Love your long detailed videos. Your reviews of the Dreame X40 is the reason why I decided to purchase one from Dreame since it was on sale for around 1600k
I thought the Dreame L20 was amazing and my dream, but oh wow! I have three dogs following me around like shadows, all around home, so yep... it's a Dreame X40😊
Thank you for the video- it was really helpful. So many of the others were just really specs with just a few short video shots of it actually working. Yours has given me the info I really wanted to see with the mud and coffee etc., and it actually performing a thorough real world clean. Planning on watching more of your vids now as I try to figure out this vacuum thing!
I have the Dream L10. While is does a great job over the last two months the mop pads (fabric part) have been coming off the plastic spinners. I believe the velcro on the plastic is breaking down and not gripping the fabric enough
Its great that you noticed that the X40 does not clean edges on carpet. The side brush will not come out or even spin at those edges It is useless if your house is fully carpeted. This one was designed for the Chinese market where most homes have hardwood floors.
All things considered, especially price point I’m glad I got the x10 pro Omni still. This is impressive for sure, but I’ll wait a year or two for the next generation. Thanks for the review!
The x10 is great, I have it. However I think this x40 and the roborock s8 maxv are the absolute top generation we have waited all these years for. I can't imagine how they would improve either one.
and when the "next generation comes out" then you will be saying the same thing. There is no such thing as future proof. There is always a better version just around the corner.
@@Jeff-rz6kr the X-10 that I purchased is less than a month old still, why would I go and spend $1900 on another robot now? I’m future proof until the next generation, perhaps the features and value will then be such that it’ll be worth the price. I consider it sound stewardship of my currency. Not sure why you seem to have an issue with that.
The brush in the instructions on the app is for periodic cleaning of the mop cleaning area in the base. Just rinsing the dirty tank with hot water seems to be sufficient for me. As for the spinning brush on carpet, or lack thereof, I've been letting Dreame know about this, and so have a lot of others from what I can see online. But the good news is that someone mentioned that they noticed in the French and German forums that Dreame is aware of this and will fix this in a firmware update.
Thank for the video! A little piece of feedback. When you are doing an in depth review, things like "I can't go over this right now" don't really make sense. If you are taking the effort to cover stuff, do cover stuff, don't skip.
Fed-Ex is scheduled to deliver my new X40 tomorrow. (May 20th). I decided that since there were not many videos when I purchased this for the discounted price of $1,519.99. BUT if it doesn't perform I'll send it back on the 30 day return policy. I see you just posted this video yesterday and I appreciate your excellent review. I'm anxious to see how you stack this up against the roborock S8 which was my other consideration. The tie breaker for me was leaving the mop pads! I'm interested in how the Roborock does on the coffee grounds that look like dirt.!
If I may make a suggestion for your videos. Could you use screen sharing so we can see your screen on our screens rather than seeing it through the camera? Love your videos, but it would make it easier for us to read the screen and see the features on the app better.
Just an FYI, got it today cleaned 2 rooms and on the 3rd room the side brush no longer extends out…yes I have that feature turned on! Update: works just fine just have to change a setting in the app if you want it used more frequently….
@@JustADad After messing with the settings in the app, I changed the setting from AI to basically every cleaning and it works just fine, so we will call this a user error!! 🤦♂️
I'm having an issue with my x40 where it struggles to get onto the dock ramp because the edge of the ramp flares up so it can't go over it. It seems to only occur when the mop pads are not installed.
was hoping youd release this by next month. damn didnt expect today would be the day. thanks! really considering either this x40 or the roborock s8 maxv ultra
I agree with you (and did the same). There's no question the X40 has more features. But is it actually 'better'? And what 'better' actually means for each and every household varies quite a bit. In fact, I actually *prefer* my X9 over my X10 (despite all the criticism with regards to the absence.of auto-empty function) on my main floor, as I use the mop function at least twice a day. Emptying water bins less often becomes way more important emptying the dust bin once every 2 weeks. However the opposite applies in other areas of the house. To get back to the X40, it is over twice the price of the X10, so my questions would be: 1. Does the X40 perform twice as good as the X10 with regards to the functionalities that they share? 2. Do the additional functionalities increase my satisfaction to a level that would justify paying twice the price? 3. Are there ways to mitigate the X10's short comings to end up with a similar result? The answer depends on the rooms, the floors, the material to pick up, the preferred (or necessary) type of cleaning, etc. I have two S1s on order though... I'm very curious to see how they will compare. @justadad: awesome review as usual. Thank you sir :)!
