My grandma would do this for us as kids too! More so after school though, she would make homemade flour tortillas. As a kid I remember running into her house and you would smell homemade tortillas being made. She'd give us one, slap some butter on it - so goooood! Then sometimes she'd have homemade beans cooking, she'd give us bean tacos. My grandma had so many grand babies that bean tacos and butter tacos were the way to go.

Hi, so far I have seen 2 of your Mexican recipes and I'm so happy to see that they are so authentic, my mother taught me the rice recipe, and the fideo recipe, and my mom was an authentic Mexican lady who past away more the a year ago, but left me knowing all these types of recipes. All of the basics are right on point with how my mom made them, but as we know good recipes still vary slightly from kitchen to kitchen. Great job I actually like my fideo more watery almost like broth with noodles, but then that just goes to each person preferences. Hope to see more of your cooking recipes, bye
My friend taught me how to make Fidel. It has been a life saver many times when I forgot to thaw meat. Everyone loved it. I recently made it for my sister and she request me to make it at least 3 times a month and she could eat it all( at different times) I will be a regular watcher of your videos.

I have been looking for this recipe! Normally I make fideo with onions and peppers and diced tomatoes, dry rather than a soup. But years ago I had the flu and a young Mexican neighbor made me some sopa de fideo that I swear got me right up out of my sick bed. She served it with cilantro and a lime wedge. Thank you!

It's always a simple and delicious dish. Usually once it sits for a while it dries up and gets a little thicker. My mom used to always make it for my kids when they were young. The littles usually enjoy this and I make it for my grandkids now 🥰

Plus, I usually learn something!! : ) I made your instant pot beans the other night and left them like you said to slow release and that is the difference right there!!! I couldn't get my beans right in the instant pot and now I've been eating them everyday because they are so delicious. And who knew the season salt?? I sure didn't!! This is the way my mother taught me how to make it. My husband’s family never use cheese. When he married me and I added cheese, he said what in the world are you doing. Glad to discover this video I grew up with fideo and I don't remember the the name but as a kid I called it star soup(had little star noodle/pasta) my mom passed it down to the females in my family but never taught me. I have my ingredients and am gonna make it for breakfast today l. A cold front came in last night so it's windy and raining right now it will be great. Fideo and also sauteed veggies and chorizo for the main meal.
It just hit 60° today in Chicago, IL, and the weather is definitely perfect for this dish! I am going to make it today and fortunately I think I already have everything in my pantry. Oh yum! I grew up on Fideo and I always thought is was a special dish only to find out mom would make when funds were low a day or two before payday. The days leading up to pay day mom cooked beans, rice, sopa, calabacitas and handmade tortillas. We had little but mom always cooked up miracle meals.

I gathered fresh veggies from my garden today, roasted them in the oven, then blended them and added 21/2 cups of water and the powdered seasonings. Poured it into my toasted Fideo. Y’all it was delicious.

Oh yum! I grew up on Fideo and I always thought is was a special dish only to find out mom would make when funds were low a day or two before payday. The days leading up to pay day mom cooked beans, rice, sopa, calabacitas and handmade tortillas. We had little but mom always cooked up miracle meals.

I gathered fresh veggies from my garden today, roasted them in the oven, then blended them and added 21/2 cups of water and the powdered seasonings. Poured it into my toasted Fideo. Y’all it was delicious.
Thank you again I made today Fideo exactly the way you did it even with the cheese and I am 2-2 now. I am ready for lunch next week after hearing going to rain Monday & Tuesday. Definitely going to try next time the cheese enchiladas 😉
I went over to a friend's house one time. And I asked what did it taste like as I never tried it. And his mom said that sopa in it's simplest form is like mexican spaghetti'os. Lol. I like it though
