well, compared to all the insanity we face today, coming from every direction, the 70s were a paradise. since 1980 the world has been sinking deeper and deeper into fascism, corruption, animosity, paranoia and social chaos. its now reached the gutter. and i don't see anything changing for the better anytime soon. i'm now in my sixties, and i'd rather be 60 in the 70s than today. overall, the 70s were a better time for everyone! just look at all THE BS we're inundated with. and we thought watergate and the "energy crisis" and the israeli/arab conflicts were bad. with trump, war, climate change, covid, poverty, police brutality, treason accepted in the mainstream, the rejection of science and women's rights and fascism taking over every american institution the world's society is on the verge of collapse. its not just nostalgia, generally speaking, the world really was better then than now.
@@cjmacq-vg8umI wholeheartedly agree, it was simple and basic times. The music was definitely the best part of my development. Songs with meaningful messages, inspiration and hope, fun and understanding the words. Born in december '61 in The Netherlands I really love this song and of course their other great hit "Sacramento". It really brings back sweet memories and if I had a timemachine I would go back to that period in history. The more I live in this present age, the more I want to travel back to the past. People of my age and beyond most likely know what I mean...
One of my earliest memories is standing on a stool in the kitchen and blowing into a tube to make bubbles in the sink (and pretending I was a chemist) while this track was playing on the radio. And now hearing this makes me realise that I've reached the age where prefer to seek comfort in the past, as opposed to hope in the future.
my mum constantly listened to this song in the car when i was a kid in the 70s, no seatbelts and i was chirped out by the time we reached where we were going
Funny though. It was only a few years ago that everything in the 70s was considered naff. But looking back, it was such an amazingly creative decade. (Probably because nobody had any money and were relatively time rich.)
This brings back memories of such a specific time in my childhood. My parents used to play this record often when I was around 5 or 6. Then one day I never heard it again and in time I forgot about it until I stumbled on it again on youtube!

La voz de la solista exquisita, y el tema vibrante, alegre y pegadizo, no se puede pedir más. Es lógico que a todos nos traiga recuerdos de nuestra infancia en los 70.
I remember us girls in junior school at playtime, we'd form a huge circle in the playground and sing this song, dancing and having so much fun!! Happy days!
I liked the tune and the sense of fun too but now I wonder why it was so. Was it such fun for ALL, for women to abandon their vows and their children for the sake of their individual freedoms?
@@bsota8513 No the words were "chirpy chirpy cheep cheep" which mimics the sounds a bird would make. So a mother was heard to be singing that song (like a bird) and in the morning that mother had gone. So the mother had abandoned her man, her children and her life to seek a new, possibly free-er and hopefully more happy life for h/self, but this certainly would leave her children in a bad situation. It's really a sad song I think, from a time when Western women demanded more freedoms and independence from past stereotypes.