I have the x10. Here is why I want the x40 for over double the cost. It cleans the edges, it has seperate solution tank, I will plumb it with the kit and never fill out empty water tanks,it has the video capabilities and it uses got water to wash mop pads.
What about putting a little non soapy detergent inside the clean water tank? (Of course they don't recommend it) Update: Actually I found on their online brochure (not this particular model) that they do mix it with tank inside robovac itself.
Thanks for very detailed, great videos. I am considering to buy this robot soon. I have similar kitchen cupboard gap, 4,3 inches as you have where robot seems can fit under it but worried that it will not go under it. You know how height is yours?
It looks impressive. I just bought a Roborock S8 Pro Ultra during the Mothers Day sale and received it 3 days ago. I got it for $900 with the discount and my additional 10% off government discount, plus tax. With additional accessories (cleaning solution, dirt bags, and mop pads) I paid $1064.89. Would you say the X40 would be worth the additional cost to upgrade to ? I’m still within the 30 return window. It would be about an extra $450. My lower level is 2500 sq ft with all wood look tile. My upper level bonus room is 350 sq ft of carpet with a full bathroom that has tile. No pets. 6 year old and 13 year old plus 2 adults. Thanks for your input and for your reviews ! @justadad
Do you have a suggest on cheaper alterative solutions? Dreame soap is pretty darn expensive considering how much the bot itself cost. I own the x40, but I'm looking for alterative soaps
Hi - a great review. Thanks :-) I am however not sure I understand, why you cleaned the coffee grounds, next to the base your self, instead of giving the Dreame a chance doing the job itself?
I heard the solution tank is only used for cleaning the mop, not for mopping the floors. Is this true? You say that it gets put into the robot's task and is used for mopping
@@msamarskij980 I’ve reached out directly to Dreame about this and they said and I quote “ Dear customer, the cleaning solution will add to robot's water tank which means it can also be used for floor mopping”
Thanks for this video, very informative. I read a review that the x40 reads the room initially then does not continuously watch for obstacles so if you move something after it starts, it will not clean that spot. This same review said obstacle avoidance could be better. Your opinion please.
@@BlazingNina My ecovac x1 omni must continuously watch because I'm constantly moving something after it moves around it and it will recognize on another pass that it is not there and clean. Hi, which settings that will mop and vac at the same time? I tried the Genius Vac&mop. But what its doing is just vacuuming first, and its not using its side brush. Then it will mop
Have you tested the auto emptying function with pet hair? I have Dreame L10s pro which doesn't do well with pet hair. It actually stays in the vaccum when it self emptying. I was thinking of upgrading if that function was now improved
Thanks for the review! Just got mine yesterday. Do you feel like the mopping takes a little longer than it should and is a little inefficient? It’s taking about 40 minutes to complete 2 rooms. Maybe I need to play with the settings a little more. But other than that this thing is awesome!
Please make tests of the height of the span at which the robot vacuum cleaner can pass. Before buying the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete, I had a Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, and Roborock S8 Pro Ultra calmly did cleaning under furniture, and when the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete appeared, it could not do cleaning under furniture and did cleaning near furniture. I talked to the owners of the Dreame X40 Ultra Complete, and it turned out interesting. For those who have had this robot pass under furniture, the height of the furniture is 11.5-12 cm, and I have a furniture height of 10 cm. I decided to run tests on the height of the span. I took a 10 cm wide board and books. I changed the height from 10 to 12 cm and sent the robot vacuum cleaner to do zone cleaning under the board and watched at what height it could pass. At a span height of 10 cm, I could not pass, at a span height of 10.5 cm I did not pass, and at a span height of 11 cm I passed. Passes both with AI (with the flashlight on/off) and without AI. I experimentally found out its height limit-11 cm. Apparently, the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra has a height limit of 10 cm, so it can clean under furniture with a span height of 10 cm. No one talks about it, and if they hadn't accidentally found out about the height limit, they would have handed the vacuum cleaner back and taken the Roborock QRevo Master. Make tests on the height of the span and show at what height the robot vacuum cleaner will no longer be able to pass. Be sure to tell people about it. No one is talking, and I didn't know it myself.
