- Made in the first half of the 1970s in Japan, this is a rare Yamato "Violin"-shaped guitar. The violin shape is of course copied from 1950s/1960s Hofner designs, albeit Hofner was better known for their famous 500/1 Violin-shaped bass models of Paul McCartney fame. Other German companies used the shape as well, including East German ones, and about every Japanese maker of the 1960s/1970s also produced violin shaped basses and guitars.
