, she omitted the coup d'etat in Tchad, which is a coup d'etat in favour of France. Good English does not mean good journalism. Do not think people are stupid. In many African countries, the level of geopolitical awareness is very high. They may be poor, but they are not stupid. They will no more automatically listen to old feckless puppet politicians. When the right conditions occur no one will be able to hold this generation of africans back. That is what they are after and they have nothing more to lose in this pursuit.

I'm in New Zealand we are independent of the British Empire but still part of the commonwealth yet we do not have British troops based in our country. Why do the French have troops in all of the former French colonies? Niger according to the article had peace for 13 years a good achievement. So whatever corruption the leaders commit in their country against their people will be covered and the Western leaders will turned a blind eye to it, provided that leader will be transferring his huge looted funds to their country and not be in opposition to the West. Russia and China are better that any Western country in terms of sincerity, relationship with any nation and especially, the African nations. "and this one's very important", so Wagner's presence(no proof they're in Niger yet) is more important than France's exploitation OR terrorists actions? France, US and Germany were present in the country but terrorists were allowed to run amock. This led to the coup. The president is from an ethnic group that is 0.4% of the population, he was NOT fairly voted into power, it was passed down to him. If we admit what the issues were, those involved can find a solution to the problems that led to the coup in the first place. All nations present in that country must take seriously the tasks of fighting terrorism and developing the nation, as well as sharing profits from their resources with the people.
